Topic Concerns: Javascript Code in Blogs

Hello All,

Once again we need feedback. Due to recent events we are thinking of dissallowing all javacsript in posts. This does not mean your blog template. This is because of spammers and their re-directs. We will be willing to compromise with something like:

[script][/script] If you do need Javascript present in your blog. This way spammers will not know about this. We are wondering what your thoughts are. I just did a search and of all the blogs on Aeonity only 10 blogs were found with Javascript in them. This is why we are willing to compromise.

Let us know!

I see no need for javascript in posts and would have no problem with it being disallowed.

i think the [script] tags would be a good idea. that way the people that actually do use javascript, can keep their stuff.

then if it's still a problem you could disallow it..i say give it another chance happy.gif

For now we will disallow it. We will work on the tags. The 10 people are users who have not been on since September.

Some counters do require some javascript. So this is something to think about.

Like I said this would ONLY effect the blog posts, not the template.

I don't know enough about it to care... lol perfect~

But what if you add a javascript within the template. Boom there's the redirect. A simple meta redirect would work.

I don't know why I'd use javascript. I think most users will be just fine without it.

i'd never use it in my blog. maybe a template for some special menus or something but never just a normal entry.

maybe it could be something people have to request using the contact form?

Being able to have js in the template is an attractive feature for me but I can't understand why anyone would *need* to use js in an entry, unless for unsavory purposes.
