1/31/09 Shabbat message/ News Letter Why Messianic Halakha is needed part 2 By Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton *{Covenant Relationship} * Scripture: Gen 17.1-14/ Ex 12.25-50/ Deut 10. 1-21/ Romans 2.27-29/ John 7.1-39/ Act's 7.1-8/ Romans 4.9-25 AVRAHAM WAS THE FIRST GER THE CONVERTED JEW Gen 17. says from the The Complete Jewish Bible/ The Orthodox Jewish Bible in verse 1.When Avram was 99 years old YHVH appeared to Avram and said to him I am El Shaddai YHVH walk in my presence[ Halakha ] and be pure hearted. 2. I will make my covenant between me and you,and I will increase your numbers greatly 3. Avram fell on his face, and YHVH continued speaking with him. VS 9. YHVH said to Avraham ( not Avram any longer why?) as for you, you are to keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you, generation after generation 10.Here is my covenant, which you are to keep, between me and you, along with your descendants (Jews and Gentiles to come-Rabbi Shaul proves that later) after you: every male among you is to be circumcised 11. You are to be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; this will be the sign of the covenant between me and you vs 14. Any uncircumcised male who will not let himself be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin -that person will be cut off(destroyed- not connected with the G-d of Israel) from his people, because he has broken my covenant. From The Orthodox Jewish Bible Vs 8- which proves Avraham was a converted Jew. And I will give unto thee, and to thy zera after thee, the Eretz wherein thou art now a ger, kol Eretz Kena'an, for an Achuzzah (possession) olam (everlasting) and I will be their Elohim YHVH ___________________________________________________________________________ Avraham came from Ur with his family around 2,100 BCE- He grew up observing various idol gods and worshiping at Ziggurats , such Islam gods as Allah, The moon god piece of rock- which means he grew up directly in between Iran and Iraq, Which proves he was not a Jew, He was appointed as a gentile to lead YHVH'S People- Rabbi Shaul proves that Romans 4. 9- 25 verse 9. Now is this blessing for the circumcised only? Or is it also for the uncircumcised? For we say that Avraham's trust was credited to his account as righteousness 10.but what state was he in when it was so credited -circumcision or uncircumcision? Not in circumcision but in uncircumcision ! 11.In fact, he received circumcision as a sign(covenant, Judaism) as a seal [sphragizo-stamp with a signet- YHVH imprint] of the righteousness he had been credited with on the ground of the trust he had while he was still uncircumcised. This happened so that he could be the father of every uncircumcised person who trusts and thus has righteousness credited to him. 12. and at the same time be the father of every circumcised person who not only has had a Brit milah, but also follows in the footsteps of the trust which Avraham avinu had when he was still uncircumcised 13. For the promise to Avraham and his seed that he would inherit the world did not come through legalism ( Jewish Legalism ) but through the righteousness that trust produces 14. For if the heirs ( Jews and Gentiles) are produces by legalism( Jewish man made laws) , then trust is pointless and the promise is worthless. YHVH called a gentile to head the Jewish nation, he converted him and Avram- which means exalted father became Avraham which means: Father of many- This Avraham would have been the first convert, no rabbi was there to draw him to a mohel, or to bring him to the mitzvot. YHVH himself drew him from paganism and made him the father of all nations of Jews every where, from the shores of African to the largest structures of Russia, a gentile was used and after all those years of being used by YHVH, he converted to Judaism because YHVH told him that this signature or seal needed to be fulfilled, Look at what Yeshua said in John 7.1-39[ read the whole chapter] for us we want to deal with verses 14- 24 Not until the festival(Sukkot) was half over did Yeshua go up to the Temple courts and begin to teach( teaching Torah) 15. The Yudeans were surprised: How does this man know so much without having studied(at a Yeshiva) they asked 16. So Yeshua gave them an answer. My teaching is not my own, it comes from the one who sent me. 17 If anyone wants to do his will, he will know whether my teaching is from YHVH or I speak on my own. 18.A person who speaks on his own is trying to win praise for himself; but a person who tries to win praise for the one who sent him is honest, there is nothing false about him 19. Didn't Moshe give you the Torah? Yet not one of you obeys the Torah! Why are you out to kill me? 20. you have a demon! The crowd answered. Who's out to kill you? 21.Yeshua answered them “ I did one thing; and because of this, all of you are amazed 22. Moshe gave you b'rit milah- not that it came from Moshe but from the patriarchs [ Avraham, Yitzchak, Ya'akov] - and you do a boy's Brit milah on Shabbat 23. If a boy is circumcised on Shabbat so that the Torah of Moshe will not be broken, why are you angry with me because I made a man's whole body well on Shabbat ? 24. Stop judging by surface appearances, and judge the right way! The word Halacha comes from again. The Hebrew word to mean- To walk, it is a term used for the rules and ruling's that govern Jewish life. In this lesson we are covering the first section of the twenty five listing of the sets of Halakha at least based on the listing of Messianic Halakha, I concluded last week that outside of Messianic Judaism other branches of Judaism have over 221 listing's of Halakha- which are mainly man made sections of the sects of rabbinical and orthodox. As we see according to this lesson the importance of Brit Milah and how it signifies the seal, the covenant of YHVH as belong to him, It should not be done for purposed of Jewish Ethics and Jewish belief systems, It should be observed because YHVH stated his reasons for it being done, it reveals a sign between his covenant people verses his curses people. The scriptures listed reveal a covenant relationship, between YHVH and his people. A contract, between what is of YHVH verses those who don't belong to him at all. Brit Milah means literally means: covenant of circumcision, We seem to forget that there are other covenants that YHVH made between himself and his people- The Moedim's are covenant's, The Brit Melach- Salt offering is a covenant, This covenant is equally important, This covenant is a perpetual covenant for every generation to continue, If they are apart of The G-d of Israel. The covenant between YHVH and Israel is through circumcision performed by a Mohel (circumciser) on the eighth day of the boy's life, The Jewish biblical law/ Torah demands that every male be circumcised according to Genesis 17.1-14- circumcision was enjoined when YHVH said: Walk before me and be perfect- What YHVH was saying was walk be before me and be Gamar , Become complete, whole- How can you become complete and whole, by obeying the commands of scriptures, his people would become gamar,or Avram became gamar by obeying, further it sealed his linage with us Jewish people forever , and it sealed every gentile forever who wants to serve The G-d of Israel, they are giving the acceptance through circumcision and through obedience of Torah, Gen 17. YHVH told Avraham to walk before me, walk now this way- His being a gentile wasn't enough- circumcision is not a gentile oracle, and medical circumcision is not spiritual or biblical circumcision. YHVH said walk before me and be or become perfect, This seal was a covenant, a perpetual signature of YHVH on his people forever, completed the order of scripture, fulfilling his connection with Torah, and all else who comes to accept this YHVH must circumcised every single male child born after eight day's, and every- Ger- who comes as an adult must be circumcised, receiving this Brit- covenant on them as belonging to Israel. If the male is not willing to do so, look at what YHVH and not Avraham has said about that man Gen 17. 14 Any uncircumcised male who will not let himself be circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin- that person will be cut off from his people, because(reason) he has broken( disobeyed) my covenant( briyth) We will talk about that more in a second, Avram was 99 year's old he had been used by YHVH to do many wonderful thing's, but he was still incomplete, because he represented YHVH but not Israel yet, Milah completed him and sealed him with the covenant, That fulfillment changed him in my opinion from Avram to Avraham- for 3500 years since the time of our forefather Avraham The Jewish people including Yeshua have observed circumcision as the foundational sign of the covenant, even proving who truly belongs to Yeshua and who doesn't, even proving those brothers who are apart of Torah and are not, circumcision doesn't prove salvation, but it does prove obedience, It does prove who really belongs to Yeshua and who really doesn't- seeing other the person will be cut off, The Torah isn't erased and done away, Yeshua stated he did not come to do away with the Torah- Matt 5. so the statements in Genesis 17 still stand, A covenant is a Briyth, a mutual agreement, Diatheke- an eternal contract. Brit Milah is the ultimate affirmation of Jewish Identity , no matter how close a bible believing brother is, without biblical, not medical circumcision, He is not identified with the G-d of the Jewish people and is in danger, for breaking that eternal perpetual covenant. We have several things to cover in this chapter. The first is that YHVH states that