Mood: decaffeinated
I can't have caffeine this NoNoWriMo season. Being decaffeinated in normal day to day life is hard. I suspect it will be even harder for NaNoWriMo.
My working title this year will be: "Walk in Danger"
I've decided to use yWriter to organize my novel. I've decided that each day will be a new chapter and the scenes can be moved around based on when I have a chance to write them.
I have an AlphaSmart 2000, an old version but it works jsut fine. Essentially, it's a keyboard with a 4-line screen and some memory. It can run for hundreds of hours on just 3 AA batteries. So it's very portable, more so than my netbook even. They weigh the same but the netbook has a smaller keyboard and significantly less battery life.
My Tools:
yWriter for organization.
AlphaSmart 2000 for writing away from distractions.
and "Write or Die" for fast writing when I get distracted by life and just need to get the words out.
It seems like a winning combination for this year's NaNoWriMo...

Six weeks until NaNoWriMo 2009 starts. I kept a blog last year, before and during, mostly to just keep things together. Characters, descriptions, settings. Nothing written in these six weeks before can be used towards wordcount but I don't do well writing without some sort of planning. In 7 years of trying, I've only won twice and those were the years when I planned beforehand. I have paper notebooks and the netbook and the desktop and an alphasmart. A blog is a good way to hold everything together for when I start so that I can find it when I need it.
