David is right, it is hard to say. The most common spot would be C : / Program Files/xxxxxxx

I put xxxxxx because I am not sure if it would be "Gopher" or if there is another company who makes "Gopher", but that is where it would be located at.

I complied with all the instructions,
but as soon as I hit "get the song" I get an error pop up that states, "could not retrieve songlist from the target ID, Please try again!"

is it supposed to do that every time?
I gave it some time but it's still doing it.
am I doing anything wrong?

You are right frost, and it is still working today, Wed. Dec. 26, and on Vista Home Premium no less!! Thank you david, I was forced to go this route because several of my friends on MySpace are awesome bands, singers and songwriters, and they occasionally give you a free download. Well, I can't get Firefox (my preferred browser) nor Internet Exploder to download the songs. david, your easy and excellent instructions are a God send, and for what it's worth anonymous, MP3 Gopher does work. Just follow the directions and you should be good to go. Kudos david!!

Alright, so... I've been looking for a live link on this one, and this seems to be the only viable option available.

I'm having some trouble, though... For some reason, when I go through the process, the Flasher player doesn't load in the little "Gopher" window - it just stays white for some reason.

I have the latest version of flash, I've cleared my Internet cache, and I've hit "default" a million times. :-p

I did the same thing as everyone else - waited for a while then hit download and nothing at all happens - no file appears where you said you wanted it saved. ight it's like this when you double click the file you want, you hit download, then play button as you did... for your fault this is the solution. when you give the prompt of where you want to save the file as a mp3.. save it on your desktop so you can find it there..

If The Artist doesn't allow "adding" or "buying" for the songs on the new play list, then Gopher doesn't work. If the allow these things then it does work. Someone go to the myspace page of a band named YOB. Let me know if you can get the song "Burning the Altar". I am leobuzzo666 on my space.

Keep in mind all that this program does is play the music from myspace, and records it with gopher. Gopher also does the conversion to mp3. The files are low quality 96 to 128 if your lucky.

ok so i used the program exactly as instructed, it said sucess downloading blah blah blah. it created an MP3 in my documents that was only 400 bytes!!! i tryed again, same deal! whats going on with this??

myspace now uses rtmp protocol to stream their mp3 , still you can download the mp3 using rtmpdump to download the mp3 as raw flv’s and ffmpeg to convert it back to mp3

How do you know flash player is fully loaded? when it stops blinking? and how long does it take, clicked on the download and then it told me to play the song, does it finished downloaded the file after the song is done playing?

To get friend id on the new Myspace Music Layout:

Right click or Press Edit, -> View Source

Search using Find (Ctrl+F or Edit Find)

Enter in this: data-friendId

The first or top most one is it eg: data-friendId="123", 123 is it.

However for some reason this no longer works.

if you can't load flash player, there's a big chance you're using chrome on windows seven. chrome has embedded flash player, and windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit) has stopped using flash.ocx, the needed file for the goper to work.

what you need to do is open internet explorer and install the latest version of adobe flash player active x, I hope this helps,
