HER ring finger indicated she was engaged, her grip indicated it was to fellow pop singer Brian McFadden, but her management indicated otherwise yesterday.

Australian pop princess Delta Goodrem strolled through Brisbane Airport yesterday, with her Irish boyfriend in her right hand and an unmistakably large diamond ring hanging from the ring finger of her left hand.
The separated former Westlife vocalist had earlier joined the singer on the Melbourne leg of her Visualise tour, sparking engagement rumours and denials.

But even though yesterday's diamond demonstration appeared to be a clear sign of upcoming nuptials, Goodrem's management said it was a terrible case of mistaken identity.

"She's just swapped her rings around on her fingers . . . she swapped fingers during the flight," a spokeswoman said last night. "There's nothing to tell."

Goodrem arrived in Queensland a day ahead of her Brisbane concert and was greeted by a group of keen fans, some of whom had waited at the airport all day and others who brought presents for their favourite singer.

She was also accompanied by a large entourage, indicating the largesse of her national tour.

"There's a lot of dancing . . . I don't think audiences know what to expect from me," she said of her first concert tour.

"The fans have been wonderful though, really positive."

Goodrem said the so-called "whispering campaign" that suggested concert ticket sales had been poor, was "rubbish".

"We just played to a sold-out audience in Melbourne the other night and it was a huge turn-out," she said.

"I suppose people have to say something but it's just a pity they have to be negative.

"It's ridiculous."

Last week, concert promoters said more than 8000 tickets had been sold to the Brisbane concert out of a possible 9500.

Concerts in other states have seen the pop star undergo numerous costume changes, and perform covers including Carol King's I Feel The Earth Move and Jet's Are you Gonna Be My Girl?.
