Real Alternative Codec
Tierd of having Realplayer, and all the bloat ware that it contains? Well with this new codec you can use your Microsoft Windows Media Player to play those Real Player Files (.rm, ram).
You do need a player that is capable of playing RealMedia. The included Media Player Classic supports it and works very well. Supported: RealAudio (.ra .rpm), RealMedia (.rm .ram .rmvb .rpx .smi .smil), RealText (.rt), ReadPix (.rp), RealMedia embedded in webpages. .smi and .smil files sometimes only play the first part of a clip. This is a limitation of the current Media Player Classic. The RealMedia Browser plugin supports Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape and Mozilla.

Seems kind of odd to switch from the real player to the even more bloated Microsoft Windows Media Player. If one bothers to go through all the options and set the settings right, real player can actually be usefull. Once cleaned up, everything runs good. Especially for web things. |

The gist of it, Real player costs money. Real Alternative is free with Windows, as all windows come with Windows Media Player.
I will take the free version any day. That and the Real Alternative works 100 times smoother than real player without that stupid interface. |
