XPS M140 Laptop Arrives

Yesterday afternoon at about 2:30 the XPS M140 Pentium M Processor Laptop that I was talking about the other day came in. It came in a real snazy looking XPS Black Box. The laptop weighs about 5 pounds and came with a bunch of preinstalled software that I had to remove.
Does anyone like preinstalled software on their computers? Or is it just me? So yesterday I took the time to reinstall Microsoft Windows XP and connect it to our new
Linksys 2.4GHz 802.11g Wireless G Broadband Router. After I got done with all that software and driver installation I made sure to get the wireless line encrypted. My SEP line name is www.aeonity.com just in the case you're in my area of San Antonio.
Priscilla and I went to Best Buy around 8 p.m. and purchased a laptop bag for like $40. To compliment the bag we also purchased a tiny mouse a Logitech Cordless Mini Optical Mouse that she could use for school. The mouse was about $29.99. After Best Buy we decided to head to the Medical Center Track and put in a couple of miles. We did a walk run for about an hour or so. It came out to 2 miles. Ok, I think I'm done here. I will try and get another entry in after a while.

Yep Im totally with you on that. The ISP list really tick me off. Can you imagine all those unneeded DLL files on your PC. It's terriable.

by the way, i'll keep that in mind...about your SEP, when im in the area, i'll make a bunch of skype calls, download a bunch of torrents, and possibly upload some large files. Just kidding, I leave mine open as well, but i doubt anyone here would be passing through Martindale and want to check their email.

Wireless networks are nice when secured. I suggest a WEP Encryption Key. Without it you may find very slow speeds or no speeds at all from people leeching off of ya.
Also, this is something that helps but just compliments the Wep KEY. Use the MAC Address Authentication. Meaning get the MAC address from your notebook and PC's and manually enter them into the router and require that anyone who uses it have that MAC address.
Anyhow hope it works good.

Congrats. And I agree, I hate all the bs software that comes preinstalled on new systems.. In fact, with my last PC, i decided just to download the version of XP that came on my pc and install it without all that bs. I dont need half the crap it comes with and most of the preinstalled stuff sucks anyway. I especially hate that it comes with all the ISP's ready to installl, no thanks. Windows puts some pretty crappy things like MovieMaker in XP as well. Ok, sorry for the rant. Again congrats and hope you are feeling better.
