sometimes all i want to do is go back to where i came from.
my family is from merachine, an island off of placentia. nobody lives there anymore, since jerseyside was settled. sometimes i just daydream about me and a boy building a log cabin out there. i'd write a great novel or book and appreciate the forest and the sun like beatrix potter and virginia woolf and even miss honey from matilda.

we would use quilts when it was cold. there probably wouldn't be any electricity.
i would learn how to jig cod and take care of myself.
it would be hard, but rewarding.

we would wake up at the break of dawn and have breakfast together and start the day.

we would enjoy being away from each other and enjoy meeting in bed when the sun goes down.

surrounded with tools and with books.

living the life, i suppose.

lately i have been working more than some of the other part-timers. is pretty good because it doesn't inhibit my social life very much and i'm making more $$$.

i've also been having lots of fun. lots of shows, some of them reallllllllly shitty, some of them good.

recently, my dad made me a cupboard for my records.

i started going gray

managed to never have a normal face in photographs

had jonny over and i cleaned my room while he napped.

big ol' mess

clean as a whistle

i have a light in my office now, i just need to get myself organized.

said goodbye to april

hung out in my room more and listened to records

and then going out...
i went to the first mayday show (actually on mayday) at turner's. the class war kids are pretty good, i think. i'm glad that there is a poppy anarchy-driven punk band in st. john's again.
jess took a bunch of pictures of jen king and i in the washroom because jen had eyeliner all over her face and i am just ridiculous anyway.

we went to a lot of bars that night. we got into cbtg's and distortion for free. fuck i hate distortion.

i got fries from pizza supreme and we were walking down george street and some bouncer said "hey, are those french fries" i offered him some and i sort of felt like i should make conversation or something so i said "i am like totally stoked on these fries right now."
this is what happens when you make fun of a certain vernacular so much, it becomes your own! watch out, heed my warning! it was hilarious though.

i slept at jess' and totally forgot it was friday and that i would have no way to work. my mom was nice enough to drive me home to get my uniform.

friday i went to the ship and went on some adventures.

saturday night and last night i went to see jenny omnichord, the burning hell and jill stavely at cbtg's and the ship. the three are absolutely amazing. i had never heard any of them. jill staveley had a realllll low voice, mannerisms that reminded me of cherie pyne and sort of looked like frida kahlo. she sort of pulls at her guitar when she's playing.

jenny omnichord sounds like mirah and joanna newsom to me vocally and plays an omnichord. she covers the pixies- where is my mind, the guess who- these eyes and del shannon- runaway. other songs are about the two world class elvis impersonators in her town and ghosts on airplanes. she is very tiny and wears a knit hat and little dresses and red sneakers or shoes that look like they are from the middle ages. she has long braids and big eyes. she is 5 months pregnant and makes her cd's out of wood. i picked one up and ordered a burning hell cd. she played this one song from her upcoming album of children's songs. it's a duet with mathias from the burning hell about the family pet dying.

mathias sings lead and plays ukulele for the burning hell. he is short and wore black pinstripe pants, a black button up shirt and a tie with a clip each night. he has a little button nose, a really low voice and sympathetic eyes. they have funny disco songs about getting divorced and cover men without hats and have a glockenspiel player, as well as some sort of mouth organ. some of them have (ironic?) mustaches or haircuts. others are just plain cute. i would link the myspaces but everybody does that and the recordings don't do them justice. you could look them up and buy their albums i'm sure, but you just have to see them.
i think that st. john's showed them a good time, they want to live here.
mathias thanked me for coming back the second night. i wish i had known they were playing earlier and then i would have gone to all four shows.

saturday after the show i had a secret pizza party at a secret location.
i get home too late and then sleep all day.

slow down, traverse.

except for the fact that i stay out late every single night, i am the nicest girl in town.

all i do is listen to records and eat ice cream and french fries and wear pigtails.

trailer camp's last show was this weekend and it reminded me why i love st. john's. everyone was hot and sweaty. jess and i ended up dancing on stage. they finished with save your teeth. jamie sat on his floor tom with his snare on his bass drum and steve abbott held up his crash. jess and i hugged. i hope she doesn't go away. i'll miss that lady.
everyone is leaving me. i'll miss jonny, i already miss aryn, i'll miss dan murr...

hard times, for sure.
at least i have recently picked up black widow- sacrifice on vinyl (never opened), as well as loose nut on vinyl.
score!
