MARIO Ya. VIKA Sepertinya Wirausaha lebih banyak kita temui di negara maju, industrialis, seperti Amerika. Sedangkan di Indonesia… dibandingkan dengan jumlah penduduknya jumlah wirausahawan kita belum terlalu banyak. MARIO Ini masalah budaya. Masyarakat Indonesia masih melihat menjadi pegawai itu sebuah cita-cita. Orang tua menasihatkan kepada anaknya, nanti kalau kerja cari yang gajinya besar, ada pensiunnya, hidup tenang. Karena landasan semangat bekerja sebagai pegawai itu adalah soal keamanan. Sementara landasan berupaya sebagai wirausahawan adalah kesempatan. Kalau memang cari aman, ya memang harus menggantungkan pada gaji bulanan. Tapi kalau mau berkembang, mau tidak mau harus berwirausaha, karena tidak ada batasnya. Itu sebabnya landasan semangatnya adalah kesempatan. VIKA Kebanyakan ‘orang kita’… baru memikirkan berwirausaha ketika mereka sudah mapan. Apakah ini suatu keterlambatan atau sebaliknya, bagus ‘ikut orang’ dulu baru mulai usaha sendiri ? MARIO Sebetulnya tidak begitu penting apakah Anda ‘ikut orang’ dulu atau tidak. Karena yang menentukan seseorang berhasil berwira usaha itu adalah kualitas dirinya sendiri. Ada orang yang berhasil berwira usaha setelah berumur 65 tahun. Ada yang sejak fresh from the oven, lulus sekolah langsung berusaha, bisa juga. Tetapi ada sebuah aturan umum, kalau mau berwira usaha upayakan di bawah usia 40 tahun. Karena setelah usia 40 tahun, seseorang sudah tidak begitu agile, liat, lincah atau tahan banting lagi. Dan biasanya di atas umur 40 tahun itu anaknya sudah mulai masuk SD, sudah ada beberapa anak yang harus dibiayai. Sehingga pertimbangan resiko lebih besar. Orang tidak berani meresikokan keluarganya untuk masuk ke bidang wira usaha. Mereka akan lebih memilih, sudahlah jadi pegawai saja daripada meresikokan keluarga untuk sesuatu yang belum tentu pasti. VIKA Bicara resiko, resiko apa sebenarnya yang harus dihadapi para wira usahawan ? MARIO Resikonya adalah: Tidak laku. Sehingga tidak ada income sama sekali. Seperti sebuah koin. Ada dua sisi: satu berhasil satu tidak. Bandingkan dengan gajian tiap bulan yang selalu pasti. Kita bertengkar dengan atasan saja masih butuh waktu tiga bulan sebelum dikeluarkan… ha… ha… Wira usahawan ? Kalau tidak betul-betul pas membaca pasar, tidak betul-betul baik melayani pelanggan, atau kualitas produk maupun pelayanannya tidak baik, ya tidak dipakai orang… VIKA Dengan demikian, keahlian melihat peluang adalah yang utama sebelum kita memutuskan berwira usaha ? MARIO Ya… dan juga jangan dilupakan: doa. Karena banyak orang tidak pandai, tapi karena doanya baik sekali, ya berhasil. VIKA Bagaimana dengan intrapreneurship ? MARIO Intrapreneurship bukan sesuatu yang dimulai dari pegawai yang ingin berwira usaha, tetapi justru dari pemilik perusahaan. Karena anak buah yang pandai biasanya mempunyai kecenderungan untuk berhenti dan berbisnis sendiri. Itu sebabnya pemilik perusahaan mencegah mereka berhenti dengan cara memberi kesempatan menjadi wira usahawan di dalam perusahaannya. Jadi dengan memberikan target dan insentif yang sesuai dengan hasil. VIKA Ada kawan bergabung. Selamat pagi… DADANG Assalamu’alaikum. Saya sudah 21 tahun jadi pegawai. Sebetulnya saya ingin juga jadi seorang ‘pemilik’. Nah, bagaimana cara merubah mental pegawai menjadi pengusaha ? MARIO Kalau mental Anda terbentuk sebagai pegawai, yang harus dikenali sebelum kita merubah apapun adalah: Mental pegawai itu seperti apa, sih ? Mental pegawai itu biasanya sangat hitung-hitungan. Kalau tidak dibayar tidak