Bible Study: Confessing Sin - Subscribe

07.01.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Tuesday July 1, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 31-39 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2031-39&version=9 Today we will read and learn about David's trust in God; the blessedness of forgiveness; the Lord hears the righteous; David's prayer for safety; David's confidence in God; the destruction of the wicked; the prayer of a penitent heart; and the briefness of life. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that our failures do not need to be our future. Confession of our sin as an offence against God will bring restoration of His purpose for us and blessings beyond measure.. In constant danger, trouble, grief, or humiliation, David trusted God and went straight to Him in prayer. "In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." (Psalms 31:1-3). Praise in our worship services, at mealtime, and during daily devotions is good and right and fills our hearts with joy. But, the psalmist went beyond the expected times of worship and praise because he was continually expressing love and devotion to the Lord. When Nathan the prophet confronted David with his iniquity, he confessed his sin and his need for mercy and forgiveness. And the Lord forgave David, not only for his sins, but also for the iniquity of his sin. "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah." (32:1-5). Iniquity means more than rejecting God's Word. It means perverting His Word to say something more or less than has been written in the only God-inspired Book. The inevitable result of iniquity is always misery and unhappiness. There can be no lasting peace and joy until sin is sincerely confessed and forsaken. A sincere believer is often tempted by Satan to fear that his faith is too weak, that his desire is not upright or as earnest as it should be, or that his surrender is not complete. When we desire spiritual maturity two things are good to remember, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand." (37:23-24). We should also consider that when we received Christ as our Savior and Lord, we were born again. It is the loving desire of God to gain first place in the hearts of all His children. He imparts His love and power to all who are willing to yield themselves to Him. As we yield to God, we become conformed to the image of His Son. We then discover great joy in loving the things that He loves. Time given in reading, praying, planning, and doing for Christ is indispensible for spiritual growth and prepares us in humility to depend entirely upon the Lord Himself. Suspension of progress, obstacles, and setbacks remind us of our need every day to be dependent upon His great wisdom provided in His Word. In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the prophecy that not one of His bones would be broken as recorded concerning His crucifixion (Psalm 34:20). When they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they did not break His legs. (John 19:32-36). Both Chapters 31 and 34 are considered Messianic Psalms. Can you find Christ and the Crucifixion in them? Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, Nothing brings abiding peace more than knowing that we are saved from the penalty of sin and that we are firmly grounded in Your holy precepts. It makes us feel safe in a struggling world that continues to search for knowledge from all the wrong sources. We are sound in our outlook when we align our understanding and convictions with the teachings of Christ, His disciples and the prophets of old. We speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor from the authority of this world that changes from year to year. Our wisdom is based upon our knowledge and understanding of You, our eternal Father, the One who changes not. In You we are saved and we are sound. Praise Your matchless, holy name. In Jesus' name.....Amen. Have a great and wonderful day! God Bless, Christina Visit A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |

Bible Study: Our Daily Needs Jul 2nd, 2008 10:22:51 am - Subscribe

Our Daily Needs 07.02.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Wednesday July 2, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 40-45 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2040-45&version=9 Today we will read and learn about praise for answered prayer; David's enemies; his longing for God's presence;and a prayer for deliverance from present troubles. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we are to trust in the Lord for our daily needs, especially during these uncertain times. David was forcibly separated from his palace and worship at the Temple as well as participation in the God-prescribed festivals. For about 10 years David was in exile and constantly on the move. Wherever he was in hiding he was persistently being harassed by Saul and his army who were searching to kill him. His longing was for the living God who loves His children and seeks their love, listens to their prayers and faithfully provides and protects. "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?" (Psalm 42:1-3) Even while David was forced to be a fugitive, there was often evidence that the Lord was providing for and protecting him. David could not realize that his trials were the method God used to develop his spiritual life. In the midst of trials he was able to