Song of the day | Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO

Well I’m back from a whirlwind of craziness happy.gif
We left for our week long vacation in the mountains on Saturday the 4th of May. It rained a lot while we were there but we had some sunny days and it still turned out to be a wonderful holiday. I tried a few pregnancy tests that E had given me but they all turned out negative sad.gif I tried not to get discouraged. On Friday the 10th we drove into town to the nearest Labcorp to have blood work done. The staff were extremely rude and refused to tell me if I was pregnant (I found out later that it was due to HIPA laws) which I completely understand but they could have been much nicer. Anyway on the way back to our cabin we stopped to get another pregnancy test, by this time I was so anxious to know. We got back to the cabin and I peed in a cup for Caleb to test (it’s our tradition!) I was in the kitchen and I heard him exclaim in the next room “Guess whose Preggo!” I couldn’t stop smiling, laughing and crying! He said that both lines came up right away! I called E to let her know and she was happy too! My nurse called a little later to confirm that we were pregnant and that 10dp5dt (10 days past a 5 day transfer) the beta numbers came in at 206! A strong number happy.gif

Monday the 13th of May I went to our local hospital to draw blood for the 2nd set of numbers. I waited sooooooo long (they said it was a very busy day, typical!) my nurse called me later on and told me that the numbers had more than doubled! 13dp5dt 1050!

I go for my 3rd beta test next Monday. The past 2 days I’ve been setting up ultrasound appointments with my Dr. I go for my hour long nurse visit and 6W Ultrasound on 5/23/13 and then for the 8W Ultrasound (with E&M) the first week of June! It’s so exciting. I’m hoping all is well and this little baby grows and grows!

Roughly based on the transfer date I am 5 weeks along today and I made a cute tickler, even though I know it’s early, I couldn’t resist. Due date is around January 15th 2014!

I do still want to upload pictures and eventually create a more user friendly blog but right now I’m tracking everything here!

Song of the day | The Big Love - Roxette

So I had to do a quick update on our transfer. I am going to eventually be switching to another blog. Although this blog is VERY easy to use for me, it’s not as user friendly for readers. So we’ll see.

Onto our excitement this week. Monday we left work early and drove to ATL. We checked into our hotel and then met M&E at Uncle Maddio’s. It has the best pizza. It was amazing. Both Caleb and I had the blue cheese and steak pizza drizzled with Balsamic Vinaigrette! It was so much fun hanging out with E&M without (much) of a time restriction. The kids had fun meeting them. They were shy at first but soon warmed up to them.

The next morning we drove to our clinic, where Caleb dropped me off. The nurse told me to have a full bladder (and boy was it full!) E&M met me there and we waited for an hour (the clinic was very behind on their transfers). The nurse came and got us and took us to the “transfer room”. The Dr. wore a lamp on her head and all I could think of was her as a miner digging for diamonds! We saw the fertilized egg/embryo. It was so amazing. We watched them implant it into my uterus. I had to wait 5min before getting up and that was it! E&M took us out for lunch, it was wonderful. E gave me a little transfer gift! A goodie bag filled with pregnancy tests, sunscreen and sanitizer (for our vacation), a recipe book, a very sweet card and a beautiful bracelet. We then drove home, stopping at Cracker Barrel for dinner. Today I am 4DP5DT (4 days past a 5 day transfer). I could probably start testing tomorrow or the next day but not sure if I will or not. Our official testing day is next Friday at a local lab for blood work. There they will tell us if we are pregnant or not. Hoping hoping that we are. I’ve had weird tummy feelings but I don’t know if it’s just me being so aware and thinking nothing is something! We’ll see. E&M had the embryo’s tested to see the gender and as we implanted #1 it was labeled a SECRET! Apparently the test is 90% accurate so we’ll see what happens. We are off on our mountain cabin vacation tomorrow. I need to post more pictures of the transfer and from my previous post, hope to get to it soon.
I have a terrible headache so I’m so glad Caleb suggested getting dinner tonight, I don’t feel like cooking!

Till next time!

Eating Organic Apr 26th, 2013 8:11:58 am - Subscribe

Song of the day | If you want blood (you got it!) - ACDC

Caleb and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary this past weekend. Time sure does fly. I had a beautiful photo book made up with pictures of us growing up, going steady, travelling, getting married, our kids ect. It turned out great! And BTW I use Wallyword for all my photo needs. It’s inexpensive and looks just as good as the more expensive photo websites. If you haven’t already gathered I love taking pictures and then editing them and making collages. Here are a few pictures I snapped with my blackberry of foliage near where I work, really showing Spring off! (I will be adding them later today or tomorrow!)