bekerja. Kalau tidak dapat uang lembur tidak lembur. Kalau tidak diharuskan datang pagi tidak datang pagi. Itu pegawai. Sedangkan pemilik usaha atau pengusaha tidak mempunyai kontrol seperti itu lagi. Memang dia bangun pagi untuk sesuatu yang disukainya, dia bekerja karena memang harus bekerja, dia menyenangi pekerjaannya sehingga tidak harus disuruh oleh siapapun. Nah, apabila ada orang bekerja dengan semangat seperti itu, dia memiliki potensi yang lebih baik untuk berhasil sebagai usahawan. Tetapi apabila selama 21 tahun sebagai pegawai adalah sikap seperti yang tadi saya contohkan, maka betul-betul diperlukan kekuatan besar untuk merubah. Caranya, bukan hanya merubah Pak Dadang menjadi seorang yang semangat bekerja. Tetapi Pak Dadang harus mencari sesuatu yang menyenangkan untuk dikerjakan. Baru berwira usaha. VIKA Beberapa waktu lalu ada seorang kawan juga yang ingin memulai berusaha. Tapi kemudian istri dan keluarganya minta, “Sudahlah tidak perlu mencari sesuatu yang tidak jelas hasilnya” Mungkin itu termasuk faktor-faktor pengganggu seseorang mulai berusaha ? MARIO Betul. Bahkan ada seorang kawan yang sedang mulai berusaha, setiap hari harus mendengar keluhan istrinya, “Lebih enak dulu, bisa beli baju bagus, mobil dari kantor sekarang mobilmu jelek”. Kalau sudah begini bagaimana bisa berusaha ? VIKA Dukungan dari luar sangat penting. Tapi bagaimana cara meyakinkan ? MARIO Ya, kadang-kadang visi "gambaran keberhasilan kita di masa depan" hanya kita yang punya. Meski disampaikan, orang juga tidak percaya. Tapi ada orang "yang karena kesungguhannya mengejar gambar di kepalanya itu, doanya sungguh-sungguh, upayanya sungguh-sungguh dan kualitasnya baik" lama-lama dia berhasil. Jadi mungkin diukur dari berapa teguhnya Anda percaya pada visualisasi keberhasilan di masa depan itu. VIKA Ada kawan bergabung lagi… RUDY Ada pepatah, lebih enak jadi kepala kecil daripada jadi ekor besar. Semua orang pasti ingin berusaha, tidak ada yang mau jadi kuli. Hanya kalau saya lihat, bukan tidak berani tapi tidak mengetahui. Lain dengan negara maju. Di sana fasilitas ada, banking menunjang, sosialisasi pekerjaan juga sudah tersedia. Pertanyaan saya, berdasarkan pengalaman Anda, kalau saya punya back ground marketing dengan modal di bawah 50 juta. Usaha apa saat ini yang paling cocok buat saya ? MARIO Soal berusaha… bukan masalah Anda ingin menjadi kepala kecil atau ekor besar. Tetapi apakah Anda ingin berkontribusi kepada masyarakat. Itu sebabnya negara-negara besar memiliki banyak wirausahawan. Bukan karena negara besar memungkinkan orang menjadi wirausahawan. Saya tekankan, justru negara itu besar karena banyak wirausahawannya. Kalau negara banyak pegawainya, ya seperti kita sekarang ini. Seperti pemerintah kita sekarang ini Pak… bingung menaikkan gaji pegawai yang berjumlah sekian juta orang. Nah kalau Anda mau berusaha dengan back ground marketing dengan modal 50 juta, back ground marketing itu tidak butuh modal. Karena menjualkan untuk orang lain, apa pun. Hebatnya marketing, Anda bisa menjual barang yang Anda belum punya. Perhatikan bagaimana pengusaha properti menjual ruko atau rumah ? Brosur. Menjual liburan ke Australia ? Brosur. Kalau begitu modal 50 juta untuk cetak brosur ? Kelebihan, Pak. Jadi kalau Anda ingin berwira usaha, yang dilihat adalah peluang. Kemudian kesungguhan Anda untuk membuat peluang itu menjadi sesuatu yang real. Modal memang diperlukan, tapi itu nanti. Yang pertama bukan modal. Karena kalau mau kaya tidak harus kaya dulu, susah. Bangun uang dari potensi yang Anda lihat dan peluang yang Anda usahakan. VIKA Mudah-mudahan Pak Rudy langsung dapat ide dengan 50 jutanya. Halo selamat pagi… RAHMAD Selamat pagi, saya tertarik sekali dengan masalah wirausaha. Saya punya pengalaman. 