He is going to make this covenant with Avraham, and through this covenant make Avraham a father of many nations, so that the nations (plural) may be blessed through him. And why is this word nation presented in the plural? Because YHVH, through this covenant, is not just going to bless Israel only, but all the nations outside of Israel as well. You see, this isn’t just a covenant with the Jews, it’s not just a covenant with Judah, or Ephraim, or the 12 tribes, or one of the tribes. It is a covenant for all 12 tribes of the nation of Israel, and for the people of the nations outside of Israel who desire to be grafted in to Israel (Romans 11). This covenant applies to people like me, and others like Ruth, Like The Samaritan women, like all gentiles since Avraham, like all the mixed people with Moshe in Exodus 12. and all of us till the time of Yeshua's return who have accepted the messiah of the Jews, The Torah of the Jews, This same Yeshua who was and still is a Jew, who taught in the Temple, observed all feast, and kept the Torah himself, who wore Tzitzit, Tefillin, Tillit, and fulfilled the whole body of scriptures not simply for Born Jews, or Gerim but also for the gentiles out here who don't know the Jewish messiah, who may know the mixed seed doctrine of a Christianized messiah, The Roman dogma like i myself once followed, But don;t know the truth about this Yeshua is never knew a term like Jesus, who never was a Christian or even observed easter and Halloween, Who was circumcised on the eight day and who kept observing his entire 33.1/2 years the whole Torah, Tanakh and died to birth Brit Chadasha for all men. Why is covenant relationship's with our Moshiach and creator YHVH so important, thou they are Echad, why is it important. We are apart of that covenant that was given to Avraham, where it mentions descendants, that's us-When we have a covenant relationship with Yeshua- we are in mutual agreement to obey his commands, To love his rules and rulings, To love Law, Order, Instructions, He said his Torah, that is was not grevious, We are to love his commandments. Love him for loving us enough to allow us to learn them, and appreciate him enough for not condemning us when we were not obeying them out of our own ignorances Next Week's lesson part 3. Why Messianic Halakha is needed Pt 3. The Mikvah in Yeshua - 2/7/09 { Welcome to our E- Training Program } Mitzvot is Law,Commandment- Halakha is Teaching, Application By Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton MCM Translation & Commentary Script: Lev 11.36/ Zech 13.1-9/ Rom 6.1-23/ Acts 2.1-47/ Acts 8. 1-40/ Acts 19.1-19/ Messianic Hebrews 6.1-20 Looking at Leviticus one of the first instances of this term Mikvah is being used in several ways i want to show you. I want to prove that these Messianic Jews in the Brit Chadasha knew no such term as Baptism, which comes from some Greek words, we will look at that later Lev 11- which is the same chapter where we get Kashrut and Kosher from, We see in verse 36, this pool mentioned as remaining clean-Kadshim, consecrated, Holy. It states: although a spring or cistern for collecting water remains clean. end of quote So then we see a Mikvah is a Spring, Fountain, Pool, Cistern. Zechariah 13.1-9 paints that picture to be Yeshua- It states 13.1 When the day comes , a spring(Mikvah) will be open up for the Beit Dovid (House of David) and the Jews /Gerims living in Yerushalayim to cleanse them from sin and impurity( Tomeh- Ritually Unclean) 2.when that day comes says YHVH Tzva'ot , I will cut off the very names of the idols from the land(False Moshiachs also) so that no one even remembers them anymore. I (Yeshua) will also expel the false prophets and the spirit of uncleanness from the land. 3. so that if anyone continues to prophecy, his own father and mother who brought him into the world will stab him to death 4. When that day comes, each one of the prophets will be shamed by his vision when he prophesies. He will stop wearing a hair cloak(Kippa) to deceive people( Look Religious) 5. and instead he will say, I'm no prophet , I just work the soil; since my youth I've only wanted to be an ordinary man 6. If someone asks him, Then what are these gashes between your shoulders? He will answer I got hurt at my friends house 7. Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me says YHVH Tzva'ot strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the young ones, in time, throughout the land says YHVH (Yeshua included) read the rest of that chapter yourself, it gives a clear distinction of this mikvah to come being Yeshua, that a spring, a cistern, a mikvah is being opened in the future for the house of Dovid, the only way for those sins to be erased is through Yeshua, which is another indicator that it is talking about him. The word Halacha again comes from the word to mean walk, it is a term that applies to rules and rulings that govern Jewish life. In this lesson we will cover part three of the twenty five Halakha listings that we are teaching, Last week we taught on Milah, the week before that- we did an over view of this series and what Halakha is and today is part three being Mikvah- The word Mikvah is pronounced either Mikvah, Mikva'ot or Mikves and it is a ritual bath initially from the old covenant stand point. It is designed for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism, The word Mikvah literally means: a collection, collection of Mayim(Water) Halakha requires that women immerse in the Mikvah to enter a state of spiritual purity, for a kosher immersion, Halakha prescribes the guidelines and preparations. A Mitzvah is a commandment and Mikvah is apart of the commands all through the New Covenant as well, Let me prove it to you, The Mikvah offers the individual, the community and the nation of Israel, the remarkable gift of purity and Holiness, The qualification is the Mikvah must contain a minimum of two hundred gallons of water or rainwater that was gathered and siphoned into a pool in accordance with a highly specific set of regulations, In most cases Mikvahs are comprised of sometimes two or three adjoining pools. Halakha stipulates that one must be scrupulously clean already before Immersion, unlike Baptism which is but Romes carbon copy of what had been in place since Judaism being Mikvah, With baptism you can be a sinner one minute and baptized the next, or as my old Pastor would say go down a dry devil and come up a wet devil, not so with the Mikvah, You have to already be cleansed and prepared in your heart for Mikvah. According to the book of Jewish Knowledge, by Nathan Ausubel he states: The Jewish woman was traditionally required to go to the Mikvah for purposes or religious purification following her menstrual cumstances. Today in the inevitably relaxed climate of Jewish Religious observance, only the most strictest traditionalistic orthodox women attend the Mikvah . Indispensable to religious life at the synagogue, the house of study Beit Ha'Midrash- The Talmud, Torah relates in fact that every Jewish community was obliged by rabbinical law to maintain a Mikvah. And we can see that even Yeshua went to Mikvah before he could perform any miracles, because he fulfilled every section and line of Torah, He would have had to receive Mikvah because he is Cohen Hagadol- The high priest, no priest of the Temple in Jerusalem could have entered the Temple without receiving several Mikvahs, Let's reveal further, The Mikvah remains an unchangeable Jewish process of cleansing that Yeshua himself experienced and also every single messianic believer of the first century received mikvah also, let's see a little of that in the text. Romans 6. 1-23 -Let's read verses 3-4Don't you recognize that those of you who have been Immersed(Mikvah) into(Bonded, in the body) the Mashiach- Messiah Yeshua have been( result of mikvah)immersed into his death. 4. Through Mikvah into his death we were buried with him( Put on Yeshua, New man, new life, died of old self) so that just as, through the glory of the Father, the Messiah was raised from the dead, like wise we too might live a new life. Romans 8.1-40/ Philip preceded Rabbi Shaul: and here we see a mikvah taking place, You will have to read it, but we see a Ethiopian Jew (Beta Yisrael) reading the scroll of Isaiah in Hebrew without understanding, YHVH sends by way of an Angel to tell Philip to go where this Ethiopia Leader was and Philip asked him a question, We will see that in a second, we saw in verse 12. that there was a great number of Men and Women being seen going in Mikvah and who had received Yeshua as Jews already, We see this Witch craft worker named Shim'on receiving Mikvah then we see this African brother in Yerushalyim apparently after the feast of Shavuot, He was obviously going home and stopped on the road to read Isaish 53. about Yeshua Ha'Mashiach unknowingly, so then he is already Jewish who becomes Messianic, There was water and he received Immersion into Yeshua, Mikvah of faith to obey Yeshua, to fulfill the text and to follow this Yeshua, I believe this Ethiopian went back home to Ethiopia and witnessed there to his family after verse 39 the scripture said the Ethiopian went on his way and Philip was snatched away from the Ethiopian and appeared at Ashdod, This Ethiopian i believe, in my opinion he spreaded the message of Yeshua in Ethiopia amongst his family and friends, which may attest why there are some Messianic in Ethiopia and have been for a very long time. Acts 19.1-19/ Hebrews 6.1-20 further prove that these messianic first century believers obeyed Torah through observing Mikvah and not Baptism, The Besorah that they all received was Torah and Tanakh, not Brit