just came back from Best Denki... with a hire-purchase order waiting to be approved for an NEC laptop.

Yeah, it looks nice and its reasonably priced... but being the impoverished person that I constantly am, it's still killing my wallet. and while i don't regret deciding to fork out $220 per month for a year for a laptop... it still doesn't make me feel any less broke.

On the other hand, if the credit approval doesn't go through, I won't feel so broke since there won't be any laptop to pay for in the end.

I often wondered why i go through these swings. I'm pretty happy with no or just enough money most of the time but lately, it seems that everything needs to be bought and paid for that I'm starting to feel like some cow being milked to death.

Kindly ignore the sullen mood for the next few days.

#11 - Bang for buck laptop.

Came to realisation that I desperately need a laptop or at least a working computer for my own. Told mom about it today when I made my daily phone call to let her know that her eldest daughter wasn't languishing on campus. She offered to ask Dad for help so I could get a laptop at a corporate discounted price. Not that I don't appreciate the offer... family and all things mercernary tend to get messy and all tangled up, you know?

So decided to go scout Best Denki @ IMM or Jurong Point after school to see if there have any bang-for-buck laptops for impoverished students like me. I'm starting to feel two things:

1. the hems at the edge of a blanket called Desperation.

2. seriously dead broke... or approaching it at break neck speed.

******

Still feeling like a total cow on two legs at the rate I seem to be craving for food.

******

I miss the clean bathrooms of home.

******

Realised that life could have turned out much worse, after I read 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole' by Sue Townsend, for the nth time.

I could have been a hypochondriac teenager with delusions of literate grandeur.

Instead, I am a clueless trainee teacher on the verge of a social and financial downward spiral.

Difference between option 1 and 2?

At least, i have a paycheck.

finally spent my first night in my dorm room. Kept waking up in the middle of the night - probably because I wasn't used to the room yet. My roommate's a late sleeper so I have to get used to sleeping in a semi-lighted room... I'm the sort that sleeps in complete darkness and I'm a pretty light sleeper so any sort of noise or mild light is enough to jolt me out of slumber.

I'm also pretty 'noisy' so I'll have to watch my movements carefully so as not to disturb my poor roommate...

I kinda miss my room. Mom called me in the morning. She woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep after that. So made my way down to the library to print my notes and to feel like I'm actually doing something academic.

*******

Think I'm putting on weight. Argh. Need to lose some kilos so I won't feel like I'm being a total bastard to my heart.

*******

Can't wait to see Jen and Fifi come next week... haven't seen them in about a month or so.

Went to IKEA today to scout some stuff for the dorm room. After that, went to DAISO to buy super cheap stationery and toiletries so that I wouldn't have to lug anything to and fro.

Found this charcoal based cleansing mask that I found rather intriguing. Marissa, my sis, works at DAISO on weekends so she told me that the charcoal facial cleansing products actually work. (She made me try the facial wash already and she was right.) Just to be on the safe side, I tried to mask on my brother first... hehehe.... even made him take a 'during' and 'after' pic. Mean, I know but we both had a hoot and I saved copies of the shots so that I had something to show his future girlfriends... *evil laugh*

Also stole a set of Mom's single bedspread and a mattress protector from one of the old mattresses. Had to do it on the sly, in case Mom decided that it wasn't really right for me to borrow it and all. I promise I'll give it back once my pay comes in and I can buy some decent looking bed linens from IKEA.

Can't wait to start sprucing up the place. Totally need to a place near campus to crash by the look of my timetable.

********

Mom and Dad are betting on whether or not I'll be coming back for the weekends. Dad says I would. Mom says she'll believe it when she sees it happening consistently. For the record, I told them I'll sleep over at the family home for weekends.

Still, I do want my own place. I hope to see that dream come true one day.

#08- Time to build some redundancy into the system.

Went to school todayby public transport despite the fact that Isnis offered me a ride to campus so early in the morning. I didn't want to trouble him... esp with his programme being so intensive and everything. Plus, my day started about an hour earlier than his. Would rather he had that extra hour resting and getting ready instead of just sending me to work/school.

Registered for my modules online. Didn't see the point of registering when they had already picked out the modules I was supposed to be taking... and students didn't have to 'bid' or compete for their modules anyway. So if we already assured of a place in the modules chosen, and the school already knows who's taking what.... what really is the point of this whole registration excercise?

So, Aishah, Izan, Yusuf and myself blew the whole personal enrichment talk thing and made our way to the library (together with the hordes of other people.) to register... because of the partially redundant nature of all things beauracratic... we ended up going home to register and I ended up writing the paragraph before this one.

On another note:
Caught Isnis at play... (hehe... just had to add the red halo just so everyone knows who it was I was talking about...) Sorry, love.

It was rather surprising to see him so enthusiastic... I had a field day watching him run around throwing water bombs at people and getting some himself. Then it occurred to me that I was going to do the same thing myself on Thursday.

Another redundant program. Ack.
