PayPal Here Card Reader Not Working on Apple iOS 7

I received an email from PayPal stating that there is an issue with it's PayPal Here Card Reader and iOS 7. This includes your iPad & iPhone.

Fix PayPal Here Card Reader

quote:
Dear David Polanco,

In order to swipe cards using the PayPal Here™ card reader on iOS 7.0, you need to allow PayPal Here to access the microphone. After updating to iOS 7.0 on your iPhone® or iPad®, do the following:

  • Log in to the PayPal Here app. Plug in the card reader and you will be prompted to allow PayPal Here to access the microphone. Select OK.

If you skip this prompt you can also access your microphone settings as follows:

  • Go to Settings> Privacy> Microphone. Turn PayPal Here to green.

If you are not using iOS 7.0, no action is needed as you will continue to be able to swipe cards with PayPal Here. Please keep these instructions in mind if you do upgrade to iOS 7.0.

As a reminder, please ensure you have installed the most recent version of the PayPal Here app to take advantage of all the latest updates and improvements.

    Sincerely,

    PayPal

  • There you go, if you have questions leave a comment, and I will see what I can do to help out out.

I keep getting a message to turn on location services which are on. I can't get past that screen. So annoyed!

We have the same problem with the location services error message.
Location services are on, mic is up, app/iOS are up to date.
Contacted PP, they filed a ticket to look into it. No news yet.

    Anyone find a solution?

Why does the app need to access the microphone? This shouldn't be a requirement
