Life holds both sorrows and joys upon which we cannot decide. Even when we make decisions it's likely we don't act upon them. We're human, that's our factual limitation.
The topic was not about making decisions that may affect your everyday life, which is quite a simple thing to do. It was not about eating healthy food vs junk food to protect yourself from problems you can foresee. It was about being in love, which is the opposite of acting smart.
There is no possible selection about emotions, we were meant to feel them all and we just have to experience things. The only choice we can make about feelings is about the person we love, but even then it's a selection of the heart based upon some odd criterion I still fail to understand. Which means you don't actually choose.
For what I know, falling in love is basically about magnetism and about finding someone who has to give what you are looking for, no matter if for a short or a longer time. Even when this sensation of completion is illusive, you're more likely to accept it then to refuse it. In other words, the one you fall in love with has got something that belongs to your ancestral heritage, you recognize it immediately. You see something familiar in him/her because he/she brings you back something you have lost a long time ago. When you're together it feels like having it back again. When you fall in love you see yourself in this special someone and that's the reason why you cannot live without him/her. Literally, he/her makes you feel alive.
So, your last comment sounds smart, but it lacks warmth and it only works in theory. When you fall in love you see everything in a different light, no matter what your previous knowledge has taught you, no matter what else you perfectly know you *should* do.
When you fall in love you just fall in love. Just try. |