Chadasha It is also in my opinion that the Old Brit and the New Brit is one Brit, Rome gave us these divisions, chapters and sections, I believe the whole bible is Torah, The what is called New Brit is stories all about Old Brit, So then the bible is one Brit and should be called One Covenant without chapters and divisions in my opinion, Genesis to Revelation one book. Not 66 Books, one book, anyway The Mikvah was that same water of separation in the Old Brit, where the mind of faith for circumcision was confessed, This faith and circumcision placed the convert under the promises of Avraham. The convert had no choice but to go through these waters of sanctification, therefore the Mikvah is not of works, It is washing the old man off to be of the nation of Israel and with us for the purpose of following the true Jewish Messiah- Yeshua Ha'Mashiach Melech, The Mikvah of faith separates those who are in the Messiah verses those who aren't. And the Baptism in Church is not applied, it was a counterfeit work with the receiving of Romes beliefs, principals, idol 165 gods and i will disclose shortly that baptism doesn't fit the specifications of Mikvah which further proves that all who received it away from the Jewish mikvah did it to no avail, Yes Yeshua winked at our ignorance but now that you are assured and has come in the truth, what hinders you from receiving the true Mikvah as the Ethiopian stated, here is some water, what hinders us? Do it Torah way or your way, your way don't work, wouldn't you rather receive the mikvah of the messiah and no that you are entering this water to be buried with Yeshua and to come out of it a new person in the messiah, verses being Baptized to receive Christianity or better yet to receive the gods of paganism, to worship them through ignorant religious works of non profit, I am in no way stating that a person who received baptism of romanism is lost from salvation, Yeshua sees there hearts, but once you learn the truth why not walk(Halakha) in it, and receive the true Mikvah and not the counterfeit mixed seed religion called Christianity and it's quick water rise salvation, That Baptism is pagan and guess where Rome picked up most of it's beliefs that it used to create it's invention called: Christianity they took it from Judaism. Rome conquered Jerusalem you know! So then Baptism is Romes Carbon Copy of Mikvah, The original Jewish Pool. When new converts came to Rabbi Shaul they did not receive Baptism, Rabbi Shaul knew no such roman Greek term as Baptism- The Terms for Baptism which come from Greek are: baptisma-baptismos-baptizo-baptistes The word baptize derives from the Greek word βάπτειν (the infinitive; also listed as the 1st person singular present active indicative βαπτίζω), which loosely means "to dip, bathe, or wash". To some groups it is a matter of religious conviction to assert that baptism is literally equivalent to, to plunge something entirely into the water, so that the water closes over it. To other groups, baptism is a symbolic term meaning "identification with" (e.g. Jesus) having no connection with earthly ritual. The truth is it's Mikvah, ritual and spiritual Form of Baptism: Among those Christian espousing the practice of baptism, the ritual is performed as: Aspersion- sprinkling water over the head (not Torah) Affusion -Pouring water over the head (not Torah) Immersion - lowering the entire body into a pool of water( much closer to Torah) Isn't it interesting that even the cultist groups Immerse members in there cult, like The Church of Joseph Smith (Mormons) Denominations alike, Catholicism Etc. Rabbi Shaul knew what a Mikvah was, there all around Jerusalem he was a Pharisaic Jew. He would have entered a Mikvah to go to the Temple for Festival Times. The First Century Messianic Congregations would have entered this Mikvah also, The same Jewish ritual means for cleansing. The Torah speaks of numerous things that makes a person (Tomeh) Ritually unclean, and a number of processes of purification. The one act requires in all purification processes was Immersion in the Mikvah, A man from the tribe of Levi, a son of Aharon could not assume his office as priest(Cohanim) until he had gone through a Mikvah. Before a person could be (Tahor) ritually clean- To enter the grounds of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem , he must be immersed in Mikvah. The severest judgmental punishment was imposed on a person for entering the Temple area in the state of Tomeh- ritual impure, a women in her monthly cycle would have to ware special clothing so that all would no that she was in the state of Niddah- ritual unclean due to her cycle, she would not be Tahor- ritually clean until after entering the Mikvah be it river, man made ground built Mikvah near the Temple or elsewhere. Immersion in a Mikvah is an integral part of Conversion to Judaism, without conversion with Mikvah, The conversion isn't valid. The Mikvah is as the Messiah purifying his people from there sins. Apart of that hypothesis explains a Mikvah at the tree that took place, While Yeshua Ha'Mashiach still hung on that Roman tree, The Soldiers pierced him in his side, Immediately there came out Blood- Haima and water Mayim/Hudor " John 19.34 which would express that blood being the Kipporah- Atonement for the sins, and the water being the Mikvah washing those sins away. Propitiating those sins through the Mikvah of Yeshua's final sacrifice. The opening of the cleansing fountain or Mikvah for Israel in Zech 13.1 is Yeshua as that fountain, eternal Mikvah, Here is a concise listing of Mikvah specifications which would further dispel Baptism as being the same as Mikvah 1. No other liquid but water may be used, no coloring, dyes Etc. 2The Mikvah must be built into the ground, or be apart of a building attached to the ground, It cannot consist of any vessel that can be disconnected and carried away, such as a Tub, Vat, or Barrel Etc. 3.The water of a Mikvah cannot be running or flowing, The only exception to the rule is a natural spring of water, or river whose water is derived mainly from springs. 4.The water of the Mikvah must be brought together by natural means, not drawn 5.The water cannot be channeled to the Mikvah through anything that can become Tomeh- unclean 6.The Mikvah must contain no less than 40 Sa'ah of water,(Minimum) that is approximately 150 to 200 gallons or more. The Baptisteries in the local church, do not fit the criteria of a clean ritual bath Of the Mikvah there are three types of Immersion 1.Immersion of whole body 2.Immersion of the hands 3.Hands and feet The clearest differences of Baptism verse Mikvah is also the preacher goes in the water with you and dunk you under three times in the name of the father, son and whom they call the holy ghost, Rabbi allows the person to dunk themselves, it's there profession of faith, plus Mikvah is a Jewish identify not Romes, Mikvah is not a once in a lifetime event, but an action to be experienced over and over again. The power of immersion cleanses the spiritually unclean and brings about healing and restoration. The main purpose of immersion into water is not physical cleanliness, though that does play a part in Scriptural t'vilah. The most important reason we have been called to t'vilah is to reinforce the Bible's message of separation. As believers, we have been called out of darkness into the Light of YHVH Yeshua. The earth was immersed in the beginning. As part of creation, the Almighty immersed the world in water. "YHVH said, Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear, and it was so. And the waters under the heaven gathered to their gatherings and the dry land appeared. And YHVH called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the water He called Seas: and YHVH saw that it was good. And YHVH said, Let the earth bring out grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought out grass and herb yielding seed after its kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after its kind: and Elohim saw that it was good." Genesis 1: 8-12 Believe it or not, there is a Mikvah in these verses! The Hebrew word for "gathering the waters" or "gathered to their gatherings" (Genesis 1:9) is actually "mikvah." The place where the waters gathered was a mikvah, or a "gathering of moving waters that renders a ritually unclean person clean." New life sprung forth after the waters were gathered into a mikvah. The Torah says that "the Ruach (Spirit) of YHVH moved upon the face of the waters." The Rabbis teach that when YHVH hovered over the waters, He impregnated the waters and the creation was birthed from this action of hovering. "Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it? The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen." Job 38 shows the basis for this imagery Immersion is also an act of repentance, following rebellion against YHVH. In the beginning Adam and Chavah allowed sin to corrupt them and were therefore rendered ritually unclean. They were cast from YHVH'S Presence. The Rabbis teach that after Adam was banished, he sat in a river that flowed from the Garden. This was his immersion after sin that showed his desire to return to the Creator. As Adam sat in the moving waters that flowed from the Garden he could remember his former state and he no doubt mourned the loss of closeness with the Creator. The Hebrews And Mikvah The role of mikvah continues with the story of the Peseach First, Israel was enslaved in bondage to Pharaoh. They cried out to YHVH in prayer and the He heard them. He delivered the Israelites, setting them free from slavery through ten horrible plagues. As the people fled the evil ruler, they came to a dead end. Pharaoh was pursuing them from behind and before them was the massive Yam Suf. What would happen? The Torah says that the immense waters of the Yam Suf parted and our ancestors walked across the deep on dry land. With the walls of water on either side of them, the Israelites experienced mikvah, "Our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea." I Corinthians 10: 1-2 The same waters that receded for the Israelites, though, flooded Pharaoh and his army as they tried to cross the Yam Suf. The Hebrew word "t'vilah" appears in Exodus, when Pharaoh's army was overtaken by the sea waters. "YHVH is a man of war, YHVH is His Name. Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Yam Suf ." Exodus 15 The word translated drowned is actually "mikvah." Pharaoh and his army were immersed and killed by the waters. T'vilah is symbolic of the womb, of new life and of bringing death. Shortly after the 'Yam Suf ' mikvah, the Israelites received the Torah from YHVH at Mount Sinai and experienced yet another t'vilah. "YHVH said to Moshe, Go to the people and set them apart today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready by the third day: for on the third day YHVH will come down in the sight of all the people upon Mount Sinai. And Moshe went down from the mount to the people, and set-apart the people, and they washed their clothes. And he said to the people, Be ready for the third day. Approach not your wives in intimacy." Exodus 19:10,11,14. For Israel to continue in intimacy with YHVH they had to wash themselves, separate themselves and prepare for the Set Apart One. Notice that they had already been immersed in the Yam Suf, yet, they had to experience t'vilah again. This time, immersion's purpose was to cleanse the nation to experience YHVH. I like to show you a few other New Brit scriptures in my conclusion Look at what Yeshua himself taught after the resurrection Go yourselves all over and teach all nations (all Jews and Goys) immersing(Mikvah) them in the name of the father-Abba, and of the son-Yeshua and of the Holy Spirit -Ruach Hokodesh Matt 18.19 Mark 16.33- He that believeth and received Mikvah shall be saved(without it, it seems to say-not saved otherwise) but he that doesn't believe is katakrino(judged already) damned Eph 4. 5 Echad Hashem, Echad Emuwn, Echad Mikvah one G-d, one way to salvation, one way of cleansing of sin One Hashem, One Faith, One Mikvah One Lord, One Faith, One Immersion "You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them." Leviticus 15: 31 "That ye may put difference between holy and unholy and between unclean and clean." Leviticus 10:10 "Think not that I(Yeshua) am come to destroy the Torah (law), or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill.(Strengthen to the full) Matthew 5 "Repent for the kingdom of Shomayim is near. Let us draw near with a leb tahor, in full assurance of 'emunah' (trusting faithfulness), having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed(Mikvah) with pure water." Hebrews 10:22 "Having been buried with him in Mikvah and raised with him through your faith in the power of YHVH, who raised him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, YHVH made you alive with the Master(Yeshua) He forgave us all our sins." Why Messianic Halakha is needed` Pt 4. 2/14/09- Mitzvot is Law/ Halakha is Teaching, Application By Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton E-Training Program The Prayer(Tefillah,Daven) Life Come and enter in the Holies of Holy ( Kodesh, Hagios) { Actually read it all } Ahavat Limud- Ahavat Torah Script(Tefillah) The Complete Jewish Bible/ The Orthodox Jewish Bible Divrei Hayamim Bet- 2 Chron 6.1-42/ Nechemyah- Nehemiah 1.1-11/ Nehemiah 2.1-20/Mishlei- Prov 15.20-33/ Prov 28 verse 9/ Dani'El 9.1-27 Brit Chadasha Text mentioning Tefillah Rom 12.12/ Rom 15.30/ 1 Cor 7.5/ Eph 6.18/ Phil 1.4/ Colos 4.2/ 1 Thess 1.2/ 1 Tim 2.1/ 2 Tim 1.3 / Ya'akov- James 5.15-16/ 1 Kefa-Peter 3.12/ 1 Kefa-Peter 4.7/ Hisgalus- Revelations 5.8/ Revelations 8.3-4 ______________________________________ of course when even you see the word prayer in the text, It indicates it's Tefillah, more over in my mind, not all prayer is Tefillah- when you see the hearts anguish sobbing with all life before YHVH that is the true sign of Tefillah. This is very good lesson this week, as we have reached our fourth part of our Messianic Halakha and there is a lot to say in this lesson, so let's begin: Mishle- Proverbs 28.9- He who turns away his ear(Heart, Soul ) from hearing the Torah, Even his prayer (Tefillah) is an Abomination What is an Abomination ? hate, loathe, dislike If our Tefillah is not lined up with the will of YHVH he will not hear you, People are asking you to pray for them, and you know they are living a lie, living in sin and not even seeking Yah, my response is i won't pray for you- But i am praying that you come to repentance and accept salvation, We dealt today in the teaching of this Halakha that if the person is not listening and willing to adhere to Torah, there prayer is an Abomination,Abomination means hate- Which means YHVH detest there praying to him with sin still misdealt with, We will see that Tefillah shows a person has judged them selves to be ready for Tefillah, They have prepared them selves for Tefillah by judging and making certain that they have washed them selves from sin, There are conditions to Tefillah, the first is recognizing YHVH with fear and reverence and the second is Halel- Praise him and exonerate his holy name then make your request known, I wish i could extract all of the juices of the word as preached before being entered in this news letter- however this is the best amount of that source. opposite of Christian dogma, you can just beg G-d for whatever and he will give it to you, name it claim it, grab it blab it. Without any conditions of self being prepared to go before YHVH, We can't go before him any kind of way- our hearts must be in order to come before him, He is Holy, Creator, King of Kings and we must judge within ourselves am i prepared to go before his throne room and seek him, another example of that is Nechemyah 1. 1- 11(MCM Commentary) Which indicates how Nehemiah saw the destruction of Jerusalem's Temple- What conditions was his Tefillah 1. Tears 2. Mourning several days 3. Fasting 4. Tefillah 5. Teshuvah- Repentance for sins Nehemiah didn't even do but yet he asked for forgiveness for the sins we(Israel) committed, He places himself in Israel's condition- All Jew is one Jew- If you hurt we all hurt, If your bleeding we all bleed, The Jew has one heart in different vessels and that is what Nehemiah was seeking in his Tefillah. All these things preceded any request and supplication, then came Tefillah verse7. He recognizes all that Israel did against Torah, Mitzvot and so we see before chapter two every gets read, chapter one is all Tefillah a complete chapter of eleven verses full of Tefillah regarding the state of the Temple and Israel and the people, That chapter is filled with all kinds of conditions such as verse 9. If(Conditional) you shall turn back to me and guard my mitzvots and do them, though you were cast out to the end of shomayim. I(YHVH) will gather them from there and bring them to the place which I(YHVH) have chosen, to make my name dwell there. The word Halakha comes from again, The Hebrew word to mean> To walk, It is a term used for Rules and Rulings that govern Jewish life. In this lesson we will cover of the twenty five Messianic Halakha listings, We will cover the Halakha importance of Tefillah " so then we have at this fourth session covered 1. Overview 2.Milah 3.Mikvah and today is #4. Tefillah all back lessons and about another 27 lessons can be obtained by going to www.aeonity.com/kingdom The Kingdom Living Letters. TM © Mind Changing Ministries Please keep in mind the word used in the very first lesson just about a month ago was Halakha Shel Ha'Derech- The walk of the, or this way. Specifically how we are to walk according to Torah first, Tanakh, Brit Chadasha after the inward man to please Yeshua. Tefillah is the Hebrew word for prayer , It incorporates the Jewish Amidah prayer- The Sephardim, The prayer book and is one of the many terms especially most common in the Bible for prayers in general. The Hebrew root means' to think, entreat, judge, intercede and the reflective means: To judge oneself and then to prayer. Prayer in the bible is individual and corporate with the psalms containing both as well as being embedded in both Temple and sanctuary ritual. The destruction of the second Temple( Beit Ha'Mikdash ) accelerated the development of regular liturgical prayers as a counterpart to the vanished Temple and sanctuary ritual worship and sacrifices ,Which was known as Avodah She Balev- The service/ worship of the heart B. Ta'ah.29- with a strong emphasis on brakah(blessings) and benedictions. Jewish prayer eventually around the 8th and 9th century B.C.E. Led to the compilation of prayer books such as siddurs, feast day prayer books Etc. What does Tefillah do? The Torah in Brieshis 2.5 and Rashi Ibid- which is Genesis 2.5 under commentary states a wonderful expression and story of the true meaning of Tefillah, It states that the grass was ready to come out from the ground on the third day, but there was no rain because there as no man to realize the necessity of Rain. On the sixth day Adam/ Adamah was created and he realized the value of Rain only after he prayed for the rain, did it come down and make the plants grow. This teaches us that even if something is ready in Shomayim for a person, if he/she doesn't see the importance of it which would make him/her realize his