Finals are approaching...

Well, it's true, finals are slowing creeping up on me...and it's scaring me! I don't care how many semesters I've been through, the fact that I'm a junior, or if my classes are easy or hard; finals suck ass so much! I'm not looking forward to them, the only thing I'm looking forward to right now is the end of the semester, it's been a long time coming. I'm taking summer courses and getting a summer job so I won't exactly be relaxing any more than I am now, but the way I look at it, at least I'll be home with old friends and my family! I miss everyone so much, it's crazy! But anyhoo...
Yeah I'm totally jealous of my parents right now, they are in Hawaii for a week for their anniversary! But, I gotta admit that they deserve a nice vacation because they work hard all the time...but I do too! Hehe So...anyhoo...yeah I've run out of stuff to type so I'm just gonna jet...

Spring break was awesome!

Wow, spring break was soo 2 weeks ago and I'm barely getting the chance to rant and rave about it...just goes to show ya that it needs to be 2 weeks long and profs need to stop pretending it doesn't exist; I swear, I had so many readings to do over spring break that I (obviously) avoided and I KNOW I wasn't alone in doing that! :) So yeah it's been kinda hectic since my return to good ol' Austin. Spring break was a most welcome time of fun...spent time with friends from other colleges that I don't get to see as often as I'd like, we rented a condo on the beach and had a blast. Wish it coulda lasted longer! Anyhoo, countdown to summer has begun!!
Wow, Easter is coming up so I guess I'll be going back to ol' OG for that weekend. I seriously can't wait till this semester is over though...but I guess the summer isn't going to be too much of a "break" for me cause I'll be taking summer courses at Coastal Bend (MUCH cheaper than UT...WOOHOO!) and (crossing my fingers) will have a job. Still, the time spent with la familia and my OG pals will be much appreciated, that's for certain. OH and on top of that, I'm in the process of making plans for 2, count 'em 2, backelorette parties and bridal showers cause 2 of my gal pals are getting hitched! I'm a MOH in one of them and a bridesmaid in the other and due to MOH duties I obviously gotta plan those bridal shindigs and on the request of the other wedding's MOH, I'll be helping her plan those...I'm gonna be a busy gal for sure! I can't believe they are getting married so young! Well, at least in my opinion it's a young age, but wait, my mother got married at the age of 20 too so I guess that means that if I was my mother right now TECHNICALLY I'd be married right now...OMG that's craziness! I need to get on the ball and meet a guy so I won't be the poster gal for that ol' saying "always the bridesmaid, never the bride!" Any takers? J/J!!
Well, I better jet cause I have a class to head to, till next time!

Spring Break is soo close!

Hey all! Well looky here...spring break is near, so near in fact that I can literally hear it creeping up on me! I love that! Being able to count down to something exciting so when you are down in the dumps you can just say "Ok, just 3 days till spring break" or something to that effect. Believe me, I've been saying that for a while, tests and homework and studying have really been consuming a lot of my time lately. I am really looking forward to next week; a week of bliss, relaxation, fun-in-the-sun, and no thinking about deadlines or tests! But, this week of course has been putt-putting at the rate of an old clunker bought from a shady used car salesman. And, to no surprise of course, next week will fly by so fast I'll have blinked once and it'll already be Friday!
Anyhoo, besides classes, I got the chance to watch The Passion of The Christ! OMG I mean this movie was simply amazing. There are not enough words to describe how great this movie was (and I'm a film major!) Mel Gibson did a wonderful job of depicting this ever-controversial story of Jesus Christ and does so in such a beautiful manner that it moved me to tears...running down my cheeks...like a baby. That's right folks, this is indeed one of the most emotional films I've ever seen, and I'm not talking one of those how-sweet-they-love-eachother-after-all kinda emotions. Oh yeah, it's also one of the most violent movies I've ever (and probably you too) seen; it is very bloody and graphic, but nothing that I think wasn't necessary, Mel wanted people to see how much pain JC had to go through for our sins...oh yeah I just said OUR sins, not JEWISH people's sins, EVERY person's sins. Obviously, this controversy about anti-semitism has ticked me off.
I know that people might get mad or whatever but everyone is entitled to their opinions, I've listened to others' opinions and they've graciously listened to mine as well; I think that people who call this movie anti-semitic and CLAIM that it will bring hatred towards Jews just wants something to complain about...I mean c'mon, you don't see blacks complaining about every movie depicting them as slaves, or mexicans complaining every time they are depicted as immigrant alcoholics, etc. etc. etc! They are clearly not seeing the movie for what it is, but now that I'm done expressing my opinion, I am a very open person and if you disagree I would love to hear from you, I like to hear different opinions from different points of view!
Anyhoo, I'll stop here because I have an astronomy exam tomorrow so I better start studying or whatever. Until next time!