say, "Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah." (44:4- ![]() It was foretold by the psalmist that the Messiah, our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ who is King of kings, would always uphold truth, meekness and righteousness. "My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty. And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things." (45:1-4). In contrast, many kings are known for their ruthless, oppressive cruelty. Because the Lord Jesus is the only begotten sinless Son of God, David was inspired to write of Him. The Apostle Paul quoted from Psalm 45 concerning Jesus as the Son of God, "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." (Hebrews 1:8-9). Loving only what is right and hating all wrong is one of the numerous attributes of Christ. Although we often fall short, those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior also desire to express the attributes of loving righteousness and hating lawlessness. Since Christians collectively are the Bride of Christ, we desire to express the characteristics of the One we represent. The King sees only beauty in His Bride and we, in turn, recognize Him as our Lord and worship Him. "So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him." (Psalm 45:11). This means that He must have our undivided love and allegiance. In the midst of trying and uncertain circumstances, the Lord has assured us of His loving care over our lives. No Christian needs to fear what the future may be. We are to trust the Lord for today's necessities and not worry about what we eat or drink because God provides us with all of our needs. "Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Luke 12:27-31). In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed as One who delights in and will do the will of God (Psalm 40:6- . Jesus said that His purpose on earth was to do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work (John 4:34)Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, You know the very intention of all that I say and do. As I invite You to examine my heart, I lay before You the people and pursuits that drive me further away from a heart of worship. You have not removed me bodily from this world, but You have raised me up spiritually to abide in Your presence even as I carry out my daily duties. As Your presence graciously overshadows me it is there that Your love and faithfulness sustains me and gives me a true heart of worship. Even as a vehicle needs fuel to properly function, I need prayer to uphold and equip me for the day that lies ahead. In Jesus' name.....Amen. Have a wonderful day! Healing Through Repentance 07.03.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Thursday July 3, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 46-51 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2046-51&version=9 Today we will read and learn about the psalmist's confidence and praise of God; the deception of worldly wealth; and a prayer for mercy and forgiveness. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that even though it hurts our pride to admit that sin is our own choice and not someone else's, it is only when we truly confess and repent of the sin will we get the healing that we need. David disregarded the Word of God when he lusted after the beautiful wife of his neighbor, Uriah the Hittite, one of his most loyal soldiers. While Uriah was at war, David committed adultery with Uriah's wife. Through a planned military maneuver initiated by David, Uriah was killed allowing David to legally marry Bathsheba. It appeared to be a happy ending for David and Bathsheba until Nathan, the fearless prophet of God, appeared and denounced the king's selfish and wicked sins (See II Samuel 12). David's awareness of sin and pleas for forgiveness are very intense in Psalm 51. He prayed eagerly and sincerely, "Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest." (Psalm 51:1-4). God is merciful to all repentant sinners. "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness." (51:10-14). In answer to David's sincere prayers, God forgave him. But the result of his sin was personal shame and suffering for the rest of his life, as well as many tragic personal and national consequences years later. David did not attempt to justify his actions or shift the blame to someone else. He had a right estimate of sin. He did not elevate himself as one who was above the Law since he was the king, but admitted his rebellion against God and His Holy Law and although their first relationship was adultery, it was forgiven. David then took Bathsheba as his wife and Bathsheba gave birth to Solomon. We wish that this blight upon David's life had not happened, but it was recorded, not only to reveal the deception and never-ending devastation of lust, but to let us know that God forgives our sins when we repent and pray as David did. This holds out hope to the sinner who truly repents that he can experience the mercy and forgiving love of God. It also teaches the inescapable consequences of sin. In our fallen nature, we are prone to make excuses for our sins by blaming circumstances, someone else, the tendencies which we have inherited, or the lack of training which we did not receive. Or, as Adam did, we may even blame God (Genesis 3:12). But sin is never justified and is always hated by God. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." (Galatians 5:22-26). In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who will judge His people (Psalm 50:4). The Lord Jesus Christ will judge the living and the dead at his appearing. (II Timothy 4:1). Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, I know that I have done wrong through thoughts, actions, and or things that I have said, sometimes by mistake and sometimes on purpose. I have gone my own way and not put you at the center of my life. I am very sorry and ask that you please forgive me. I thank you that I can ask you this because I truly believe that your Son, Jesus, died in my place and, through Him, I have access to you. Please help me to follow you more closely every day and live a life which gives glory back to you. In Jesus' name....Amen. Have a great and wonderful day! Bible Study: Overcoming Betrayal Jul 6th, 2008 5:42:27 am - Subscribe

Overcoming Betrayal 07.05.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Saturday July 5, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 52-59 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2052-59&version=9 Today we will read and learn about the tendency of a corrupt tongue; foolishness of atheism; a prayer for protection; a cry against deceitful friends; and the psalmist's trust in God. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that we will all face betrayal at one time in our lives, but trusting in God will help us to overcome this and strengthen us to be of healp to others. In these psalms David contemplates some discouraging times in his life. He was heartbroken over the revolt that was led by his rebellious son that ended with the death of Absalom. He must have been surprised and heartbroken also to discover that his own son turned the peoples heart's against him and declared himself king. On top of that his friend, and most trusted adviser Ahithophel, had not only joined Absalom, but had also asked to personally execute him. David was shaken with grief, "Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company." (Psalm 55:10-114). He expressed his deep disappointment in the hypocrisy and treachery of this one whom he called his trusted advisor and friend. However, he committed his sorrows to the Lord and trusted solely in Him as he had done from his youth. He had assurance that God was able to sustain him in every trial and would accomplish His purpose for his life. Therefore, he concluded that psalm by saying, "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into." (55:22-23). David spoke out of the realization that those who were seeking his downfall were, in reality, opposing God. Every servant of God probably has had similar experiences. Since we are the Lord's servants, we should not be greatly surprised when we are disappointed, deceived, or even betrayed by others. In fact, the wounds that cut us the deepest are sometimes inflicted by those who are closest to our hearts. "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." (John 15:18-20). We are to put our trust in the Lord to help us overcome all persecution that we face. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." (Matthew 5: 8-12). In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who saves those who will call on Him (Psalm 55:16-17). "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Acts 2:21). Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, In our attempt to get even with our offender, we can do irreparable harm not only to our wrongdoer, but most especially to ourselves. Lord, You heal the broken-hearted and console the wounded as they seek You in the midst of their affliction, whether it is a fresh wound or an old injury. Our affliction from others is earthbound, but our affection for You is heavenbound where there will be no more heartaches or pain. Keep us steadfast and faithful till that appointed time. In Jesus' name......Amen. Enjoy the rest of your day and weekend and a Happy Belated 4th to you all in ther USA. God Bless, Christina Visit: A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |

Bible Study: Our Refuge Jul 6th, 2008 8:55:15 pm - Subscribe

Our Refuge 07.06.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Sunday July 6, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 60-66 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2060-66&version=9 Today we will read and learn about David's prayer for deliverance from his enemies; his confidence in God's promises; and David's exhortation to praise God for His goodness. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that no matter what circumstances we face or how long they seem God is our refuge and preparing us for great things. The country to the east of Jordan into which David had been forced to retreat from Absalom was not part of the Lord's promised land. In what seemed like a foreign country, the psalmist felt exiled from God's people and banished from God's presence. "O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah." The word Selah means to stop and think about what has been said. (Psalm 60:1-4). He was far from the city that he loved most, from his home, from his throne, and from the Tabernacle of his God, but even more serious and fearful. While David was exiled from his loved ones and the physical comforts of royal status, he pleaded to God, "Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah." (61:1-4). Although his desolate situation seemed like the end of the earth, David was confident