obligation to pray for it then he/she may not get it. Which is why Tefillah is derived from the root Pe(Pay) Lamed from my Hebrew guide sheet and the word L'HitPallel meaning to judge oneself. Tefillah is some thing that is necessary for a person to obtain what we need, surely Hashem knows our inward needs without our request or supplications, But it is his will to be sought after and cried to with a sincere and contrite heart- For then can he see where the heart is and the inward desire of the person who prays( Tefillah,Daven) Without Tefillah everything is frozen, dormant in place even though it is all finished and ready for the person. This is the first point of Tefillah, or a negative aspect of Tefillah to some, Even if a person deserves something and it is all ready for them, they will not get it if they don't ask, pray for it. There is also another aspect of Tefillah, it is a certain power that enables one to even obtain things that one doesn't deserve things that he would never think about getting can be acquired through Tefillah- for example; Solomo prayed for Chokmah and received the extra benefit of wealth associated with the Tefillah to lead YHVH'S people 1 Kings 3. Although Hashem YHVH had sworn to Moshe that he wouldn't enter Eretz Yisrael, never the less Moshe Rabbainu kept Tefillah before Hashem, The Midrash Rabbo- Dvarim 11.6 -relates that while Moshe was praying- YHVH told the malak, aggelos(Messenger Angel)to close the gates of Tefillah, So that Moshe's prayer couldn't enter. Had the Tefillah entered the gates, it could have reversed the decree despite Hashem's oath. Never the less we see YHVH answered Moshe's Tefillah because he entered the promise land(Canaan- Israel at the transfiguration) who was there 1. Yeshua Ha'Mashiach 2. Rabbi Moshe 3. Rabbi Eliyahu- Luke 9.18-36 Which further illustrates that no prayer- Tefillah- goes unanswered, how YHVH answers is another story, his will precedes your wants and he won't change his will which is his word because of a prayer, Tefillah- All prayer is not a genuine Tefillah I've heard of stories where persons prayed for another man's wife and another woman's husband, Well that is the kind of stuff which comes in Christianity not Messianic Judaism but using such an analogy would that prayer get answered- which goes against the word, Torah- it will not, Some people are praying saying Yah's name in it but the prayer isn't for him at all, There greed and there desires is the prayer labeled with Yah's name when the contributor is Ha'Satan while that Tefillah is reserved for HaSatan for His glory and YHVH doesn't hear it at all, Tefillah must be centered around the word and will of YHVH- not according to our begging selves. A Rabbi Chazkel points out how we are submerged in a society that constantly preaches Kochi V'otzem Yadi everything we attain is through our might and our great intelligence and not through Hashem. Men have idolized themselves, but when a catastrophe befalls them, that;s when they draw a Tefillah out of themselves to beg Hashem's mercy- but otherwise he wasn't important enough for them to serve and worship and live for all along. True Tefillah fulfills the first six Mitzvots 1.To know that there is a(Thee) Yah- Ex 20.2 2.Not to entertain thoughts of other El's- gods besides him- Ex 20.3 3.To know that he is Echad(Abba, Yeshua, Ruach) Deut 6.4 4.To love him- Deut 6.5 5.To Fear( Yare- Reverence) him- Deut 10.20 6.To Sanctify (hagiazo,qadash- make clean, purify) his name- Lev 22.32 Tefillah certainly fulfills other Mitzvots also, One may think that the power of Tefillah is only for the privileged few, who can reach such a high level and get close to Hashem through Tefillah. This is not so. Once our Avos instituted the three Tefillos- Avraham Avinu established the prayer of Shacharis (morning tefillah) Yitzchak Avinu Mincha and Ya'akov Avinu Ma'ariv they make the arrangements whereby even simple people in Klaf Yisroel can get closer to Hashem through Tefillah(Meimrei Shlomo Ibid.) Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin in Nefesh Hachaim, describes how Hashem created the world with an intricate system of spiritual powers, through which Hashem's bounty and influence is brought in to the physical world. This system is activated by Torah learning, Mitzvos and Tefillah. Hashem put us into this physical world so that we could earn the ultimate spiritual rewards which he desires to bestow upon us, an intimate relationship with him. We do not simply earn this reward. Rather we create that relationship through our actions in this world. By being willing to learn Torah, doing Mitzvos and davening- which is to daven, to pray " Daven which is widely accepted to refer to the act of praying, while Tefillah is the rendering of those prayers, as in to daven shacharit -To pray the morning prayer. According to Halakha (Jewish Law/Torah) Jewish men are required to pray three times a day, daily and four times daily on Shabbat/Shaboos Yehudin woman are required to pray at least daily, with no specific time requirement. Daven is said to related to Aramaic from the word meaning' Our Fathers- this refers again to the tradition that Avraham instituted the practice of morning prayer and Yitzchak afternoon prayer and Ya'akov the evening prayer, which proves that interesting point that all the great servants of YHVH knew the importance of seeking the face of YHVH through Tefillah, Daven and how in good times to rejoice and give him thanks for the victory and in the bad times, to praise him for the victory he will bring, and for the sins of Israel- to repent of there behalf and seek YHVH to restore them to his Ahavah. Why Messianic Halakha is needed Part 5 By Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton { To hear Hashem and Obey} Scriptures: Deut 6. 1-7(Shema)/ Mark 12.18-44(Shema)/ Isa 48.1-22/Deut 4.1-49/ John 6.1-71/Deut 9.1-29 __________________________________ Messianic Halakha comes from the word again to mean. To walk, It is a term used for rules and rulings that govern Jewish life, In this lesson we will cover of the 25 Messianic Halakha listings, We will cover the Halakha importance of Shema- so then this is the fifth session covered thus far, We have covered 1. Overview 2. Milah 3. Mikvah 4. Tefillah and the fifth today being Shema One of the first things i learned this week is that Yeshua himself quoted the shema as Moshe did in Dvarim 6. and I'll show you that in a second, There are three words i want to display in regard to shema and so an excellent example of Shema is pronounced Shmah- that has a primary meaning of Hear or Listen. It describes hearing and also it outcomes Understanding, Listening, The three terms of Shema then are to hear, listen and understand and so from a Hebraic standpoint it adds even a fuller meaning when expressing those three terms in depth 1.Hear- Azan- Listen/ Hashmauwth- Communicate/ Anah- Respond, Answer/ Akouo- To obey 2.Listen-Shama- To hear intelligently 3.Understand- Biyn- To discern/ Yada- To know/ Gnorizo- To reveal Epistamai- To comprehend So then in Dvarim 6.1-9 (The Complete Jewish Bible/ with MCM definition) Now this is the mitzvah, the laws and rulings which Adonai your God ordered me to teach you for you to obey(Akouo) In the land you are crossing over to possess, 2. so that you will fear(yare-revere)Adonai your God and observe(natsar-to guard, protect, maintain)all his regulations(chukkim) and mitzvot that I am giving you-you, your child and grandchild- as long as you live(Continuous)and so that you have long life. 3. Therefore listen(Shama)Israel, and take care to obey, so that things will go well with you , and so that you will increase greatly, as Adonai, the God(YHVH)of your ancestors, promised you by giving you a land flowing with milk and honey(Provision, productive land)4. Shema, Yisra'el(belonging to YHVH) Adonai Eloheinu. Adonai echad [ hear(Anah-respond,answer) Isra'el Adonai our God, Adonai is one(plurality)5. And you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart(Leb- With all that beats within you) all of your being(hayah- existence/ esmen-We are)and all your resources or might(Gbuwrah- Valor, Force, Power, Strength) Mark 12.18-31(Please read the whole chapter when you can) Then some Tz'dukim(Sadducees) came to him . They are the ones who say there is no such thing as resurection(Remember that difference they had with the Prushim) so they put to him a sh'eilah( question, saying, test)19.Rabbi, Moshe wrote for us that if a man's brother died and leaves a wife but no child, his brother must take the wife and have children to preserve the man's family line- Deut 25.5- 20. There were seven brothers. The first one took a wife and when he died, he left no children 21. The the second one took her and he died without leaving children, and the third likewise, 22. and none of the seven left children. Last of all, the woman also died 23(Yeshua responds to the test- In the Resurrection(Which the Tz'dukkim don't believe) whose wife will she be?(question opposed back at them) For all seven had her as wife 24. Yeshua said to them “Isn't this the reason that you go astray? Because you are ignorant both of the Tanakh and of the power of God? 25. For when people rise from the dead, neither men nor woman marry(No marriage in the Kingdom) they are like angels in heaven. 