Endless work...

Well, ok since my last blog I've finished that stuff and have embarked on the next blob of work that I must do. The RTF essay was a complete success (A+ and a compliment from professor!) so that was worth it...I always seem to do good on essays when I write them at the last second, strange but true. Speaking of essays, I'm in the process of finishing (or starting rather) an essay for my British Lit. class...it is about Shakespeare's King Henry IV. MUCH easier to read than Chaucer's work but still a little confusing nonetheless. Just took my first Astronomy test of the semester today...boy, that sucked balls. I think I did alright though, but I feel I could've done better but I guess I'll find out how I did when the grades get posted. So, I guess I'm cruising along better than I thought I'd be this semester, I just wish I could say it was easy...eh, who am I kidding? I knew this would be hard!
I kinda just realized that every time I come to type a blog, my train of thought, and thus my topic, is always about homework, assignments, and classes! OMG this is gonna be me for at least the next 2 years (or at least that's when I'm hoping to graduate!)! Notwithstanding the fact that on the weekends I party hard and act like there isn't a care in the world (when in fact I have a test or a paper due). Wow, I'm that typical college student, overwhelmed with work and yet, when the opportunity arrives to have a good time and forget my worries I jump at the opportunity.
In the end though, I think I'm handling the situation well, I haven't failed a class yet and my GPA is fine. Not to say there aren't sacrifices...lack of sleep for one. Eh, I can get sleep during the summer, right? hehe
Well, maybe next time I'll think of a topic that is the slightest bit of interesting and doesn't involve school, or maybe not...time will tell ;)

College is hard work!

Well geez. Only the second week of classes and I'm already behind...by more than a few chapters! I'm starting to think that my combination of classes isn't quite compatible. That's right, my schedule is too hard and I'm kind of a lazy person. Let's see, where to begin...ok, in spanish I had an oral presentation on Monday and I have a vocabulary quiz tomorrow; in british lit. we are reading Chaucer's The Wife of Bath and I've read most of it (yay for me!) BUT I don't really understand all that medieval english shit (Experience, though noon auctoritee were in this world, is right ynough for me...); in astronomy we are currently learning about the great minds of Copernicus, Kepler, Newton, and Einstein, but I haven't quite gotten around to reading chapters 1-4; oh, and last but not least, the only class I'm not really behind in...History of Narrative Film! This class is great, we've watched innovative classics such as Birth of A Nation, Trip to the Moon, The Great Train Robbery, and countless of Edison's nickelodeons...but, I have to write a 2 page essay that I've started, but haven't finished...eh, it's not due until February 6th and being the procrastinator that I am, it will probably not be finished until the night of February 5th. It's true, although I'm already behind in most of the classes, I do take the blame because I know that I do this to myself...it just sucks knowing that I can't blame someone else. Wow, look at how much I've typed already! Oh my gosh! Look at the time, I have to study for a spanish vocabulary test, read 4 chapters for astronomy, finish reading The Wife of Bath and finish writing my RTF essay...I gotta go!

My first blog

Well, this is my first blog and I have absolutely no idea what to type. But, this looks like it's cool...good thinking David. I guess as a preview to future blogs, I'll just say that my interests lie mainly in the music/movies area. I'm very much into entertainment, and hey, I guess it's obvious considering my major is Radio-Television-Film! Anyhoo, I'll write a better blog later!
