Explains how Winamp 5.5+ installs the Winamp Toolbar, and I will show you how to remove it easily.
As many of you probably already experienced that Winamp is no longer the Winamp you and I have learned to love. It is now a serious, streaming, cd playing, auto ripping, visual displaying, media center playlist machine. Well with all that great stuff implemented, the new Winamp Toolbar has also been featured in Winamp 5.5, and I am more that sure will be installed in other versions.
How to Remove the Winamp Toolbar from Internet Explorer, with ease.
The process is really simple, and I'm sure you overlooked the process, thinking it may be spyware or some other malware...well its not.
Go to Start
Control Panel
Add or Remove Programs
Find Winamp Toolbar (AOL LLC) 2.04MB
Uninstall from C:Program FilesWinamp Toolbar
Reboot
Wow, wasnt that easy! Well thats all there is to it. I really found no use for the Winamp Toolbar, and I personally found it as an addition to AOL's bloatware.

You are my hero! Not only is the process easy, but your explanation is crystal clear. Thanks! Now, if you just had instructions for how to keep AOL to keep from popping up with AIM, IM, and e-mail windows when I start up and intermittently thereafter ... Cheers! |

I have IE and when I go to the add remove winamp is listed as Winamp Toolbar for Firefox. When I click the change/remove it tells me
Please use settings menue of the Winamp Toolbar to remove the Winamp Toolbar for Firefox: Settings - > Uninstall.
The Winamp Toolbar can also be removed via the Firefox browser. In the browser menu , simply click:
Tools, > Add-ons > Winamp Toolbar >Uninstall
Well so much for all those instructions. I got as far as Tools > and there is no link or option for add-ons.
The ende result I still have that winamp search toolbar in internet explorer and winamp has no customer support.

I always thought WINAMP had a good reputation. Not being able to remove the Winamp toolbar for Firefox in the traditional manner sux in the extreme. It is massively shameful that Winamp is so invasive on our computers. Booooo Winamp!!!!!!!!!! Heard they sold out to a big Corporation. |

If I go to the Control Panel, I get some instruction, but when I search for them, there nowhere to be found |

I found a solution for uninstalling the damn thing... You might have more than one User Account. Log into the administrator account and start there Firefox. You should see it under Options (see above).
Good luck. |

Long time ago i recommended winmp to everybody because it played mp3. VLC fill that gap today. VLC is free software and has no add($)ware.
- Uninstall Winamp toolbar (everything with winamp in the name).
- Uninstall firefox, select to remove settings as well.
- Install Firefox again.

this worked for me:
1. Click on the winamp toolbar icon. It will bring up a menu
2. Click on manage toolbars. It will bring up a list of toolbars you have installed on your computer.
3. Click on the winamp toolbar. Click remove.
4. Now its gone! |

I've had this toolbar stuck on my computer for over a year now. Could you recommend any freeware that can forcefully remove a program. I've come upon some, but they all need me to but they're all trial versions, and they tell me that I need to buy the full version to forcefully uninstall. Can you help? If not, how in the world do we remove this if we have IE? It's not listed under add-ons for me either, but it's in the "Set Programs Access and Defaults". I get the same message as the rest of ya'll, though. Help, please? |

I have successfully removed the toolbar, but the winamp search page still pops up. Its really annoying.
