jeffstunes A song of dedication - Subscribe

This is another of my originals. As it is a love song, I uploaded it to youtube just before Valentines day. I noticed a lot of love orientated videos being put up in the lead up to Valentines day, so I thought I'd chip in.

It's name is "When I grow". It's a song of dedication.

Here it is happy.gif

A few months ago, I altered my channel description. Inviting people to cover my songs, or use my music in their videos. This seemed like a good idea, because if people did do those things, it would help spread my music around. I mention it in this post, because someone did a cover version of this song. If you go to my channel on Youtube, you will see a playlist which is called "Covers and uses of my songs". You will find that cover version in that playlist, and also 4 other videos, where someone has used my music.

Last, but not least. The Youtube bits and bobs.

I now have 516 Subscribers. So well clear of the 500 now.

The channel viewings have passed the 11k mark and now stand at 11,009.

The total video views are 146,277. A little over a hundred thousand more to make it to a quarter of a million happy.gif That will take a few months I think happy.gif Still, you never know. I have never had any of my videos featured yet, and if that happens, I can expect the figures to rocket.

From an Original to a cover. A lesser known song by a fantastic band.

Back to another cover. This tune reached 19 in the UK charts in 2001. In my opinion, it should have got higher, because I think it is an awesome song. In fact, I have been quite surprised that so few people know the song.

It's by a band called "Toploader". Everyone seems to know their biggest hit, which was "Dancing in the moonlight". The song I did of theirs is called "Only for a while", and It's my favourite out of all of their songs.

So here it is:

As I've built my contact list on Youtube, the views when I first put a video up get stronger and stronger. That's because I can let those people know when I've put a new video on. Once I've uploaded my video, I share it with all my contacts. It goes both ways though. They can share their videos with me too. There's been some issues though, and I've had to start removing some names. The ones that send you up to 10 messages for one video. Perhaps they think I didn't see it the first time, and that I might if they send it ten times!! There are also those that keep on sending me the same videos every day for weeks, and those who send me everyone else's videos. As a result I get sent about 80 videos a day now. There's no way I can get through all those. That's why I've decided to cross some of them off.

Back to the latest figures.

520 Subs.

11,036 Channel viewings.

147,599 total viewings.

Next I go deep. Very deep happy.gif

Almost up to a nice round 60 videos. This is number fifty nine. This is one of those songs that is quite memorable. Probably because it is quite unique in it's sound. It is "Mmm mmm mmm mmm" by the "Crash test dummies". If you are familiar with this song, then you will know that the lead vocal is quite low. So it was a chance for me to reach to the depths of my voice and give it a good go.

This is what it ended up like:

At the beginning of the video, I mention someone called "Tay Zonday". Any of you that have spent some time on Youtube will probably have heard of him. He rocketed to fame because of an original song of his on Youtube, called "Chocolate rain". The song is nothing special, but his voice is something you cannot forget. It is a surprise to see that sort of voice come out of his frame. He appears very much like a student, but when he starts to sing. This low thunderous sound comes out. Very low happy.gif

Here we go with the current state of play on Youtube.

I now have 522 Subscribers. A slight increase on last time.

The channel viewings are slightly up at 11,048.

Finally, the total video viewings are 148,768.

I'm almost on top of the videos now. A week or two and I'll be in line. Then I can post to my blogs as I release the videos. The next of my videos was a challenge set by a friend last year. I've had such a backlog of requests, that I only got around to doing it recently. It's to do with "The Beatles"

jeffstunes My version of All Ive got to do Aug 10th, 2009 11:05:12 am - Subscribe

Now for something a little different. A good friend of mine asked me if I could do an alternative version of a Beatles song several months ago. The only provision was that I could not select any of their songs that had been hit singles. I had to choose a lesser known song from one of their albums. So I went through all their albums and made a short list of 10 songs. Then I whittled it down to just one.

Penning my own material is normally quite easy, but this was more challenging than I initially thought. With my own songs I can hear the full arrangement in my head, and all I have to do is to bring that into reality. In the case of this song though, it already had music to it, and I had to try and clear that original music out of my mind, so that I could compose a new sound to it. It wasn't a quick process, but I eventually came up with something in the end.

Check out my new version:

My next video is another of my Original songs. One I wrote last year.

Now to round up with my Youtube figures.

There are now 526 Subscribers. Up a couple.

Channel views are 11,071.

The sum total of my video viewings are 150,542.

jeffstunes Video 61. Take me home. Aug 11th, 2009 1:12:31 pm - Subscribe

The week this one was put up on Youtube was quite a poignant one. It was a few weeks after the death of my Grandmother, The funeral was on the tuesday before the upload. She was a wonderful woman, who I loved. She had a long life. She reached the ripe old age of 93.

In the early part of last year, I was taking part in music collaborations. One of these was with a Swedish man called Ulf. He is a very talented guy, and has retired from performing. He is now concentrating on composing, and is providing music for the film and television industry. I would say that the main area of his music is electronic. There was a song I completed with him, which was his music, and my words. This isn't that song though. I mentioned his name in relation to this song, because he wanted to create a version of it. We never got around to doing it, so this one is all me. It's an original song by me, called "Take me home".

It's about bad mistakes in relationships, that cause them to split. In the song, the person is appealing to their partner.

Have a listen, and see what you think.

Back to the stats.

I've got 534 Subscribers now. They are still climbing consistently.

The amount of views on my channel are now 11,121. All going in the right direction.

Another few thousand added to my total video views, so they now stand at 154,447.

My next post is about a collaboration with a good friend and extremely talented musician in Canada.
