I see life as a monster,
and I its evening meal
...something...i can't remember the rest
I'll have to come back and finish it ^^

Here it is:

I see life as a monster
And I, its evening meal
Which once ingested
Upsets
So that I am expelled
From its belly upon the shore
Where I am once again to be devoured

velouria What Star Wars Character Are You? Nov 7th, 2006 6:30:01 pm - Subscribe
Even though "We're doomed" is your signature declaration, it's more of a comforting affirmation than a pessimistic prediction. Your Star Wars type is See-Threepio, the chatty protocol droid, and it's your gift for gab that comes in handy when you get yourself into a jam.

While you may be somewhat of a worrywart, it's only because your sharp mind and infallible logic fails to take into account the fact that you are also one lucky duck. You are also a friend, never forgetting a birthday or special occasion. Your work ethic is second to none, although your friends usually have to pry you away from whatever your latest project is just so you can have a little fun. Once they do, you can be the life of the party.

velouria Momentary Brain Malfunction Substitutions Oct 4th, 2006 5:10:57 pm - Subscribe
Some desire to speak concisely and cleverly and for the most part pull it off successfully. However, there are times when one’s brain is quite determined to malfunction!
It is in these trying times that we depend on some good ‘ole standby words to lighten up the conversation and get us through our stumbling, bumbling, and jumbling sentences.

Here is a selection of my favorite substitute words (although some are not recognized as words):

Whatchamacallit
Thingy
Thingamabob
Thingamajig
Doohickey
Doomahitchy
Doomaflatchy

I hate when I cannot think of a word! Unfortunately, I find myself using these words often! Haha 

Do you guys have any words (nonsense words) you use? hehehe

Wow...I have not posted here in weeks! I finished the semester out...I passed haha
I bombed my final though...it was horrible!

I'm so glad it's nice out now! Well...it does rain quite often, but at least it is warm!

My nieces are gettin so old! sad.gif
Tuesday, I had lunch with my older niece and her Advanced Studies class. We went to the Olive Garden for their "Italian Experience." Some field trip eh? I wish we could have done field trips like that when I was in school. You can make everything educational these days! haha

Tomorrow, my younger niece graduates from elementary school. She says that she "promotes," but I call it "graduation" hehe :-)

Today, my mom cut my hair! It had grown out 3 inches! I've needed a haircut forever! Now I just need to get my sis to touch up the ole highlights :-)

velouria Local Businesses - NOT Wal-mart! Apr 24th, 2006 1:06:57 pm - Subscribe
Wal-Mart is the blight of the United States! Having not bought from them in almost two years eases my mind a little, and to see that there are so many concerned citizens out there makes me feel better!
They came into my town years ago...I shopped there; I loved it!
Then after Sam Walton's death, I realized what their goal was: domination. They force mom & pop shops out of business. There is no way to compete with a power-buyer-and-seller.
Just last winter they left their building vacant and moved into the newly built Super Center about 2 miles down the road from the existing WM. They built it on beautiful farmland that once had horses playing in the fields. Now the part of town they were in is dying. Four restaurants have opened at the new location, while the restaurants at the other lose business.
The poor neighborhood where they built the Super Center! The light pollution is horrible! The crime rate will go up in that neighborhood. What is even sadder is that the families that lived around the new Super Center were renters. They were forced to move out and find another place to live.
Oh, and the trees! The beautiful trees! There are several HUGE oaks lining a driveway across the road from the SC. They will soon be gone...and no one cares.
Everyone is so greedy...thinking about themselves, not their kids or grandkids, not the effects on local businesses. Close down family-run businesses and offer them minimum wage jobs with scanty health benefits. Offer them a job making half what they previously made!

velouria My Niece Broke Her Teeth!!!!! Apr 21st, 2006 6:58:53 pm - Subscribe
I never did post this the other day!
Monday, my 13 year old niece was riding her bike around a church building. She hit a hole or something and hit a concrete wall with her face. She broke out her two front teeth! It was horrible. She is in middle school...and just remember those years...you didn't need to break out your teeth!
She was devistated, as we all were! My sister could hardly tell me. At least she didn't lose her eyesight or her life though!

Her knee was all scratched up as well as her chin, upper lip, and forehead. Her lip was quite swollen, and her nose looked broken from all the swelling.

She went to the dentist the next day. They gave her a root canal on one tooth. Then they made her two fake (plastic) teeth that she will have to wear until her 20s. Once her teeth stop growing, she can have some pretty veneer teeth made.

After the dentist visit she was in a lot of pain, and her gums were black with bruising.

This is NOT a picture of her teeth, but it's the closest thing I could find. I just took a pic, copied one side, and flipped it onto the other.

velouria End of Semester Nearing Apr 21st, 2006 6:38:47 pm - Subscribe
Well, my last official day of class is Monday. My final is on Wednesday. My instructor said today that no one would fail the class. I don't think she'd let anyone fail...that's pretty strange though. Not everyone should pass (in general). We review for the final exam on Monday.
I never did play Project Firestart again. I may play it this weekend.

velouria Project Firestart Apr 15th, 2006 6:20:13 pm - Subscribe
Well...I finished the game, but we died! I forgot to go to the radio room to let command know I had set self destruct. I ejected Mary in the waste pod, picked her up, SOSed, but no one received our SOS transmission! Grrrr....Our life support failed so we died.