that his True Source of security from his enemies was the living God Himself, who was like a great tower of protection. Making God our strong tower means recognizing that His followers are in the protective care of the invincible God. Depression and frustration need not exist in the life of one who believes that God is the only strong tower from the enemy in the face of evil forces. Like David, we can depend upon the Lord for protection and provision, regardless of how hopeless our circumstances may seem or how long they seem to last. Although David's difficult circumstances remained the same for many years, he continued to declare, "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God." (62:5-7). He then turned his thoughts to others who faced trials and suffering and continued by encouraging all of us to trust in Him at all times."Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah." (62: . It is a comfort to know that through everything we face in life God is our refuge and preparing us for greater things to come.In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through the Rock - the unmovable, eternal, unchanging Savior (Psalms 61:2; 62:2,6-7). Jesus is the Rock of our salvation. "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." (I Corinthians 10:4). Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, As we live by faith and not by sight we see much of what the world does not see because we see it through eyes of faith. By faith we see a risen Savior who died for us and who is now interceding on our behalf. By faith we see the day when all the saints will be gathered in the clouds to meet Jesus in the air. By faith we believe that life’s trials will be worth it all when we are ushered into the pearly gates and gather with saints of all the ages to praise our glorious Savior around the throne. It is by faith that we come to Jesus and it is by faith that we will stay the course. For it is not the one who runs the swiftest nor the one who runs for a day, but the one who endures to the end that will be saved. The struggles of this life diminish when we walk by faith and not by sight. Navigate our steps as we journey here below. In Jesus' name.....Amen. Enjoy the rest of your day. Bible Study: Praise & Rejoice Jul 7th, 2008 11:16:21 am - Subscribe

|
Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Monday July 7, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 67-71 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2067-71&version=9 Today we will read and learn about the blessings of God upon His people; His judgment upon His enemies; David's prayer in time of trouble; and a prayer of praise and thanksgiving. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that the joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is never understood by the fallen world and its perverted standards. We need to press on and praise God in the midst of all that we endure. "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah." (Psalm 67:1-4). This psalmist encourages everyone to rejoice and sing for joy, singing and giving praise to God always brings satisfaction and peace of mind. While we wait for Jesus to return from heaven, the psalmist also reminds us to rejoice in God, "But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him." (68:3-4). JAH is short for the Name of Jehovah which also means Yahweh, who is ever in the present. Let us join with the psalmist in a proclamation of praise and adoration for Jesus Christ, our wonderful Savior and Lord, who generously pours out His blessings upon us. The man who trusts in God is led to praise Him irrespective of life's ups and downs. Christianity has been misrepresented by Satan and his crowd as a cheerless, gloomy, dull experience. Even the dark and trying experiences of life can produce good blessings as we realize that trials are often a blessing in disguise and that temporal loss can result in spiritual enrichment. So a Christian's greatest losses and crosses may lead to his greatest gains and joys. However, it is far otherwise with the rebellious. "God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land." (68: . To them trials, sorrows, and losses are unfortunate evils. They rebel against trials; and earthly losses often lead to bitterness the rebellious dwell in a dry land. The brightest prospects of sinful enjoyment eventually leave their victims empty and wretched. To Christians the future is radiant, beautiful, and inviting. At the close of life, they look expectantly forward to meeting their Savior, Jesus Christ, who abolished death (Revelation 20:6; 21: . "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:14-16).In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the One who led captivity captive (Psalm 68:1 . With His resurrection power, Jesus broke the captive power of Satan. When He led the Old Testament saints from paradise into heaven, He led captivity captive.Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, For many the circumstances in life are so uncertain. The solutions to our problems can be very perplexing and seem beyond our grasp. There are many things about tomorrow that we don't seem to understand, but we know who holds tomorrow, and we do know who holds our hand. Thank you, God, that You don't expect us to have all the right answers or to fully understand all that concerns us. You simply want us to trust You as we hold on to Your unchanging hand. In Jesus' name.....Amen Have a wonderful day and week. God Bless, Christina Visit: A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |

