Do you agree that the computer is more of a menace than a blessing?

I disagree that the computer is more of a menace than a blessing. The following are my reasons.
Computer was invented to help human beings do work such as calculation, storing of information and and processing of information. With the high-speed ability, computer makes our life more comfortable. It helps to do some complex calculations which even an advanced calculator cannot manage. Nevertheless, the accuracy and the neatness of the information done by the computer are simply fantastic.
Computer with a high-level capacity helps us to store the information or data in the computer neatly and systematically. We can also use the tools given by the computer to edit and beautify our text so that it can be more attractive to the audience. This helps us a lot in our presentation.
Nowadays, students are always asked to prepare a project in school. They surf the Internet to get more relevant information. It is easier and more reliable than searching through magazines and books. Besides, searching for information from books and magazines is a tiring and time-consuming job.
Moreover, computer may be a device that entertains us when we are free. It enables us to watch video compact-discs, listen to songs and play games. This helps us to relax ourselves. Besides that, computer especially a notebook is easier to be carried from one place to another. Therefore, we can use it to work, to calculate and even to watch a movie whenever we want to do so.
Computer also enables us to communicate with our overseas friends. We can email them or chat with them using the Windows Live Messenger program. With the aid of a web-cam, we can even make a video call to or go on video-conferencing with our friends. The most important thing is that computer is so easy to use and learn.
Computer does have its disadvantage. Sometimes, our computers may be infected by viruses. This may be fatal and all the information may be deleted. Therefore, we are always advised to have a back-up for the important information.
In my opinion, computer is more of a blessing than a menace.
(Mr. Yong’s comment: Sook Huey should have mentioned one or two more disadvantages of computer, such as the ease of manipulating important data and pornography. She is the first student to pass up her work for my blog. Well done, Sook Huey. Keep it up !)
