Explains how Brake Check contacted me in regards to my Brake Check Sucks entry and refunded my money for labor.

Location:
Brake Check #414
(210) 692-3730
8003 Fredericksburg Rd.
San Antonio, TX 78229

On April 29th 2006, while I was in Del Rio I was contacted by Luis Forero of Brake Check in regard to my content Brake Check Sucks. He stated that he was calling me in regard to the defaming statement that I had placed on the internet. He said that he would like to have me in and show how the company's customer service has improved greatly since. He stated that he would like to set up an appointment with me on Monday so that we could have a discussion. Monday came around and I was unable to call Mr. Forero due to my work hours. But on Wednesday I was able to get a hold of Mr. Armando Flores the manager for Brake Check at the corner of Fredricksburg and Medical here in San Antonio. He stated that we could get together this weekend and that he would be contacting me later this week regarding a response back.

On Saturday I recieved a call from Mr. Armando Flores of Brake Check asking if it was at all possible to come in at 4pm. I agreed. When I arrived at the store both Mr. Luis Forero and Armando Flores explained to me how the business that they undertook with my vehicle was indeed rendered. They also asked me if I still even had the vehicle. I stated 'yes' at which point they asked if I have had any brake work done since. I stated 'no'. As they were justifying their point. Mr. Luis Forero stated I was entitled to my opinion and they were not going to buy me out regarding my Brake Check Sucks entry, "I was not going to be their first upset customer nor would I be the last". I explained to them it was not the fact that they did the work, it was how I did not give permission for the work, and how I repeatedly had to return to Brake Check for check engine light problems. They understood and after a story from Mr. Forero regarding a possible Brake Check incident, they offered to return my money for the labor.

Approx $270.00 will be cut in a check form from their Corporate Office.

Glad they were man enough to live up to their word. Maybe this will teach them to perform activities without consent, or to try and rip-off the end user. You never know who you piss off and what type of re-percussion may come for it. I mean shoot google "Brake Check" you come up 2nd to them.

Wow sorry to hear about that Scott. I could understand why the company went after you, but what I dont understand is why they did not want to work it out with you. Its very biazarre how they treated you, and how they treated me. Comment back if your still around the net. On when you are going through your proceedings.

hi from up north i have to make a comment in regards to this sad experience from my perspective.
1.legally DEMAND a FULL refund.
2.the check engine light has nothing to do with brakes on a vehicle the toyota dealer should have informed you of this while still adressing your problem.
3.ALL work must be authorized by phone or writting in order to be preformed.
4.you said the vehicle was modified?how?they must give you a written explaination of this...do you have one?
i am a owner operator of a shop and i feel shame when i hear of bad business practices from any of our fellow competitors' yet i also feel that putting up a web page lumping us all together is also unjust as well....as for the gent who says 1-2hrs for those simple brakes well good luck not all cars/trucks are the same....if they were that simple we would not need schooling or tech seminars...but hey we are all incompetent when people are not armed with proper knowledge of maint. and repair and what is involved in this.
i honestly feel for your predicament but i think you should seek legal counsell before you all pass judgment on any repair facility...we are not all bad.
i want people to leave my shop saying hey those guys were good at what the do and i want to come back.money well spent.
good luck i hope you get resolution

To Shop Owner:

Your last statement, "I want people to leave my shop saying hey those guys were good..."

The best way to do that is make sure your shop practices good business and get a good reputation and monitor your shop. What seems to happen with Brake Check is that they either tell or it is "assumed" to mess up someones car. With how many people complained on the "Brake Check Sucks" blog there is something going on with that shop.

Not all shops are bad, and you are right that is why we have brake shops, because not everyone is mechancially inclined, nor do they have the proper tools or training.

All in all Brake Check screwed over too many people from what I read for me to even CONSIDER ever going there. The best way to be known is do good service. Honestly that is why I do my own brakes, because my sister got screwed over and I know too many people who get taken advantage of. I read up on my car and my brakes work great.

Like I said before, do a good job and people will come back. Do a bad job, like Brake Check, well your going to lose a lot of income by people not coming back for their next brake check-up.

As a final note, I program for a living, you would not want to pay me for a webpage that you have never seen before nor gave me the go ahead to make it. I am in the same boat about brakes.

If you think Brake Check is bad, search Just Brakes.

update: Luis Forero is now working at the 11329 W Loop 1604 location. He seems to be continuing his reign of terror as his employees managed to damage all 4 of my wheels while diagnosing my brakes. He denies that this happend of course.
