Dvar Tefilot-Words about prayers

Script:
Dvarim 12.1-31/ Dvarim 13. 1-18/ Micah or Michoh 5.2-15/
Yeshayah 5.2-15/ Yeshayah 65.1-25

Mitzvot is Law/Torah & Halakha is Teaching, Application, Halakha comes from the Hebrew word to mean- To walk, This way, This path, It is a term for rules and rulings that govern Jewish life. In this lesson we will cover of the 25 Messianic Halakha listings we will cover the Halakha importance of Amidah so then we have covered thus far 1. Overview 2. Milah 3. Mikvah 4. Tefillah 5. Sh'ma 6. Tefillin and the 7th Amidah for today-

Looking at Dvarim(Deuteronomy) chapter 12. 1-9

These are the chukkim( Laws) and mishpatim (Rules) over which ye shall be shomer to do in ha'aretz; which Hashem Elohei Avoitecha giveth thee to possess it, kol hayamim that ye live upon ha'adamah 2. You shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the Goyim which you shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree.

OK it is interesting that Yah clearly spoke of his promises he would give to Bnai Yisrael if they would obey his Torah, his regulations and guard them in there hearts or conceal them in there being and they would posses the promise but when you go among these nations don't pick up there idolatry- We continue to see in scriptures about these groves, trees, bushes -do you no why? Because these pagans used the trees as apart of there sacrificial offerings to there gods- Jeremiah 10 is a huge chapter on that ordeal such as it states not to be apart of these pagans Christmas(Christ- Mass) observances- well the history reveals the pagans used the groves or nature itself as an ordeal of worship and veneration not to mention, there were certain trees they worshiped as gods and other trees they would sacrifice and hang there babies on and murder them to honor those gods, so YHVH warns them to stay away from the trees, the groves, the bushes- because the trees were stained with the blood of innocent babies and stained with animals blood as object of there sacrificial worship to these gods.

Vs 3. And ye shall overthrow their mizbechot,(Altars) and break their matzeivot( Pillars) and burn their Asherim(Sacred Poles-note these poles like the Indian totem poles have the faces of there gods on them) with eish and you shall hew down peselim of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place. 4. You shall not do so unto Hashem Eloheichem 5.But unto the place which Hashem eloheichem shall choose out of all your shevatim to put Shmo there(His name there) even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither shalt come 6. And thither ye shall bring your olot, and your zevahhim and your ma'aseros (tithes) and terumot (heave offerings) of your hand and your nedarim (vows) and your nedavot (free will offerings) and the bekhorot (firslings) of your herds and of your flocks 7. And there ye shall eat before Hashem Eloheichem and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein Hashem Eloheicha hath blessed thee. 8.Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here today. Ish kokmhayashar be'einav (every man what soever is right in his own eyes) 9.For ye are not as yet come to the menuchah (resting place) and to the nachalah giveth you.

Let's began our lesson for today:

The Amidah- Tefilat Ha'Amidah-
The standing prayer is also called the shmona esrei -the eighteen blessings- Amida means standing, it is said while standing, the prayer is about 2400 years old, it is considered one of the most important prayers on account of it's antiquity. This prayer contain 1. Praise-barak 2.Confession-yadah 3. Petition-bauw 4.Thanks or Gratitude-towdah,yadah,charis personalizing the Amida is critical in importance, the sages of old wrestled with the problem of Keva( Fixedness in worship) The Mishnah says- Do not make the Amidah a keva (Appointed Routine) The Amidah blesses YHVH for his place in Judaism, The Amidah is the central prayer of all four services.
1.Shacharit( Mourning Prayers) 2. Mincha (Afternoon) 3. Maariv (Evening Prayer) 4. Mussaf (Additional on Shabbat) The Amidah should be prayed three times a day, which was established by Ezra and codified in the Talmud (Bereakhot 26. b) is fulfilled by reciting Amidah. Every Jew recited the same Amidah, yet everyone needs different things from YHVH, So we do recite the Amidah for various reasons some for health, wealth, freedom, peace, the various areas of ones personal needs through there daven tefillah according to ones own personal prayer, not to mention:

When you daven ha'tefillah we can recite the prayers and that's good but i like to mention it is still ok to have your own prayers to YHVH, which aren't already prescribed- I recommend reciting the prayers and thereafter going before YHVH with your own individual or corporate or interceding prayers for the needs of your family and loved ones to come into the knowledge of Yeshua or the tefillah which comes in your heart, Like i teach give room for The Ruach Hokodesh- we can be so stringent in our traditions that the Holy Spirit doesn't have room to do something different- perhaps YHVH wants to give you new prayers and new songs(Always give room for the holy spirit to come through) Please note The Shabbat Amidah is different, This Ha'Tefillah or prayer of Judaism is recited while standing and facing the Aron Kodesh
( The ark that houses the Torah scroll) next to the Sh'ma the Amidah is the most widely recited Hebrew in the world. Shemoneh Esrei literally means eighteen, originally the eighteen blessings were divided into three general types and they still should be

1.Praise- Three Blessings- Avot- Gevurot- Kedushat Hashem
2.Petitions(Which includes confession)- Thirteen Blessings

Da'at, Teshuvah, Selichah, Ge'ulah, Refu'ah, Birkat Hashanim,Kibbutz Galuyot, Birkat HaDin
Birkat HaMinim, Tsaddikim, Binyah Yerushalayim, Malkhut Bet Dovid & Kabbalat Tefillah.