Then I played again, but the Queen A. Promiveriate hatched (she killed the creatures who hatched her) and killed me. She's smart (she turned off the power), and she's as fast as I am. I was almost to the escape hatch but turned the wrong way sad.gif

All Your Games Are Belong To Us

I have been messing with an emulator that enables you to play Commodore 64 games! My sister and I used to play Project Firestart on C64. I have not made it through the game yet because I have not had time. It's scary!...or at least it was back then happy.gif

Lemon 64 is a website with all the Commodore 64 games on it! You can DL them and the emulator and play happy.gif
Here are some pics from the game. I've been playing it today happy.gif

You must rescue these two people and destroy the ship. The man leaves the woman to fend for herself.

A creature "A. Promiveriate" has escaped from the "firebox."

One of the creatures' victims.

A. Promiveriate (Scientific Name)

Mary sleeps peacefully in her cryogenic chamber.

A creature tries to break into the cryogenic room.

Mary was not saved because I (game player) was unable to reach her in time.

velouria Class - What a Drag, Man Apr 6th, 2006 5:10:00 pm - Subscribe
It's nearing the end of the semester, and I've been missing a lot of classes! Last week, I think I missed MW AND F lecture and made it only to F lab! I just missed because...let's face it...I'm irresponsible.
I missed on Monday morning because I had a migraine Sunday - Wednesday! We had really bad storms here on Sunday night. I woke up at 4AM with a migraine still (even after medication) and my area was under a tornado watch. I am terrified of tornadoes, so I could not sleep. I stayed up until 5AM then the alarm (clock, not tornado) went off at 8:30 AM. I still had a headache, so I didn't go to class. I went into work 2.2 hours late...but partly because I went shopping at the mall for about 30 minutes! haha (It actually felt good to be at the mall in the afternoon...strange) and I felt comparitively great.
Anway...I DID make it to class on Wednesday, but I didn't have all my labs (the ones I've been working on for about 3 blog entries haha). I have to finish two more tonight and finish my homework for this chapter. I also MUST make it to class tomorrow and lab. This is getting ridiculous! It's so frustrating too...no matter how early I get up or how hard I try to get there on time, I am still late late late.

IF I finish my Optics, I'm going to a dress rehersal for "Cinderella" at the college where I work.

Here's what I'm listening to: ipod Professor Teem

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sad.gif
I have a stinkin' cold sore!
I hate those things! so annoying...and this one is painful sad.gif
I'm having a pity party for myself tonight at 8:00PM Eastern. I hope everyone will join me (hehe)

I was hiding from everyone this morning at church. A really sweet lady came up and said, "hey...how are you?" then she stopped and was looking at my cold sore. I'm sure it was my imagination getting away from me, but she looked almost horrified! hahahha
ahhh...I was like, "I know...don't look haha"

I feel like a monster...it's really kind of funny though. blahh...and I have class in the morning. The cold sore is on the left side...the side that will face all my classmates when I sit down. (I sit on the right side of the room)
oh well...I'll survive :-)

velouria Shards of Glass Mar 30th, 2006 2:20:27 pm - Subscribe
I came home last night to find my kitchen floor strewn with glass. While I was away in the day/evening, my kitchen window fell out, pane and all! Today I am taking the pane to be repaired. Then I have to reinstall the windowpane...blahhhh. I just had the other pane from the same window repaired a few months ago. So, now I'll at least have two new sheets of glass in my window!

I don't know when my window fell out (haha...sounds funny that it "fell out") so there's no telling how long my cats were prancing on broken glass. They seemed to be drawn to it! Stinking curious cats haha tounge.gif

UPDATE: After I took my window to be repaired, I was leaving and heard this ::click click click:: noise as I drove away. I was like, "great...is something in my tire?" Sure enough, a hex-head screw was in my RR tire!!!! So, I had to go by a Maxi Muffler, and the gentleman there was nice enough to put some air in my tire so I could make it to Pep Boys. Then I was at PB about an hour because another car was ahead of mine. blahh...

After I finally made it back home, I cleaned and installed my window. happy.gif woohoo
Although it was under bad circumstances, I did actually accomplish two tasks today. That is big for me. Unfortunately, it seems those situations are the only times I accomplish things without too much trouble. ::sigh::

I made it through the day though...and didn't have to go to work since I was busy with broken windows and flat tires all day :-) hehe

What a day! haha

velouria My Job is-a Drivin' Me Crazy... Mar 27th, 2006 12:08:00 pm - Subscribe
Work drives me crazy! Our boss gives us ridiculous "busy" work. My co-workers seem to be fine with it..."okay...yeah...we'll do it...no problem" and I'm like, "NO GRRRR I don't want to do this! This is stupid! You could get this info from the system by running a program instead of having us to look up 1000+ records one at a time!" Then I know after we have all done this manually, she is going to want (probably) me to put the info into Excel. If I'd had the Excel worksheet to begin with, it would have been MUCH easier!
Maybe I just need to work for myself...I've been self-employeed before. Argh!

4:30 PM UPDATE: Yep! I knew it! My boss just came in here and said she'd send me the Excel file so I could input all the data (1000 people times 2 plus some extras) grrrrrr
When you transfer written data into excel, there is a bigger risk for mistakes than if everyone had input them as they went! So if mistakes pop up guess who gets the blame... I do! sad.gif
This will REALLY stink! angry.gif sad.gif
::crossing arms:: I ain't gonna do it! (haha)

I have procrastinated (as usual). I do NOT want to do them...it takes two hours to do one...or at least it took me two hours to do the first one! blahhhhhhhhhh yuck yuck yuck (I sound like a baby hehehe) tounge.gif

I skipped class on Monday and Wednesday, so who knows what's waiting for me Friday eep.gif
