ABC has recently made some of the networks' shows available for streaming online. Previously ABC had its shows on the iTunes Music Store in the Video Section for $1.99 per episode. Now you can watch an ad-supported version completely free online. They ads come on much less frequent than commercials on television. The shows available are Lost, Alias, Desperate Housewives and Commander In Chief. ABC is getting them up pretty quickly as well. Last night's airing of Desperate Housewives is now available to view online. Hopefully several other networks will follow, and it would also be cool if ABC would put up other shows like one of my faves on one of the only shows I actualy watch on TV, Grey's Anatomy. I just recently bought some new hardware for my PowerMac G4. When I bought my mac, it came with a hard drive with very little space. Theres enough for day-to-day things, but I needed another hard drive for my weekly backups and to store torrents and any video editing work.I went to MacMall.com and looked for something that suited my needs and decided to go with the Fantom 250gb External Firewire HD.
I had also been wanting to buy another stick of ram since I've been doing a lot of audio and video editing recently. I got the computer at under 512mb. It is now over 700mb and I plan on buying another 512mb stick in a few weeks to get it over 1 gig. The 256mb I just recently bought was from Crucial. Crucial is great and a fool proof way of getting the exact ram modules you need. About a month ago, I purchased an iSight webcam from MacMall. Out of all webcams I have tried, this one has been the one with the best video quality, and it should be at $149.With the iSight, I plan to continue something I started last year when I was videoblogging, so look for a videoblog sometime soon, allthough I may get an audioblog out first. The iSight has been great for chatting over iChat. In fact when my cable went out for a few weeks, my friend Jeff would use his iSight and point it to his tv so I could watch Spurs games. |

I've told most of my friends and family about Skype, but only a handful of them have signed up for accounts. I've also used Skype and another voip client, Gizmo Project, for meeting the guys i do the Spurscast with in a conference room for recording since we are all in different locations. My pitch about Skype is usually how you can make free calls without wasting cellphone minutes, as long as you have Skype, a mic and speakers. When I moved into my house, I decided against getting a landline, thinking I could make most phone calls with my cellphone and "Skyping" anyone who had downloaded and uses it (not many) or I could use the Skype-out feature for calling landlines and cellphones at a decent rate. I just read a few days ago that you can now Skype-out to the US and Canada to landlines and cells completely free until the end of 2006. This comes at a perfect time, especially since I get more dropped calls at home than ever before. That is especially frustrating when you are on the line with the cable company and almost get through to a real person and the call is dropped. Skype is a free download, and is cross-platform. Like I said earlier in the post, all you need is a computer mic (starting around $8-$10) and speakers or headphones and you are set. If you want to give Skype a try, you can call me at my username, mad0214. Link |