26. And as for the dead being raised, haven't you read in the book of Moshe( Exodus 3.6) in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, I am the God of Avraham, the God of Yitz'chak and the God of Ya'akov 27. He is God not of the dead, but of the living! You are going far astray 28.One of the Torah teachers(scribes) came up and heard them engaged in this discussion. Seeing that Yeshua answered them well, he asked him” Which is the most important mitzvah of them all? 29. Yeshua answered,” The most important is (Dvarim 6.1-9- For all those who say the Old Brit isn't in the New Brit- here's proof) Yeshua chants it himself: Sh'ma Yisra'el, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai echad[ hear, O Isra'el, the Lord our God, the Lord is one], 30. and you are to love Adonai your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your understanding(Biyn) and with all your strength 31. The second is this: you are to love your neighbor as yourself( Leviticus 19. 18-Torah) So then Yeshua knew the law(Torah of not Moshe but of YHVH) and look at all the Torah portions he was teaching in these verses and yes he quoted the Shema. For all these religious Jews who say Yeshua can't be the Moshiach because he didn't proclaim all the Torah, Here's proof, most religious Jews haven't read the New Testament to see for themselves. Let's look at this lesson: Keep in mind the word used in session one: Halakha Shel Ha'Derech- The walk of the or this way, Specifically how we are to walk according to Torah, and walking according to Torah is yet walking with Yeshua- We do so after the inward man to please Yeshua, not just to fulfill the requirements, We hold a dear and special relationship because we serve thee only living and true Moshiach- Yeshua that same Moshiach which all of Israel will later realize as the true Moshiach, Shema Yisrael or Sh'ma Yisroel or just Shema Hebrew for Hear-Anah- To answer, To respond Which are the first two words of the section of Torah which is the centerpiece of the morning and evening Jewish prayer services. This Shema is another Tefillah which is expresed as Shema-Hear/ Yisrael- O Israel/ Adonai-The Lord/ Eloheynu- Our Hashem is/ Adonai Echad- One Lord( Encompassing Abba, Ruach and Yeshua) The Shema is the central prayer in the Jewish Siddur- Prayer Book- and is often the first section of scripture that a Jewish child learns- Deut 6.4. during it's recitation in the synagogue- Orthodox Jews pronounce each word very carefully and cover their eyes with their right hand. Many Jews recite the shema at least twice daily- once in the morning, evening and at bed time. The Shema is actually more than just six words, The undertone response of Barukh Shem Kevod Malkhuto Le'Olam Va'Ed- after a pause- Deut 6.5-9/Mark 12. is recited which stresses the Mitzvot to love(obey) your Hashem YHVH with all your heart, Leb, Nephesh, Kardia and Nshamah(Soul) and Might or Resources- Gbuwrah- Valor, Force, Power, Strength The statement declares this plurality we keep seeing about YHVH and his son Yeshua, That plurality causes it to be impossible not to see Yeshua in the divinity of YHVH the word Echad in Hebrew implies a unity in diversity. The word for one and only one- unique is rendered as Yachid- For example in Exodus 26.6 which describes the various parts of the Tabernacle( Miskan) are to be constructed so that it shall be one( Echad) Tabernacle. The Shema requires concentration and consciousness, As i talked about how we should not be reciting prayers and following such religious duties out of traditional normality to the point that we forget each word and why we are saying it, We can be so used to doing things that we forget it's Kodesh- It's Holy and it actually loses it's Holiness and becomes formality, not based on relationship when that happens we are no different that the Tz'dukkim and Prushims, The Sadducee and Pharisees- Who wore long Tzitzit and religious uniforms and bright galore clothings to be seen. The fervent declaration of the unity or oneness of Hashem YHVH, over the course of the centuries, from the days of the sages on, as soon as a child began to speak he was taught to repeat daily with the utmost awe and reverence, the ringing Hebrew words of Shema until he knew them by heart. He continued to repeat them twice a day in his prayers through out all the days of his life. And the shema was his last conscious utterance as he lay dying, later this declaration was elaborated and became a fundamental part of the daily prayer liturgy service, both morning and night, however in the time of danger or at the point of death, the recitation of the first verse cited or even only it's first two Hebrew words- Shema Yisrael- have been considered sufficient by the Rabbis of Israel, Since in Jewish belief, the intention is what matters most. A illustration of this devotion to the shema is recorded in the Talmud concerning the death of Rabbi Akiva- who we as Messianic Jews don't really like, because he ended up serving Idolotry and worshiping a man whom he called Moshiach causing the first Century Yehudim B'Moshiachs to run to Pella, He caused lots of problems for the first century Messianic Believers- anyway- it shows a good account of Shema, So Rabbi Akiva who was the inspiration of the Bar Kochba revolt against the Romans when the rebellion had been crushed in 135 C.E. In a sea of blood, The romans put the sage to the torture. When his torments had become unbearable to shomayim and with all his remaining Strength cried out the shema- Hear O Israel. The Lord our Hashem, The Lord is Echad(One) And when he reached the word one(Echad) he stubbornly hung on to it lovingly continued to murmur it, refusing to let it go and died on it. Countless of Martyrs since then have repeated the Shema with traidtional fervor as they died at the enemies of Israel and the Jewish people. Yet curiously the Shema does not evoke any grim or desperate feelings in the believing Jew, But only the chedvah- Joy of dedication, This is triumphantly expressed in one of the morning prayers called: The Ashrei which states Happy are we! How goodly is our portion, how pleasant our lot and how beautiful our heritage! Happy are we who, early and late, morning and evening twice every day, declare Shema, In another prayer section called: The Musaf Amidah of Shabbat and holidays, when the Toray is taken out of the Ark on Shabbat and holidays. The commandment of saying Shema is fulfilled by reciting it in the Shacharit and Ma'ariv services. The Shema should be said more audibly than the Amidah since the Shema reaffirms the basic tenets of the Jewish faith, The Shema may be said while standing or sitting, The Jews of Israel use to stand and we still do to show the Shemas importance and Holiness and to demonstrate that saying Shema is an act of testifying in Hashem who he is and of course we have already proven that Yeshua himself said it for the same reasons suggested in this lesson. If a congregation doesnot recite the Shema, It is not Messianic period. Shema is the pillar of Judaism, including Messianic Judaism and must be recited by the leaders and the congregation- The Tefillah Shema Yisrael can be likened to a declaration of dependence to the creator of the universe. Talmud describes it as the vehicle with which to accept the Yoke of Shomayim, Rabbi Avigdor Miller pointed out that the word Shema- To hear is the word that was used at the moment of the original acceptance of Hashem and his Torah at Sinai when the Jewish people cried out ” Na'aseh Venishmah”- We will do and we will hear- As the Jewish forefathers declared 3300 years ago so do the Jews declare today “ Shema Yisrael” Our sages teach us that the original recitation of the phrase: Shema Yisrael Hashem Elokaynu Hashem Ehad dates back to our forefather Ya'akov. We are taught that at the close of Ya'akovs(Jacob) life he called all of his children to his bedside to say farewell and to reveal the destiny of the Jewish people, When he was unsuccessful sharing his visions and insights regarding the future of the Jewish people he grew despondent and concerned that perhaps his children were not true to Hashem YHVH of Israel. As that anxiety filled Ya'akov- Ya'akovs chidren recited the Shema in unison saying: Shema Yisrael Echad- This provided comfort and fulfillments to him at the closing moments of his life, that commentary is based in it's view on Genesis 49.29-33- But it is also backed up in the Brit Chadasha in Hebrew 11.21- Which states by trusting, Ya'akov when he was dying, blessed each of Yosefs sons, leaning on his walking stick as he bowed in prayer. Perhaps that prayer in those last minutes was the shema, thereafter verse 21. after he prayed, The scriptures doesn't say what he prayed- We assume we said the Shema, But what we know for a fact is that he states a few Torah events throughout the ending of the chapter, he quotes " Gen 47. 31/ Exodus 2.2./ Daniel 6.23/ Habukkuk 2.4 In conclusion: The definition of religiosity is. A weak superficial religious sentiment. So then something that is superficial is something being on a surface, shallow, not thorough or within,You know wearing Kippa, Tzitzit, Tillit,Tefillin Etc. isn't done to look religious, It should be done to show your obedience to Torah and your willful desire to obey YHVH out of Love, Our Love should declare our obedience, not religious wear, because Torah said to do so as far as Tzitzit, Tillit and Tefillin are concerned, Let us not become so religious, superficial that we forget why we do what we do and wear what we wear, not to be seen or to look holy, not to present a image that appears as Idolatry, but to show our allegiance under Torah. our desire to obey his word and to live for Yeshua. © Copyright 2009 Mind Changing Ministries Beit Yeshua All rights reserved. |

