BMW has been perfecting their engine parts for many years and now all their hard work and effort are paying off. BMW recently received an award every car maker has been dreaming of - the International Engine of the Year 2007.
According to Business Week, the BMW 3LTwin Turbo engine was awarded as the International Engine of the Year 2007. The award was given at the ninth annual International Engine of the Year Awards.
Before the BMW got the award, it has undergone several tests done by the 62 independent motoring journalists over 30 countries and it did turn out so well. BMW was able to get the award for three consecutive years and the brand is also claiming seven more from the 12 awards by its 5L V10 as well as its 2.5L inline six.
The award for 1-litre to 1.4-litre class was again governed by the supercharged TSI and 1.4-litre turbocharged found on the Volkswagen on its second year. While the category 1.8-litre to 2-litre was given to the Audi A3 and the Golf GTi from the Audi’s 2-litre turbo.
Porsche also made a scene where it finally won the trophy for the International Engine of the Year Award. It was one among the most prestigious awards given at the event. The 3.6L turbo engine on the outgoing 911 Turbo was the winner and was voted to be the best 3-litre to 4-litre engine of today’s production cars.