I always though that people who ate organic were food snobs. How wrong I was and I take back that prejudice thought 110%! Since Sarah (our healthy food guru) has come and spoken to us about healthy eating, organic food and so forth we have decided to start eating organic and preservative/additive free. This is quite challenging because good food (free of additives) and organic is very limited and expensive. (for an example a regular gallon of milk is $4 and Organic milk is $6.) But we’ll be going out less so hopefully it’ll balance out. It’ll also be beneficial when I make a menu plan and shopping list for the week. We didn’t do that and I think it’ll help. We’ve also stopped drinking soda. We’re drinking organic juice, milk and lots more water. Our new eating plan means we have an excuse to cook and bake more! FUN! I made an amazing organic beef spaghetti sauce with pasta last night and Caleb baked bread over the weekend. I’ve found some great websites too. This one in particular I can’t wait to explore: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.comIt has a recipe for healthy pop tarts (our youngest will be delighted) And I don’t know if it’s just my mind playing tricks on me but I swear the food we buy now just tastes better.

I went for my ultrasound yesterday with my Dr. It was weird going for this sonogram without actually being pregnant. She said my lining is beautiful (I took that as a compliment) and that the Lupron is doing it’s job (essentially “shutting” my ovaries down so I don’t release an egg.) I sent my nurse the screen shot (I’ll post this later on too!.) and her exact words were “Perfect!” so we are good to go for our transfer on Tuesday next week! I’m a mixture of nerves and excitement. I spoke to E today, I can’t wait to see them on Monday (hopefully we’ll all be able to meet for dinner if we leave work early enough and if traffic isn’t too bad.) They’ll finally get to meet our kids! I can’t wait!

I’ll be starting the BIG injections this week (in my butt!) Caleb keeps laughing with an evil grin every time I mention them, wish me luck!

Song of the day | Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler

What a crazy week so far. Spring has definitly arrived, we’ve had beautiful weather in the 70’s and 80’s for the past few days. No more winter clothes... girly spring clothes all around! It makes me so happy.
My department rents a condo on the water every year this time for arious sports events that go on around the island. Normally I man the office and the rest of my collegues will hang out at the condo and walk around the events. Earlier this week I got to man the condo and setup a favor table. Here I am “hard at work” (in my defense I took my pc so I could still do work.)

The view was breathtaking. I wish I could have sunbathed out on the lawn by the water but that would have taken things a bit far!

No changes with my medication yet. Still just taking the 5 units of Lupron, patches and baby aspirin. We met a lovely lady named Sarah over the weekend who came and spoke to us about healthy eating. She opened our eyes to a lot of things and I hope we get to work with her in the future. She’ll be stopping by our house one evening to do a kitchen intervention too. She’s also going to take us to the local farmers market sometime, which should be loads of fun.

I still poke around craigslist everyday day or so looking for a glass cabinet that I can repaint for my collection of pretty little nick knacks. I really need to go thrift store shopping rather. This past weekend we were vegging and I watched “Overboard” for the first time. What a great movie. I love the old school humor from the 80’s and Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell were so great. I’ll be re-watching that again one day!

So the countdown is on for our Cabin Holiday. 15 days to go! I seriously cannot wait, and I know Caleb wants the break too. I won’t be drinking but I don’t care! I just can’t wait to hang with our friends and relax with a cup of tea on the porch.
Hoping for a visit to the beach this weekend, but it’s supposed to rain so we’ll see.

Song of the day | Little Red Corvette - Prince

When life brings you ups and downs, (and more importantly the downs) I always wish I could go back 10 years and tell my 20 year old self some things about the world. I could say love your body more but I’m actually healthy and thinner than I was back then so that wouldn’t work ha ha. Seriously though, if I could these are the things I would say:

1.) Save, save, save (even now that’s something that is so important.)
2.) Don’t use credit cards if you can help it.
3.) Don’t buy a house in 2007 (we bought just before the financial recession, huge mistake.)
4.) TRAVEL more! We are fortunate to have travelled throughout the UK, Europe and South Africa. But it’s much harder when you have kids.

We learn from our mistakes (boy do I know this) and you’ve just gotta take one day at a time. You’ve also gotta try and appreciate all you have, even little things.

So Thursday was the first day that I started taking less Lupron (now it’s 5 units.) I also began taking baby aspirin and the Vivelle patches at night. The picture of the patch is of my right hip. No major side effects yet (knock on wood) except bruises where the needle goes in and some weight gain.

I absolutely love pinterest. There are so many cool ideas there, beautiful houses, gardens, rooms, landscapes ect. I found so many great ideas for redoing our eldest’s bedroom. I love the city/hero themes they have. Caleb is not that impressed but I’ll try and convince him (yeah right!). I do want to look and try and find some fun kids projects that we can all do. One that I’ve wanted to do for ages is the rainbow Crayola canvas. Where you glue a box of Crayola colors in color order at the top of a canvas and melt them with a hairdryer so the colors rundown and make a beautiful collage of colors. That’s not really something the kids can do, but more for me to do for their rooms.

We're having a food/health consultant/chef stopping by today to talk about food and things to make. Hopefully it will be a positive experience happy.gif