2 tahun saya bekerja di perusahaan besar. Kemudian saya tertarik untuk mulai usaha, karena saya pikir usia saya sudah 27 tahun, kalau saya tidak mulai dari sekarang berat. Tapi ternyata susah mengubah mindset sebagai karyawan menjadi seorang pengusaha. Karena pada saat jadi karyawan, kita kerja keras atau kerja santai tetap digaji. Paling bedanya cuma soal overtime. Sedangkan menjadi seorang wirausahawan, kita dituntut berusaha sangat keras. Kalau tidak, nggak dapat uang. Saya baru lima bulan ini memulai usaha. Saya rasakan sebagai fase terberat. Karena income belum ada, hanya berbekal tabungan. Sampai saya pernah terpikir bekerja ikut orang lagi saja. Waktu saya bekerja di Batam, saya berkenalan dengan orang-orang Singapura, mereka itu luar biasa. Jiwa wirausahanya bagus. Rupanya sejak kuliah sudah terbentuk iklim seperti itu. Ada semacam kredit khusus bagi mereka yang sekolah sambil berwira usaha. Bagaimana supaya mental kita tetap kuat? MARIO Saya tidak perlu sampaikan banyak, karena yang Anda sampaikan tadi betul-betul berdasarkan pengalaman. Saya sendiri mulai berwirausaha umur 29 tahun. Bidang usaha saya konsultan. Umur 29 tahun menjadi konsultan terlalu muda bagi pasar. Sehingga saya ditolak di mana-mana. Meskipun gelar sarjana saya ada dua, satu di depan satu di belakang. Tetap mereka tidak percaya. Sehingga saya kembali bekerja sampai pada pangkat yang cukup tinggi. Baru pada usia 34 tahun saya mulai lagi, sampai sekarang. Jadi memang kadang-kadang tekanan berusaha itu mendorong kita kembali bekerja. Seyogyanya kita kembali bekerja itu bukan karena kalah, tapi karena waktu. YOYONG EKO Pagi, Pak Mario. Selama ini saya bekerja sama dengan orang asing sebagai QC Manager, tapi tampaknya ia akan beralih ke perusahaan lain. Saya ditantang begini, ”Kalau kamu ada kerja lebih bagus cari aja”. Pada awal pembicaraan, dia minta saya tetap berkomitmen dengan dia. Pokoknya jangan lihat kanan kiri. Sudah saya jalani selama 4 tahun ini. Tapi akhir-akhir ini kok dia ngomong begitu. Teman-teman mengusulkan agar saya ‘usaha sendiri’. Saya kebetulan pegang QC untuk beberapa pabrik di bidang usaha furniture. Sekarang saya bingung, apa yang mau saya jalani. Terus terang, saya bukan tipe risk taker, tapi safety player. Saya pikir, kalau kita mulai usaha, kalau kita nggak laku, ya langsung amblas. Bagaimana advis Pak Mario untuk saya ? Karena sampai sekarang ini partner kerja saya itu tidak bisa menjelaskan di mana kesalahan saya. MARIO Soal penilaian Anda sendiri bahwa Anda cenderung menjadi seorang safety player bukan risk taker, itu sudah menjadi halangan mental. Resiko berwirausaha bukan pada wira usahanya. Yang membuat resiko itu ada, tampak besar atau bahkan nyata adalah orangnya sendiri. Jadi ada tipe orang yang resikonya besar kalau berwiraswasta karena dia tidak sesuai untuk tuntutan menjadi seorang wirausahawan. Pak Yoyong harus melihat, apakah Anda bersedia menerima beban keharusan untuk menghasilkan sebagai seorang wirausahawan ? Kepada rekan-rekan yang saat ini sedang mendengarkan program ini, keberhasilan wirausahawan belum tentu dari pandainya orang, belum tentu dari besarnya modal, mudahnya meraih pasar, atau baiknya potensi produk maupun pelayanannya. Tetapi kalau kita bersungguh-sungguh. Pegang pepatah, yang tidak membunuh kita