Ishlee hoo hoo!!!

A persons attempt to fit into a certain group of people.........can we say conformity? i think so. I really dont understand why people that try to be different from the "norm", but very similar to their own certain type of people say they arent conforming. I dont kno if anyone has realized this but we all conform to a certain degree, in some form or fashion. People like that are apparently ignorant. They dress different from the "norm". They act different than the "norm". But they are influenced by those that do it with them. Isnt that conformity in itself? Seems to me that they are conforming more to their cliche of people far more than a lot of people try to conform period.. im not sayin conformity is bad i just admire those that are individuals...but not because they want to b different. Just because thats how they are.
Ill go another step with that. THis is just something to think bout for those that read it. Ok society says we will make more money if we attend college and listen to a person that wants to be there less than the student. THen we as students assume they are smarter because of a piece of paper called a "doctorate" in a certain field of study. Dont tell me your smarter than me because of a piece of paper. Prove it. All professors do is spout off facts about a certain subject but rarely do they teach real education. The ability to think!!! Its great to make more money. Financial security is important, but society is pressing all young adults to attend college. But then there isnt enough of those people that like to work hard and do physical labor. Those people that do physical labor are important too. They may not be as "smart" ,through society's point of view, as the lucky ones who finish college but they are still needed. And society is telling everyone to go to college. Ok well something we should realize.....if everyone goes to college then who in hell's kitchen is going to do the hard work that 80% of the obese nation wont do?

Conformity isn't necessarily bad. I think that, especially in high school, that it is important to many kids to feel a part of something. We commonly assume that when they are trying to be different that they mean different than everyone, that is rarely possible. I think that the combonation of feeling like they belong and being different than other "scenes" or "subcultures" but still belonging to one.

I personally dress according to the "indie" scene and lately a bit like the "skater" scene. I conform to a larger group, but within my own friends and circles i am uniquley different. I belong to one thing, but am different than the rest. Nothing I intended, but the way the cards fell.

I have been fortunate to have great teachers and proffesors. I do understand the plight of education though. The whole backbone of economy is growth. The higher demand for education, the higher demand for teachers. It is a force that drives itself. With more educated people it becomes neccesary for the rest of the nation to work to produce basic and luxury services and product at an even greater scale. In ways, the push for college education may be more demographical. In the area I live it can be MUCH more profitable to have a family in the Union(plumbers, electricians, flooring, etc) so that you can apprentice and join the Union.

I know many Union laborers that are much better off than even doctorates.

It has hard to draw absolutes within our society due to the large array of demographics and subcultures.

I just thought since you described so much that I would leave a comment worth reading. My philosophy teacher and Critical thinking teacher have been doing their jobs happy.gif
