The 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a revamped look for the 2008 year model. In the grand tradition of new fitted engines in every vehicle's performance parts, the 2008 Jeep grand Cherokee delivers an efficient high-mannered engine performance which is on par with its style cues.

Details about the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and its Jeep parts will be shown off at the upcoming 2007 New York Auto Show. The new Grand Cherokee will be displayed in showrooms later this year.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee’s engine bay releases 291 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of maximum torque on a 4.7-liter V8. That’s a big leap from its previous powerplant that carries 235 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. But similar to its predecessor, the new 4.7-liter V8 flex-fuel capable and can run on E85 or gasoline.

Owners of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee can opt for five engine choices that would suit their driving styles. They are a 3.7-liter V6 that is standard on Grand Cherokee Laredo, a 3.0-liter common-rail diesel V6 that is optional on Grand Cherokee Limited and Overland, a 4.7-liter v8 that is standard on Grand Cherokee limited and standard on Overland and a 6.1-liter hemi V8 that is standard on Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Specifications on all engines are an upscale on the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s modified engines. The new V8 gets twin spark plugs per cylinder and a higher compression ratio all of which bolsters its horsepower by 24 percent. Pretty impressive.

The interior design includes modern and functional styles that depict safety, comfort and convenience. The cabin is tinged with soft-trim touches and metallic trimmings which feature a two-tone instrument panel, updated clusters and a new standard tilt/telescoping steering column. The Jeep introduced three new safety and security technologies. For adventurous SUV users, the high-end technological touches consist of Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and Trailer Sway Control.

On Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 models, the Hill Descent Control is definitely a standard. It offers downhill assistance at a controlled rate of speed. With Hill Start Assist, the control aids the driver make the transition from brake to full throttle on uphill grades. Trailer Sway Control is an additional option (for which owners of the Jeep can make rather haste choices) that enables trailer sway reduction.

Other features of the Jeep Grand Cherokee also include an optional Sirius Backseat TV, myGIG Multimedia Infotainment System, high-intensity discharge headlamps, a rearview camera, a backup warning system, an MP3 player input jack, memory seats and 18-inch chrome wheels.

Also, the outside styling of the Jeep Grand Cherokee has been updated. The grille has been stretched and integrates more circular headlights. The foglamps have been lowered and there is a new two-piece front fascia. The lower piece of the front fascia can be removed for off-road handling.

I like the fact it has a diesel option, although I don't think it is 50-state legal as it doesn't wear the Blu-tec badge. Put the 50-state legal Blutec Diesel then I'll be impressed and I won't even complain that it an ugly Jeep Fog Light and price would not be a matter to me in buying this Jeep...