itu berarti membuat kita kuat. Jadi kalau kita tidak tersiksa sampai mati justru kita akan lebih kuat karenanya. Kalau Anda percaya bahwa Anda tidak akan mati karena berwirausaha, siksaan seperti apa pun akan membuat Anda lebih kuat. Jangan masuki wirausaha atau menjadi pegawai dengan perasaan takut. Tapi apakah Anda bisa berhasil di keduanya. Sebagai pegawai yang baik tidak apa-apa, sebagai pengusaha yang berhasil juga tidak apa-apa. Pertimbangannya begitu Pak Yoyong. Pastikan Anda kirimkan e-mail ke saya. Karena potensi Anda untuk menjadi Konsultan QC besar sekali. Dan itu bisa dicoba melalui beberapa cara. ADI Selamat pagi. Saya sudah berusaha untuk wiraswasta. Cuman saya tidak sendiri, kami berdua. Pada awalnya partner saya friendly, pandai mengambil hati. Sehingga saya pikir, dia pas sebagai tenaga marketing. Waktu itu saya masih bekerja di perusahaan asing. Saya mengontrol dari kantor. Lumayan bagus. Lalu saya putuskan untuk keluar dari pekerjaan. Tapi ternyata kok malah ndak karu-karuan jadinya. Sebelumnya, soal keuangan pun dipegang partner saya. Kalau kemudian saya ambil alih nggak etis rasanya. Akhirnya saya lakukan audit. Ternyata banyak sekali pos-pos yang digunakan untuk pribadi. Saldo minus. Saat kami harus melakukan pembayaran, dananya kurang. Dia hanya bisa bertanya ‘bagaimana ini ?’ Nah, apakah saya harus melanjutkan atau bagaimana ? Karena akhirnya, saya jadi tidak percaya diri. MARIO Pak Adi, kalau Anda sudah berwira usaha dan ada kecurigaan pada teman dan itu bisa dibuktikan bahwa ada ketidak jujuran maka lebih baik tidak diteruskan. Karena meskipun teman Anda jujur, tapi kalau Anda sudah mulai bekerja dengan mencurigainya… tidak akan bisa baik. Pastikan kalau berpartner soal uang tidak menjadi masalah. Karena banyak orang baik sebelum berurusan dengan uang. Tetapi setelah berurusan dengan uang banyak terjadi, saudara pun kalau bisa disingkirkan supaya warisan bisa 100 persen dimiliki. Ada seorang kakak yang mewarisi perusahaan orang tuanya, adik-adiknya dijadikan pegawai, dia sendiri jadi pemilik. VIKA Tadi Anda sebutkan, karena banyak wirausahawan sebuah negara jadi maju. Apa manfaat lain dari wirausaha terutama manfaat secara pribadi ? MARIO Untuk pribadi… yang membuat seseorang sulit menjadi pegawai yang baik, adalah tidak betul-betul menyenangi apa yang dilakukannya. Ada yang bilang, saya suka kok sebagai marketing manager. Marketing managernya dia suka. Tapi sebagai marketing manager pabrik Bekicot dia tidak suka. Sedangkan wira usahawan, dia bisa melakukan sesuatu yang betul-betul dia sukai. Salah satu tanda bahwa seseorang berhasil dalam sebuah usaha adalah jika Anda mau bangun pagi karena melakukan usaha itu. Banyak pegawai yang tidak datang pagi kalau tidak diharuskan, tapi banyak orang yang menghindari datang pagi karena sebenarnya betul-betul tidak suka dengan apa yang dikerjakan. Salah satu tanda seorang wirausahawan adalah dia sangat komit. Sangat bersungguh-sungguh karena dia memang sangat suka dengan apa yang dilakukannya. Nah, untuk orang-orang yang menyukai pekerjaannya, langit memudahkan rejeki. Kadang kita takut mulai wira usaha karena kita tidak percaya pada konsep rejeki. VIKA Kita harus pandai melihat peluang, baik dalam menciptakan produk atau pelayanan. Berarti ada kemungkinan kita akan tampil sebagai pionir. MARIO Bisa. Tapi itu sulit sekali. Yang paling gampang untuk mulai berwira usaha adalah mencari sesuatu yang menyelesaikan masalah orang banyak. Kalau Anda bisa menemukan sesuatu yang bisa menyelesaikan masalah