| So on my personalized yahoo homepage I have a news ticker. It shows all sorts of important stuff about world conflict, discoveries and U.S. internal affairs. It also has stuff such as Madona fell off a horse and got hurt, and then the follow ups like "She's out of the hospital and doing fine!" That's good and all. But there's never news about things like congress opening national forests for oil drilling and foresting. Or the genocide taking place in countries throughout the world. Why are we focused on fricking Madona when nature is being destroyed and people are people are being tortured, raped and starving. Is it just America, or are all powerful societies left ignorant(or ignorant by choice). What can I do about it? What do I want to do about it? I mean, is much of it affecting me anyways? Do starving people on the other side of the world make my day worse? I do enjoy nature preserves, I'm an avid outdorsman and environmentalist. So that part does bother me, but not right now. Not today. So what do I care if Madona headlines on my homepage, not the problems in our own country or around the world. I'm perfectly content as a middle class citizen living in a distant subarb of chicago, close enough to have traffic and chicago style pizza, far enough away to avoid the crime and crowding. Why, I live a normal enough, easy enough life and as long as that isn't in jeapordy I'll just keep buying expensive clothes and wasting money on overpriced food items. Check again later for an exciting and different story on consumerism and world ethics!!! Sorry my posts are long. I hope they read quickly and are interesting though... |

| Hmm, not many care about the forests man. They are beautiful, but who cares about that anymore? no one really, thats what we are lacking. People who care about our surrondings and not just their pocket book. We need that... Hmmmm | ||
