Take on the challenge.

I remember back in highschool, I had friends who liked to experiment. Especially when it came to weight. A few went down the path of becoming anorexic and bulemic, just to satisfy the opinions of others. When I heard they were doing this, I would shake my head in disapointment, that wasn't a good path for them. It was a dangerous path.

So, I would talk to them about it. I remember what I used to tell them also. I would tell them that if they continued to deny their bodies food, their stomachs would begin to shrink until finally, due to lack of food, it would begin to eat itself. I would be extremely graphic about this, in hope they would end this fad. That's all it was, a fad. Well, at least until it became more serious, then it would be considered a disorder.

If that little rant of mine woudn't work, I would explain to them that if they didn't have a certain number of calorie intake a day, their body would start using the stored energy in their muscle to keep their body going. That means that they would have less muscle mass and more BFP (body fat percentage). In that way, it made no sense to continue their little excapade of eating disorders, for it would not help them, but harm them.

Now, I stopped them before it became too serious. If you've got a friend with an eating disorder, talk to them, ya, but I suggest you get some real help.

I believe that crash dieting (the beginning of what could lead to serious eating disorders) is a fad. Just like obesity. If you look around America, what do you see? Think of McDonalds. Super-Size Me. We are considered to be the most obese country in the world. The top ten obese cities are:
Memphis, Tennessee: 34% obese.
Birmingham, Alabama: 31.3% obese.
San Antonio Texas: 31.3%
Riverside/San Bernardino, California: 30.8% obese.
Detroit, Michigan: 30.4% obese.
Jacksonville, Florida: 29.8% obese.
Nashville, Tennessee: 28.8% obese.
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: 27.5% obese.
Kansas City, Missouri: 26.9% obese.
San Diego, California: 26.7% obese

It's outrageous. We haven't always been this obese. Think back to the 20's. I believe obesity is a fad, a new life style. Now, I'll admit some people honestly can' help it, due to some sort of medical issues, but the ones who can, the ones who just decline any offer of exercise, or refuse to stop eating those nasty greasy burgers and whatnot, I find it sad.
If you just had the determination, you could do it, because once you get started, it's hard to stop. Working out becomes your addiction, let it become your drug. And trust me, it's much healthier than smoking or drinking alcohol, or taking LSD.

Take on the challenge and lower those obesity rates.
If 1 out of every 4 obese people did it, I bet the numbers would decline pretty fast.
Obesity isn't healthy.