Why Messianic Halakha is needed -Part 6. By Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton { Remembrance of YHVH} 2/28/09 Http://sites.kindweb.com/mcmcongregation Script: Shemot- Exodus 13.1-22/ Devarim- Deut 6.1-25/ Mattithyahu- Matt 23.1-39- Tzit- Tzitot/ Misle- Prov 1.1-33/ Misle- Prov 3.1-35/ Misle 6.16-35/ ______________________________________ Shemot 13. verse 9-10 relates our subject matter being: Tefillin More over, it will serve you as a sign on your hand and as a reminder between your eyes, so that Hashem's Torah may be on your lips, because with a strong hand Hashem brought you out of Egypt. 10. Therefore you are to observe this regulation at it's proper time, year after year The text that i really want to deal with today is a major scripture misunderstanding for Messianic believers and that is Matthew 23. 1-39, I want to cover some of those verses- I looked at those verses from five of the messianic bibles that i have the word- comma " is the point of clarification let us read it from two main translations that i love, being The Complete Jewish Bible- The Orthodox Jewish Bible- the comma is there in every single translation that i am aware of- and the comma makes the difference in the explanation of the text even if there isn't a coomman seen it states But You-which indacates who he is talking to, Matthew 23. verse 1. Then Yeshua addressed the crowd and his talmidim ( who is he addressing- the crowd being the Scribes, Sadducee's and Pharisees ) so then this tells us who the message was addressed to verse 2. The Torah teachers and the Prushim( Pharisees) he said sit in the seat of Moshe(or your wanting to sit in the seat of Moshe-wanting Moshe's glory) verse 3. So whatsoever they tell you, take care to do it. But don't do what they do(what are they doing?) because they talk but don't act(There religious but not righteous) verse 4. They tie heavy loads (Man made works) onto people's shoulders (Talmud, Mishna, Gemera Etc.) but won't lift a finger to help carry them ( They won't help train the people so they understand) verse 5. Everything they do is done to be seen by others ( Religiosity) for they make their tefillin broad(Bigger, Noticeable )and their tzitziyot long( so every one can see them as somebody great and Religious) verse 6. they love the place of honor at banquets and the best seat in the synagogues ( They want to be in front of everyone so they can get glory and become worshiped as some great Rabbis) verse 7. and they love being greeted deferentially in the marketplaces and being called Rabbi( people idolize them, they have become gods) verse 8. But you are not to let yourselves be called Rabbi because you have one Rabbi, and you are all each other's brothers. ______________________________________ This is where the big hang up is all about with some congregation- reading verse 4-8 in The Orthodox Jewish Bible verse 4. And they tie up heavy extra biblical loads. Hard to bear, and they place them upon the shoulders of men, but they, with so much as a finger , are not willing to lift the oppressive burdens. Verse 5. And all their maasim hamitzvot (works of the commandments) they do in order to be seen by Bnai Adam, for they broaden their tefillin and lengthen their tzitziyot verse 6. and they love the places of honor at the seudot (banquet dinners), and the shuls, verse 7. And the[ obsequious] Birkat Shalom greetings in the market places, and to be called by Bnai Adam, Rebbe. Verse 8.But you are not to have pretentious titles like Rebbe,(comma) for One is your Rebbe, [ Rebbe Melech Ha'Mashiach], and all of you are Achim b. Moshiach.. Now does this mean that no one can be called a Rabbi or not? Some have taken this to mean just that, that the messianic congregation particularly can't have a Rabbi based on what Yeshua said there in Matthew 23. or is there something that some of you seem to be missing- You will notice that in most of your bibles after he said BUT YOU we saw a comma -which indicates who he was talking to- was he talking to everybody or somebody- I believe he was talking to somebody and he said who he was talking to mainly the Sadducee and the pharisees do you remember the crowd and then the talmidim or not? The comma after him saying that reflects something unmistakable what is it? He is talking to a specific group because of what they were doing , If it was intended that Rabbi which means Teacher not to be indicated then after Yeshua there would be no more biblical reference to that term or terms with it's same expressed meaning. A comma is 1.a mark of punctuation (,) used to indicate a slight separation of sentence elements, as in setting off nonrestrictive or parenthetical elements, items in a series, It identifies a certain idiom If there is no Rabbi, who then is the Teacher -The scripture say how can you hear without a preacher [teacher, rabbi] Romans 10.14- How therefore shall they call on him In whom they have not believed(Yeshua) And how shall they believe in him(Yeshua) of whom they have not heard?(How can they possibly hear or understand without a teacher- Impossible!) And how shall they hear(Shema- understand) without someone doing the hatafah (preaching) verse 15. And how shall they do the hatafah unless they have been sent(not called by themselves to start teaching people, not some cell group teaching-no a direct called Rabbi of YHVH) As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who preach Besuras HaGeulah " Yeshayah 52.7 So a bunch of people getting together trying to study Torah, is like a cow thinking it's a chicken, There direction will be limited, because it is clear throughout the scriptures that YHVH has called a man to lead the people- not just anybody, a person well trained, committed, who has a deep relationship with YHVH, a person who has been in the walk for many years, trained by other leaders and credentialed to approve that persons calling. Here is more Brit Chadasha scriptures to prove this- 1 Tim 2.verse 7. And for this edut(appointment, calling) I was given the smichah(ordination) of Hashem as a karoz(herald) a maggid(darshan-Preacher-Rabbi) For Mashiach, a shliach( Moshiachs emissary) I speak Emes, I do not sheker and a [rabbinic] moreh (teacher) For the nations in emunah and Emes do you mean that Rabbi Shaul and Timothy were Rabbis -Yes- 1 Timothy chapter 1. the first verse states that he was a Rabbi or in other translations an apostle, If what Yeshua stated in Matthew 23, pertained to everybody then to this day Rabbi Shaul would not be called Rabbi, What people fail to realize is that Yeshua was talking about people who call themselves Rabbi to become another Moshiach, who receive the worship of men, who take a title and positions to be glorified and exonerated and lifted up and made into an human Idol like Chabads false messiah Sneerson, More proof 1 Corinthians 12. 28-29- And Hashem placed in the Messianic Congregation first Apostles(Rishon) second prophets(shlichim) third teachers(neviim, rabbi) then works of power, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues(Hebrew first) The Orthodox Jewish Bible- Then those of cholel nifla'aot(accomplishing miracles) then matanot harippuy (gifts of healing) then matanot of helps, then manhigut ruchanit 9spiritual leadership, administration, kinds of leshonot. 29. Surely not all are shlichim surely not all all are nevi'im? Surely not all are rabbinical morim? Surely not all are those cholel nifa'ot (accomplishing miralces) So then how is it, that you can dismiss all these factual leadership positions in the congregation, but the first listing was a Rabbi whom some call Apostle. In conclusion of dealing with Matthew 23. Some of you just misunderstood the text, when there is a man who replaces Yeshua, then don't call him a Rabbi- simply as that! It does not mean that someone can't be called a Rabbi- Teacher, We have been taught by people with either limited understanding or one who did not research the whole sum of the text to see what and to whom Yeshua was talking to Now with the lesson: Messianic Jewish Halakha seeks to maintain as much commonality with our people through Halakha which comes from the Hebrew word to mean- to walk, It is a term used for rules and rulings that govern Jewish life. It is a term used to convey who we as Jews are following. In this lesson we will cover of the twenty five Messianic Halakha listings we will cover the Halakha importance of Tefillin. So then at this sixth session we have covered 1. Overview 2.Milah 3. Mikvah 4. Tefillah 5. Shema and the 6th for today being Tefillin. Keep in mind the word we have been using in some of the lesson being Halakha Shel Ha'Derech meaning the walk of the or this way, specifically how we are to walk according to Torah, Tanakh and Brit Chadasha after the inward man to please Yeshua. Not to mention that the word Mitzvot stands for Law/ Torah/ Instruction and Halakha for Teaching/ Application. Listed under book two, under the five direct laws termed as Tefillin, Mezuza and Sefer Torah it states a direct commandment from YHVH not to be worn based on traditional religious observances or Jewish thought but to be worn because YHVH said so, so then it isn't a suggestion, It reads 1.To wear tefillin on the head- Dvarim 6.8 2.To bind(acar-fasten/chabash- to wrap firmly/anad-to lace) tefillin on the arm- Dvarim 6.8 3.To put a Mezuzah on each door- Dvarim 6.9 4.Each male must write a Sefer Torah- Dvarim 31.19 5.The king must have a separate Sefer Torah for himself- Dvarim 17.18 Tefillin is also called from a Greek tongue phylacteries, are a pair of black leather boxes containing scroll of parchment inscribed with biblical verses I'll discuss later. The Rabbbinic sage Eliezer related that when the Israelites came before Hashem and complained to him, we are eager to occupy ourselves night and day with the study of Torah, but alas! We cannot find the leisure time for it. Hashem replied to them perform the mitzvah