Introduction
Last night my brother in law gave me his old Palm Pilot, which was passed down to him from my cousin. It is a year 2000 model Hewlett Packard Jornada 540. Works great and I hope it works out for my calander and remembering information, as I am very forgetful. We shall see how it works. Here are the specifications.

Ending Notes
It does have internet, but it has to be via modem. I am not sure how to setup the internet yet, hopefully I will figure it out. A major downside is this palm does not have WIFI. The Jornada 540 would be totally awesome if it had the WIFI. That knocks it down some points, but oh well. It was free, what can you expect. If you have any tips, or software I am definatley interested, leave a contact email when replying. I would love to hear what you have.

looks cool, i had been thinking about getting a Palm Tungsten with Wifi, but Im at a computer at home and work so I'd only use it away from work on weekends. But lloks cool. Hopeit works out for you.

Yea, I ordered a WIFI card for $15 from onlinemicro.com. Should be here in 3-6days. I hope it works great!

It was not a WIFI it was actually and outdated CADA(dunno if thats the name) but yea you cannot use wireless with this version of Jornada.

You can't without a modem. Other than that this is not a support site, look else where.

Is Jornada 540 not support "cf wifi" card for connecting wireless net? How can I do it?

No clue, I got rid of the jornada after I could not get WiFi and picked up a Smartphone with wifi for $150. Works better than that jornada ever did =P

i read somewhere that with a hack this DOES support wifi!!

There is a WiFi card for the Jornada 540 series. It is the Symbol LA4137 Spectrum24 CF 802.11b. It is supported by Motorola and available on ebay. It works with the older PocketPC (2000-2001) version OS's. Pete @ adaptableguy@hotmail.com

I've tried to run the symbol 3.9.2 with 540, it wont recognise the LA-4137. But HP 560 does.

Tried the older 3.7 software, still no luck.

CF slot works ok with memory card, and the LA-4137 works ok on 560. Seems the driver from symbol doesn't like the SH3 processor.

I have a jornada 548 that I got an LA4137 card for and I'm having trouble getting it to work. It shows that the802.11 wireless LAN adaptor is present in the network Connections window, but the driver doesn't want to work. My guess is that symbol upgraded to driver to work with CE 2003. Even the driver provided at the web site for CE 3.0 doesn't work. Any suggestions? My CF slot works with a memory card but I don't have a way to test my LA4137.
