gravitate ldac 2008 - Subscribe
LDAC is coming up, I ship out 16 July and will be at Fort Lewis, WA until 17 August after that, its all downhill, and in May 2009, I will be a 2LT in the United States Army.

Lately, I have been blogging about LDAC frequently.

Im excited about it, as much as one can be, I guess. Im just ready to get there, divorce myself from society for a while and just train to be a platoon leader. I am just hoping that my knowledge of STX lanes and land nav dont wear too thin. I am going to be going to see 2LT Grey and making sure I keep my lane knowledge fresh on my mind for when I get to LDAC. Its so important that I do well here. Im also training to be in the best shape possible. I just need to stay motivated to get the perfect score on the PT test; a 300. I think I can do it if I commit myself to training as hard as I would like to.

In other news, Obama won the Democratic nomination the other day. Hillary got beat and I am not sure what to think about it. I like Clinton and thats who I wanted to get the nod since Edwards dropped out. He was my first choice. But alas. I am going to vote for Obama solely because I am tired of Republican leadership, or lack thereof, in this nation. Bush has the lowest approval rating in American history. He has lead an unscrupulous 8 year term and I am ready for it to end, as are many Americans. I am like many Americans who will vote for Obama, not because we like him or have any faith in him, but because we are just so sick of the way things have been that anything remotely associated with change is a YES under the current circumstances. McCain is more of the same. And the United States doesnt need MORE of the same.

We just dont.

I think Obama is in a position to pick an incredible VP. Im not sure who it will be but I know the field will be great for his selection. I just hope the DNC doesnt pick who it will be. I think Obama likes Edwards and an Obama/Edwards ticket would be very good, IMO. I wouldnt be upset with an Obama/Clinton, but I think that, in a way, it is a conflict of interest. Bill and Barack dont like each other I am afraid. Oh well. SEN. Webb from VA would be an incredulous person to pick. He can go face to face with McCain and steal his war hero thunder. I dont know, it will be interesting.

lately, i have been interested in reading about the assassination of Julius Caesar and all those surrounding him at the time.

it is a rather complex series of events and the motives behind the murder make sense from the Senators point of view. i personally think that it was an effort to make Rome remain free and not under a dictator. caesar's murder was just after he declared himself the dictator of Rome... for life.

Brutus was the lead hitman in the murder. He and Caissus, along with Casca instigated the murder. Casca was first to stab Caesar and he blocked it, then as history has it, and i think the most haunting part of the entire scenario, "when caesar looked up after blunting casca's stab, he saw brutus. it was then when caesar put his toga over his face and accepted his fate, as the fellow conspirators closed in on him, stabbing him a total of 27 times. brutus is noted as dealing the final death blow, ending the dictator's life.

then there is marc antony. many regard he, as brutus, as one of the greatest military tacticians of all time. nonetheless, antony is an interesting figurehead. he was racially pure, as it pertains to being a Roman, and many thought that he was steadfast in maintaining his Roman race and loyalty to the same. however, he fell for the greatest seductress of all time. the god of seduction, as documented by Robert Greene, in his book, the art of seduction; Cleopatra. she was the greatest seductress of all time. she made kings of state fall for her and betray their very own states for a chance or time with her. she was a native of egypt. she was a lover of julius caesar and marc antony; whose loyalties and ties surpassed all in the Roman empire, arguably. however, he left Rome to be with Cleopatra and ended up killing himself because he thought she was dead. she got wind that Marc Antony was going to kill her because she thought he thought she was conspiring against him. well, turns out, that wasnt the case, and when she had the information dispatched to him, that she had died, he committed suicide. a few days later, she ended her life by taking a poisonous asp to her chest and dying because "her only love" was dead.

later, when both bodies were found, caesar's son, the heir to the Roman state had them both buried together, side by side.