Bible Study: Focus on God Jul 8th, 2008 10:18:05 am - Subscribe

Focus on God 07.08.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Tuesday July 8, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 72-77 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2072-77&version=9 Today we will read and learn about David's prayer for Solomon; the mystery of the prosperity of the wicked; the wicked and the proud rebuked; and the Majesty of God praised. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that worshiping God keeps us from putting too much emphasis on our own desires and allows us to focus on His will for our lives and not on what we have or do not have for ourselves. The end comes for mighty King David's reign. Old, feeble, and near death, he prays his last prayer, not for his son, but for the one put in charge of God's people. "Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son. He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations." (Psalm 72:1-5). A series of psalms is attributed to Asaph, David's song leader. He laments: "Woe is me" and "It's not fair" as he sees the wicked prosper. Then he praises God that the righteous triumph. His transition from severe struggles to ultimate victory revealed the integrity of his heart. In self-pity he had complained, "Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end." (73:12-17). During one point in his life, he became critical as he saw those who blasphemed God prospering and enjoying life while those who worshiped the Lord were having great difficulties. Through the passing centuries this has been a problem for many Christians who don't understand enough about His Word. Keep in mind that the psalmist was not describing the facts, but rather what seemed to be the facts. He wondered why the wicked were not plagued with sufferings that the child of God had to endure, but he gained a true perspective of life's problems when he went into the Sanctuary of God and understood their end. Let a man enter into worship, praise God and commune in prayer with Him and, spontaneously, that soul will be humbled, his pride and presumption will perish, and fresh insight will cause him to confess before God, "So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory." (73:22-24). The disciple who accepts the course of life's events as being under God's control will trust Him and thank Him in humble prayer for the needed grace and many blessings of God given to them in the midst of their struggles. He will have taken the first step in the path that leads to daily fellowship with the Lord and a wholehearted surrender to live entirely for Christ. When all other resources fail, we will discover that God, and God alone, is adequate to satisfy your every need. Draw near to Him and His presence will banish all your darkness and brighten and beautify your life with His Light, endless love, and loyalty. "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:31-33). In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed as the Righteous Judge who will crush the oppressors (Psalm 72:4). Psalm 75:8 describes the judgment of God upon those who refuse to accept the salvation so freely offered by Jesus, the Lamb of God (John 1:29,34-36) Today's Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am full of gratitude today as I consider Your abiding presence in my life. You planned my existence in my mother's womb before I even drew my first breath. When so many people have come into my life and exited it throughout the years You have taken up residence and You forever rule my heart. When the path before me was unclear You have always gone before me sustaining me in my wilderness journey. Though all forsake me You remain faithful, and remarkable as it seems, even if we are faithless, You will remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself. Thank You for being my Supreme Savior and the Sustainer of my soul. In Jesus' name, Amen. Have a great and wonderful day! God Bless, Christina Visit: A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |

Blessings Through Discouragement 07.09.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Wednesday July 9, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 78-80 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2078-80&version=9 Today we will read and learn about the Lord's judgment against disobedience; a prayer against enemies; and prayer for mercy and restoration. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that when times of discouragement come it is then when it is the best time to count our blessings and remember where the Lord brought us from. God had chosen Israel to be His witness to the world. As His people, they were to be an example of how He would bless all who honor Him and His Word; but, they had failed miserably and the glorious City of God was destroyed. By great signs and miracles, He delivered Israel from cruel slavery in Egypt. Furthermore, His gracious dealings with His people were manifested daily throughout their forty years in the wilderness. Nevertheless, again and again their spirit of discontent prevailed, "Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap. In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness." (Psalms 78:12-17). We are reminded of the pitiful heartbreak and awesome horror felt by the Israelites following the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem. They had assumed that, since they were the chosen Covenant people of God, they were secure. But they had chosen to disobey God's Covenant and His Commandments. The awful consequences of sin are inevitable. The psalmist cried out, "O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth. Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them." (79:1-3). Since the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, there has been no Temple, no Brazen Altar, no Laver, no Golden Candlestick, no Table of Showbread, no Ark of the Covenant, no Altar of Incense, and no scripturally observed Day of Atonement as commanded by God through Moses. All that was essential to cover their sins was destroyed at that time. Israel's sacrifices and feasts were symbols created by God to foreshadow all that was to be accomplished by Jesus the Messiah. With Jesus' sacrificial death, all of the Old Testament sacrifices for sins were made obsolete and the old sacrificial system under the Law was destroyed. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross made it possible for both Jews and Gentiles, who recognize themselves as lost sinners, truly repent, and receive Jesus as their Savior, to be forgiven of their sins. True, there are times when we are plagued by doubts and questions. This is the time to remember that after the Apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in his flesh to be removed, the Lord revealed to him a very precious truth, "And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (II Corinthians 12:7-9). Now there is the point that needs special emphasis. We need to realize that every Christian is the chosen of God and called out from among the world as lights through the darkness. As such, let us live our lives in childlike faith desiring above all else to please Him. God is longing for us to trust Him and look beyond our human resources to His all-sufficient supply. Our never failing God has promised to protect and keep us and we can rest in the promises of His Word. What is more, He always strengthens us for the work He has called us to do. In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the true Shepherd (Psalm 80:1). Christ is the Good Shepherd and the Door through which one must enter to be saved. He alone is the Way to heaven (John 10:9,11). Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, Spiritual blessings come from You in the midst of Satan’s attacks and because of this essential truth we know that if You are for us, who can be against us! There is no formidable foe that cannot be conquered as the power of Your Holy Spirit enables us to remain faithful and ever growing in our devotion to You. Remind us that as we share in Your sufferings we also share in Your glory. In all areas of trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, and danger we are more than conquerors through You who loves us abundantly. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, nor anything else in all of Your creation will be able to separate us from Your love that has been revealed to us through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ. We rejoice with our family of believers and we thank You for the paths of abundance You lay out before us as we walk hand in hand with You who helps us in all things. In Jesus' name.....Amen. Our Guide 07.10.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Thursday July 10, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 81-88 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2081-88&version=9 Today we will read and learn about God's goodness and Israel's waywardness; the blessedness of living in God's presence; David's desire to walk in truth, and a plea for God. Today we will learn the importance of realizing that one of the many things we learn as we worship God is to listen to the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth Sometimes the unbelieving world looks down on the Christian who turns his back on the pleasures of this world. But to be a servant of the Most High God is better than all the pleasure of a rich man's world. "My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.....For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee." (Psalm 84:2, 10-12). Christians enjoy a peace with God that surpasses all understanding of what the world believes. Both David and the psalmist knew God would not permit them to miss out on, or be deprived of, His best and He would direct each step of life's way. The Holy Spirit guided David to unite the only two weapons of our spiritual warfare, prayer and the inspired Word of God. Psalm 86 expresses the power we have when these become our way of life. "Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul." (86:1-4). David was the king of Israel he recognized the lordship of God over his life. He often spoke of himself as the servant of the Lord in the Psalms. David continued to worship and confess God's mercy and readiness to forgive. He expressed the utmost confidence that God listens to His people's prayers and is able to deliver them from all harm regardless of our circumstances, he also asked God to teach him to obey Him. "Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.......For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell......Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me." (86:11,13,17). The Christian who desires a closer relationship with the Lord does not depend upon previous learning to continue a day-by-day walk in the way of truth, but upon the continual daily guidance of God through His Word. Instruction is much more than just information; it is the means to understand His will and be obedient, it also includes the thought of correction. The child of God never graduates from the Spiritual school of instruction. That is why all of us need to read His Word each day. A sincere commitment to the Lord is essential. The Apostle Peter recognized this when he encouraged us to do the will of God. "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (II Peter 1:4- . We have the potential to live in obedience to His Word, but it requires voluntary submission and it's up to us to take the initiative to build our faith. In today's message Jesus Christ is revealed through Jerusalem, from where the psalmist declared all of the springs of joy and happiness emanate (Psalm 87:7). Jesus is the source of our joy as the angel announced at His birth (Luke 2:10). Have a great day full of many blessings. God Bless, Christina Visit A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |

Bible Study: Corrupted Thinking Jul 11th, 2008 9:37:22 am - Subscribe

Corrupted Thinking 07.11.08 Hello My Friend/Guest, It is Friday July 11, 2008 and today we are continuing our studies on the book of Psalms. Please read Chapters 89-100 in your Bible or Click Here to read. Cut & Paste to your browser: biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2089-100&version=9 Today we will read and learn about a cry for deliverance from death; praise for God's Covenant and promises; frailty and brevity of life; the protection of the faithful, praise for the loving-kindness of the Lord; an appeal for justice; and a call to sing, worship, and praise the Lord. Today's message focuses on the importance of realizing that satan will use many people, even family and friends to corrupt your way of thinking and believing in God and serving Him. Life is filled with both spiritual and physical dangers and the psalmist regarded God as a refuge and a fortress. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence." (Psalm 91:1-3). The godly recognize the need of a refuge during bodily pain, mental perplexities, sorrows, and struggles. The very nature of trials and testing involves the idea of possible failure. Bodily pain may result in bitterness; mental perplexities have sometimes led to unbelief. Since many spiritual conflicts can end in defeat, Christians must recognize their need for a refuge and fortress. They need to remember that their adversary, the devil wants to devour anyone who believes in God. "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." (91:9-12). Satan, a fallen angel, quoted Psalms 91:11-12 to Jesus after His 40-day fast in an attempt to persuade Jesus to leap off the pinnacle of the Temple (See Matthew 4:6; Luke 4:9-11). Satan was like some today who love the promises of God, but who disregard the conditions of those promises. They are not willing to sacrifice the lusts of the world in order to live the way He commanded. Our Lord set the example when He responded to Satan by quoting Scripture which warns not to tempt God. "Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." (Matthew 4:7). Satan has deceived many by saying: "Your situation is an exception" or "Just this one time" or "Be broad-minded, everyone is doing it." He also uses examples of hypocrites to deceive some by pointing out: "Religious people do these things, so why shouldn't you?" We must continually be on alert for those who try to corrupt our way of thinking, knowing the truth, and obeying God's commands. Many will come to you pretending to know God, but are just sheep in wolves clothing. "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:14-15). That is why it is so important to surround yourself with godly people and to read God's Word for yourself, get to know Him and understand Him. The more you read the more the Holy Spirit will help you understand. What you can not is revealed to you through preachers and teachers no different than you who have sacrificed the world to serve God and help the lost be found. In today's reading Jesus Christ is revealed through the Creator, "Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." (Psalm 100:3). "...which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 3:9b). Today's Prayer: Dear Lord, How grateful we are for those who have gone before us showing us the way. They not only instructed us in Your ways, but they lived exemplary lives so that we could see faith in action. We're grateful for their positive examples in our spiritual journey. We even pause to think of those who have taken a wrong direction only to turn away from all they held dear at one time. Would You remind us of the serious consequences of their sinful choices when we're tempted to do the same. We lift those people before You asking the Holy Spirit to convict and guide them back to the Way, the Truth and the Life. Keep us faithful to the very end so that as time unfolds we can declare with the apostle Paul, 'Now I am old and praise be to God for I am by His grace a prisoner of Christ Jesus, my Redeemer! In Jesus' name......Amen. Have a great and wonderful day and weekend. TGIF! God Bless, Christina Visit A Spiritual Guide aspiritualguide.net |