concerning tefillin and i will consider that as if you had been studying the Torah night and day, There was even an ancient Jewish saying- Hashem too, wears tefillin. Hashem keeps his own word at his mind and in his heart, The obligation suggested for every male Jew to wear tefillin and was stated in the commandment? Mitzvah: And it shall be a sign unto thee upon thy hand, and for a memorial between they eyes that the Torah of Adonai may be in thy mouth- Shemot 13.9 The observing Jew for countless generations in performing the daily rite of putting on tefillin every time he recited his morning prayers and was helped to remain permanently conscious of his duties and his Jewish group identity. The tefillin were for him a symbol of his personal dedication to Hashem and to the Torah, In the optimistic words of the 12th century rabbi-philosopher Maimonides: the sanctity of the tefillin is very great. As long as they are on the head and on the arm of a man. He is modest and Hashem fearing and will not be distracted by merry making or idle talk, He will have no evil thoughts, but will devote all his thinking to truth and righteousness. Tefillin are two individual boxes or cubes whose dimensions usually are two or three inches square, Inside each are deposited passages in Hebrew of the Torah- Ex 13.1-10/ Ex 11.16/ Deut 6.4-7/ Deut 11/13-21 The Tefillin themselves are made of black leather, one is designed for the head, the other for the left hand, they are held in place by means of leather loops, knots and long straps, on the hand the shin is shows. The spiritual significance is they carry ad advanced level of thinking- The tefillin the word itself is singular and plural word on the head strapped around the fore arm, so that suggestively it may rest next to the brain, the one on the left arm rest in a position closest to the heart. This arrangement for the wearing of the frontlets, the Talmud teaches that it signifies that the Jew when he worshiped Hashem did so with all his heart and with all his thoughts. The wearing of tefillin is obligatory for all orthodox male Jews from the time they become Bar Mitzvah at thirteen, they put them on before commencing the recitation of the morning prayers each day except on Shabbat/Shaboos and festivals, by themselves the holy days constitute signs, symbols and religious identity already, consequently the wearing of tefillin on them is considered superfluous. Talmudic laws which are based on oral tradition as well on later practices and rabbinic views with regard to tefillin are very numerous . The 16th century ritual code, The Shulcan Aruch, list 160 laws that relate to every aspect of the physical make up tefillin, the ritual procedures and the order of putting them on and taking them off. They provide for all the exigencies than might possibly govern under any condition the wearing of tefillin,What this means is that a competent and Hashem fearing scribe(Sofer) is to write the four biblical excerpts which are encased in the cubes, the sofer who prepares the parchment text has to submit to a calligraphic as a well as religious discipline, that is as rigorous as that prescribed for copying a Torah scroll, in addition the tefillin and the straps which hold them in place can be made only from the skin of an animal considered ritually clean , The sewing on each tefillin is limited to twelve stitches and must be done with thread made of the dried veins of a clean animal. The edges of the case are not to be scuffed nor can the outside layers of leather show any signs of peeling or separation, there are rigid rules for the worshiper, tradition requires that he does so while standing as a mark of reverence. The tefillin on the head comes first, to me it resembles how Yeshua is the head of the body- the exact period when the wearing of tefillin originated is not known, although the Jewish historian Josephus writing in the first century referred to the rite as one that was already ancient in his time. Tefillin means to remember , remember YHVH'S Torah, his promises and the brit between us and him. The tefillin is four compartments, the parchment is cited as Tefilin Shel Yad in the hand and Tefillin Shel Rosh on the head, These compartments are called: Batim and the biblical passages inserted are mentioned as Kadesh(sanctify to me) Exodus 13.1-10 V'haya Ki Y'Viacha( And when he brings you) Exodus 13.11-16 Shema(Hear O Israel ) Deut 6.4-9 V'haya Im Shamo'a( And if you hearken) Deut 11.13-21 ______________________________________________________ On the tefillin represent two types of shin- the three headed shin symbolizing the patriarchs Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya'akov The four headed shin symbolizes the four matriarchs Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel and Leah the merits of the patriarchs is on the right and the merit of the matriarchs on the left, The numerical value of the shin is 300 twice 300= 600 the two shins together form the word- Shesh- which means six(= 6, thus giving us 606. when we add the seven heads of the two shins, we reach the number 613 -the number of Mitzvot in Torah. When we lay tefillin we thus remember that we desire to fulfill all 613 Mitzvahs. Tefillin symbolizes the eternal bond between Israel and our abba in shomayim, Also Tefillin when it is referred to phylacteries this stems from the ancient Greek " Phylakterion- which means safeguard, apparently the Greeks misunderstood the tefillin to be some sort of amulet or charm, actually tefillin serves not as a superstition but as a bona fide connection to Hashem, The very word Mitzvah meand to bind, as such every mitzvah is an act of ahavah that binds us to Hashem. But tefillin is the paradigm Mitzvah, in that we literally bind ourselves to the will of Hashem, tefillin represents a total dedication and union with YHVH,Tefillin has a tremendous power to connect spiritually; remarkably The Chinese Journal of Medicine claims that the contact points of tefillin are exactly those points at which acupuncture needles are inserted in order to increase spirituality and to purify thought. Throughout Jewish history and more recently in the Holocaust, many Jews risked their lives for the sake of tefillin- Rabbi Joshua Aronsohn in the Holocaust and Halakha describes how tefillin were put on in Auschwitz stated: When we arose in the darkness of the night, we had just managed to wash, the block leaders and their helpers were hurrying us along to the forced labor details. There were long queues of prisoners waiting in line, not for bread or coffee, but to fulfill the Mitzvah of Tefillin. We appointed a special guard whose job it was to make sure that no one kept the tefillin on for longer than it took him to say the one verse SHEMA YISRAEL-so that more would be able to fulfill mitzvah. The tefillin is the epitome of closeness to Hashem, the true strength of the Jewish people. In referring to tefillin the Torah says: The peoples of the earth will see that Hashem's name is called upon you, and they shall be awed by you- Dvarim 28.10 There are five main parts of tefillin they are 1.Parshiot- The parchments 2.Bayit- The box containing the parchments 3.Titurah- The wider base of the bayit 4.Ma'abarta-The opening of the base which the strap goes through 5.Ritzv'ah- The strap( plural- ritzv'ot) In conclusion there are 1594 letters in each of the tefillin, if one letter is extra or missing it renders the tefillin as invalid. ______________________________________ Al' Ahavat HaTorah Ve Geulat Nefesh Hador On the love of Torah and redemption of the souls of our generation ___________________________________________________ 2/28/09 For our readers, mispochah and new E-Training members Shalom readers i have received a few emails stated that either they missed one of the Halakha lessons and where to find them or if it could be resent to them, I want to convey that if you missed an email E-Training News Letter don't worry about it, it's no problem after i complete the news letters i send a copy in my news letter blog at www.aeonity.com/kingdom there you can always see the latest news letters plus all the back file news letters is in there also, and of course you can print them all out and read them when time avails , I want to thank each and every one of you that allows me to bombard your emails with the weekly lesson which i teach on Shabbat and the series we are covering which i get to share with you, I get no greater joy than to receive emails from people like you mentioning to me about the news letters or something in regard to Messianic Judaism, for me coming from my background i am delighted and really enjoy studying and typing these lessons, It is also a stress reliever for me,plus it isn't my word or our ideals it is YHVH'S word and he gives us understanding where we lack and to be quite frank- opening the bible i see and learn new things all the time that i did not know, perhaps you could be helpful to us - Mind Changing Ministries Beit Yeshua, if you know of anyone especially some one of the Christian background who need to learn the truth- do us a big favor ask them if you could submit there email address to us, we would love to send them some information and teachings especially the two part series we did called Messianic verse Christianity and i would like to get that out to them via the net- If you get there permission- messianic believers also- submit it to mindchangingministries@minister.com they will receive the following weeks news letter and the link to get caught up at the blog site, once again Toda Raba Sincerely Rabbi Aminadav Ben Avraham Hinton © Copyright 2009 Mind Changing Ministries Beit Yeshua All rights reserved. |
