The Marriage of Lyndsey and Jim Worthen
The Marriage of Lyndsey and Jim Worthen
After two weeks of no updates this is going to be one major update and one very long entry. I am going to be as thorough as I need to be and try to avoid unnecessary information. I am breaking this entry up into two entries; one about the wedding and the other about the honeymoon. The honeymoon entry can be viewed here.
On May 28th, 2006 I married my true love who I have been with for nearly 4 years, formerly known as Lyndsey Renee Cunningham. We were married in Golden, CO at the Mount Vernon Event Center (LINK HERE). I arrived at Mount Vernon around 8:30 AM after Lyndsey and her family had their pictures taken pictures and Lyndsey was getting ready in the back. At this time my family, groomsmen and I went and took our Pictures to cut down on the normal picture time after the ceremony since we did not really have a cocktail hour. Everything was going good until 9:55 AM rolled around and Maureen Schmidt, our minister, was not present yet. I left my cell phone at my apartment thinking I would not need it. Once 10:00 AM rolled around I wish I had brought it. I am now in a panic worrying about Maureen. Around 10:06 AM Maureen rushed in and not a minute later was up on the gazebo getting everyone ready for the ceremony to start. The ceremony started around 10:09 AM. My nerves were shot, but a huge relief hit me when Maureen finally showed up.
After we walked down the aisle as planned I took my spot next to Maureen and awaited the arrival of my wife to be. The music started and out walked the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. She looked gorgeous. Outside there was a slight breeze with beautiful sunshine. Now standing in front of me was the most beautiful bride, she was so nervous and shaking. I was calm and cool, like I figured I would be. After all, it is only family. The ceremony started and ended as quickly as the ceremony started. We ended making a line leading into the reception hall for everyone to congratulate us as they entered into the reception hall. Although we lined up on the wrong side, it all eventually worked out.
For the next hour or so Lyndsey, my family, her family, the bridesmaids, the groomsmen and I went to take out pictures. Once we arrived into the reception hall we were introduced as Mr. and Mrs. James A Worthen. We sat down and than got right back up to head for food. The food setup was awesome; Lyndsey's mom's cousin (Patti) did an awesome job for us. The food tasted and looked great! After dinner Lyndsey and I went around to the tables to mingle and thank people for coming. This took about 30 to 45 minutes. After we hit every table it was time for the father/daughter dance which was danced to Butterfly Kisses (by some Carl guy not Crazytown). I cut in halfway through Butterfly Kisses at which point the music faded into Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. Halfway through Aerosmith the bridesmaid's and groomsmen joined in and that started off the dancing.
The dance floor was pretty empty for the most part, mainly little kids dancing. Although it turned out a lot better than I anticipated the dance floor was still empty for the most of the time. The day slowly ended with Lyndsey and I driving away in her decorated Nissan Sentra. At this point the night "ended" at least for everyone else, but the rest I will leave to your imaginations.
Thanks for Reading,
--Jim