orang banyak, Anda mempunyai potensi berusaha yang baik. Meskipun idenya baru super, tapi kalau tidak menyelesaikan masalah orang banyak ya akan menjadi usaha yang cepat mati. Karena Anda hanya melayani 40 orang. Tapi kalau Anda bisa melayani 400 ribu orang itusebuah bisnis. VIKA Yang paling susah katanya pada awal kita memulai usaha, sebenarnya apa hambatan utama dalam berwira usaha ? MARIO Berwira usaha itu memang pada awalnya susah. Tapi sebenarnya berwirausaha selalu susah. Hanya bedanya, sudah tidak merasa susah lagi karena sudah berlangsung lama. Siapa yang paling susah saat krismon begini ? Pengusaha. Tapi mereka berdiri tegak dengan hal-hal yang tidak membunuhnya. Hambatan yang umum. Biasanya wirausahawan meng-under estimate biaya. Mereka menganggap biaya suatu usaha itu kecil ternyata besar. Kedua, karena mereka ternyata dituntut betul-betul komit, jadi nempel terus dengan satu bidang usahanya. Ke-tiga banyak sekali yang didambanya. Sehingga biaya per produk atau biaya per pelayanan sangat tinggi. Jadi beberapa waktu ke depan penjualan berapa pun masih belum bisa untuk menutupi kerugian. Kadang-kadang pengusaha pemula menganggap itu semua sebagai sebuah penderitaan. Kalau dia betul-betul menyukai apa yang dilakukannya, penderitaan itu tidak akan terasa. WIJAYA Saya dulu korban PHK. Saya dulu dipercaya memasarkan produk ke luar kota. Saya dipecat mendadak. Saya bingung karena saya sudah berkeluarga. Setelah berunding dengan istri, saya memutuskan untuk berusaha sendiri. Rumah saya jual untuk modal. Sampai hari ini syukur masih bisa jalan. Suatu hari saya disodori tawaran oleh satu bank untuk pengajuan kredit tambah modal. Tapi saya ragu-ragu. Khawatir, dalam situasi seperti sekarang ini jangan-jangan bunganya mendadak naik. Bagaimana pertimbangan Anda ? MARIO Selamat, keberanian dan kejelasan visi Anda membuat Anda percaya bahkan sampai menjual rumah. Saya senang sekali mendengar. Kadang-kadang kita memang butuh modal atau kredit. Ada kredit profesi, ada kredit usaha kecil. Pak Wijaya, dalam mengambil kredit, yang menjadi concern bukan bunga bank, tapi apakah dengan kredit itu penjualan Anda akan berlipat ganda atau meningkat baik ? Itu saja. Kalau penjualannya meningkat, berarti melampaui suku bunga yang harus Anda bayar. Kalau rasa takutnya karena suku bunganya maka berusahanya menjadi nomor dua. Tapi kalau concern pertama kali pada volume penjualan, karena Anda punya modal lebih besar maka bunga itu hanya biaya dalam melakukan usaha. VIKA Bagaimana rahasia agar semangat wira usaha kita awet ? MARIO Sebagai seorang pemilik perusahaan, harus tetap semangat pada misinya. Tapi kadang-kadang ada yang semangat pada soal ‘cari uang’nya. Kalau cuma mencari uang, kita akan melihat dia berubah setelah dia punya uang sehingga tidak lagi memperhatikan bisnisnya. Tetapi ada orang yang lebih mementingkan soal ‘berusaha’nya. Saya pernah makan siang dengan seorang pengusaha besar di Surabaya yang memakai jam tangan lebih murah dari jam tangan saya. Saya sungkan sekali. Tapi pada saat yang sama saya menyimpan hormat yang dalam. Berarti orang ini betul-betul tidak mencari uang atau kemewahan, melainkan mencari kesenangan dalam bekerja. Nah, orang-orang yang masih senang bekerja, senang mengerjakan hal-hal yang membuatnya kaya, tidak berubah setelah dia kaya, dia yang punya potensi untuk mempunyai organisasi yang baik. Sebaliknya, orang yang hanya mencari uang kemudian menikmati kemewahannya, Anda lihat karyawannya akan digunakan sebagai alat untuk mencari uang. |
