I'm excited. For my Writer'sCraft class, I am doing my Independent Study Project on opiniated essays so I am going to write about the gruesome life of the milk cow. How their babies are sent away to be veal cows or future milk cows. How they are stuffed full of hormones, how milk is actually not terribly good for you. (Can cause acne, gas, excess weight, and it can also help lead into diseases or other terrible problems)

It's not that milk is bad ...well, I'm a believer that cow milk is for cows, imagine that. But, milk wouldn't be so bad if we took the time to not throw so much grabage into the cows who produce it.

Deathcab4you. Your mom sounds really awesome! I wish more people were like that. For the time being, Zander and I have just cut milk out as much as possible. Funny, our bones haven't become brittle or weak, we haven't suffered any broken bones or cracking teeth. It's so silly how much people think milk keeps you alive. (Whatever did people do when we didn't have the technology to produce enough milk for the entire world?)

And now for something interesting

Milk is supposedly some magic wonder drink, thats SO good for you. One of the main reasons for this is because it contains what? Calcium. But, the fact is, you can't retain that calcium because your body needs another chemical, the micronutrient magnesium, in order to maintain that calcium. Most of it gets flushed right out of your system. But, seriously, you shouldn't need that much calcium anyways- the only reason people get things like osteoporosis (bone deteriation) is because over eating meat causes an acidic environment in the body, which must be countered by taking the stored calcium in your bones to balance the pH level.
Instead, you should be eating vegetable protein. Something so simple as brocolli will substitute milk (or liquid protein) and meat (or protein). These are healthy choices if you think about it, this is where the cow gets the protein in the first place, it is a primary source of energy.

Think about that for a change.

I'm happy today. Zander's brother has taken over the dishes from us. We had gooten fed up with washing people's disgusting dishes covered in meat. They were by far the worst.

So cruel, Zander went to his dad to say, 'look, Marlene and I are not comfortable with washing these dishes.'

His dad told him it was too bad, we came to him too late about it. (His job is about 6 hours away from where we live, so he only spends weekends at home.) Well, we were mad because its hard to find time to talk to him because he offers his time to a lot of people outside the house. We were pissed, he said that we'd have to tough it out and wash the disgusting dishes with meat that make me wanna throw up until next weekend. The nerve, we don't even eat the meat! Luckily, Zander's brother came home and accepted our offer. We take all his chores as long as he does dishes.

Thank goodness for that!

Anyway, not much new. I have a big ISP to do, well, it's already late. We had started handing stuff in for it at the beginning of the semester and it's just about the last week.

Lots of work to do!

Zander and I are becoming vegan! As best we can, anyway. It's tough, living under someone else's roof means its a challenge to keep track of all the non-dairy products that we get. Plus, all the nag about how much more our soy costs compared to their milk. Well, we don't drink milk anymore, or use milk anymore (ie, kraft dinner and stuff). We avoid as much as possible that simply says milk or eggs (yolk) in the ingredients.

I've discovered the world can be a horrifying place.

I hate that.

marlene Something that happened today. Jan 17th, 2006 8:53:49 pm - Subscribe
Well, Zander and I were home early from school because we could hardly stand the idea of going to our classes. We were watching this canadian show, "The Michael Coren Show" which is just people brought together to discuss issues.

Well, the topic of Pamela Anderson's big "boycott KFC" came up. This one man said he can't stand the woman (despite how much he enjoys looking at her). All they could say was she was an airhead.

The one guy went further to say that this boycott has encouraged him to eat at KFC more and that Throughout January, he would eat KFC once a day the whole month (he even pulled out a chicken leg and ate it right on the show!). He also mentioned we are top of the food chain, so we should be able to eat and wear whatever we want.
That made me SO angry!

And then, I believe one of the men said that a lot more important issues need to be handled like poverty. Yes, poverty is very wrong ...but is it really more important? Besides, who says we can't tackle two issues at once?

Closed minded people suck.

marlene School is not on today! Jan 18th, 2006 12:33:06 pm - Subscribe
I wish I could just get back to sleep, but it seems impossible now. Probably because I went to sleep super early, like 9 or something.

Zander and I were caught sleeping together. Its funny, everytime the topic comes up, Zander's mom comes up with a new reason why it bothers her. Before it was "it will bother your brother." Today, she claimed it was cause she doesn't think we'll get good sleep in a tiny bed together.

Ah well, no school! I don't know why, but this makes me so very happy.

I'm sick. My throat is ill.