3.Thanks-Three Blessings -Avodah- Hoda'ah- Sim Shalom
{ We will cover these in greater details soon}

Notice that this adds up to nineteen ,not eighteen. The reason for this was that an additional blessings was later added, but the name Shemoneh Esrei was retained. For this reason it is more straightforward to refer to the shemoneh esrei as the Amidah(Standing-Amad) or the Tefillah(The prayers) after reciting all of these berachot, there is a concluding prayer said for the entire ceremony, There are two versions basically of Amidah

The week day version- which includes all 19 blessings of praise, petition, thanksgiving to Hashem 2. The Shabbat and Holiday version which are abbreviated to just seven blessings . Most Jews when reciting the Amidah after facing toward the Aron Kodesh take three steps backward and then three steps forward before quietly reciting Amidah. Whenever there is a Minyah (group of ten) present, the Amidah can be repeated aloud (By the cantor) in the synagogue and the congregation responds only Amen after each blessing has been recited.

The blessings are categorized in three sections

Part 1. blessings of praise
1.Blessing one- Avot(Fathers)
2.Blessing two- Gevurot(Hashems might)
3.Blessing three-Kedushat Hashem( Holiness of YHVH'S name)

Part 2. blessing of petition
1.Blessing four-Da'at(Knowledge)
2.Blessing five- Teshuvah(Repentance)
3.Blessing six -Selichah(Forgiveness)
4. Blessing seven- Geulah(Redemption)
5.Blessing eight- Refuah(Healing)
6.Blessing nine- Birkat Hashanim (Prosperity)
7.Blessing ten-Kibbutz Galuyot (Ingathering of Exiles)
8.Blessing eleven- Birkat HaDin(Restoration of Justice)
9.Blessing twelve- Birkat HaMinim (Against Heretics )

My Rabbi said these Jews who do this prayer do it against us Messianic- calling us heretics, However in my opinion the prayer should be against those who are false prophets calling people to make men into Moshiachs)

10. Blessing thirteen- Tsaddikim( Righteous ones)
11. Blessing fourteen-Binyan Yerushalayim ( Rebuilding of Jerusalem)
12. Blessing fifteen-Malkhut Beit David ( Kingdom of David)
13. Blessing Sixteen- Kabbalat Tefillah (Acceptance of prayer)

Part 3. Blessings of Thanks or Gratitude

14. Blessing seventeen- Avodah (Worship)
15. Blessing eighteen- Hoda'ah (Gratitudes)
16. Blessing nineteen- Sim Shalom (Grant Peace)

The Shemoneh Esreh is the name by which the Ashkenazim refer to this prayer, The Sefaradim call it Amidah- Yeshua taught his talmidim the tefillah titled as T'filat HaTalmidim which apparently is an abbreviated version of Amidah, however it would have been well known to Yeshua as it was known to the Jews some two hundred years before Yeshua.

A Rabbi Eliezer- taught this same abbreviation that Yeshua taught stating:
May your will be done in Heaven above, grant peace of mind to those who fear you on earth below and do what seems best to you, Blessed are , O Lord. Who answers prayer “note the phrases” Your will be done in heaven above and on earth below as in the lord's prayer which is really called: T'filat Ha'Talmidim- Also note the parallel between grant peace of mind in the prayer Eliezer taught and deliver us from evil in the prayer yeshua taught, You would be surprised to know that many Jews who aren't Messianic outwardly know the teachings of Yeshua and many have secretly read the Brit Chadasha and have accepted him in there hearts but no one knows it and they live the orthodox life, but in the chambers of there own homes they acknowledge Yeshua Ben Yosef as Yeshua Ben YHVH as Yeshua Ha'Mashiach- conclusively as the only Mashiach, There has been accounts of Jews who accepted Yeshua and know one knew about it until they died, so let us not underestimate the Jews who say they don't follow him who secretly do- especially in Israel, who are afraid of being unaccepted or ridiculed or even disowned- Sha'lu Shalom Yerushalayim especially for our Secret Society of Messianic Jews.

The Amidah is recited by the Jew more than one thousand times a year, does a good praying Jew always receive guaranteed positive response to there prayers? Absolutely not!
The story is told of the unsuccessful merchant who after repeated prayers, approached Rabbi Elimelech and demanded to know why Hashem did not and does not answer his prayers. The Rabbi replied! Hashem has answered your prayer. The answer is NO
we framework in our minds how Hashem is going to answer our prayers, instead of giving him room to teach us we make his mind up for him and when he doesn't respond to our condition then he isn't answering our prayers, we all do it!! he wont have an answer opposite of his word. His answer doesn't reflect flesh, it reflects faith and his permissive will, I like that little story so much because it causes us to look at our selves and make sure we fit the requirements of Tefillah and those requirements you can find in lesson 4. we covered that before, basically you have to acknowledge his will over yours, you have to make certain that you are clean before him and that you are coming before him correctly in reverence and holiness.

There is a legal code which in our Judicial system uses Amidah believe it or not !
Amidah again means to stand, or standing and in our judicial system the word standing means law, In the common law and under many statues standing or Locus Standi(Latin) is the ability of a party to demonstrate to the court sufficient connection to and harm from the law or action challenged to support that party's participation in that case. In the united states for an example. A person cannot bring a suit challenging the constitutionality of a law unless the plaintiff can demonstrate that the plaintiff is or will imminently be harmed by the law. Otherwise the court will rule that the plaintiff lacks standing to bring the suit, and will dismiss the case without considering the merits of the claim of unconstitutionality. Interesting enough is that the laws of the world's system and i mean the whole world was created by YHVH for a small group he called Bnai Yisrael of the Jew and these Judaic system laws or Torah of Mitzvah which in this case is Amidah can be seen in these laws of the land, but how they react and legislate these laws has left it's place in Torah. For liberalism and humanistic rights.
