Hi All!
Just a quick update to let you know why I've not been on much. I have a job interview today! It's a second round interview for a Private Health system, which means I did ace at the first one on Friday.
It's in an inbound call centre, which I can definitely deal with, and work starts on Monday, temporary with veiw to permanency, $19.50 ph with Super. I'm not sure if the $19.50 is plus super, or including super, but I'm not complaining either way. I've never had a job that pays me this much before.
The interview is actually with Medibank this time, instead of just with the recruitment company, and it includes a PSYCHIATRIC ASSESMENT!
LOL, I guess it's to check that I won't totally lose my cool with difficult customers, or stalk them or something. Either that or if they ring up ot tell me thier significant other has died I won't burst into laughter.
Either way, I'm looking forward to it. I should do well, as the other part is a group activity, mostly to see how I get on with people. I think it means I've basically got the job already, they're just double-checking that I'm not too agressive and shout in people's faces, and also that I'm not a total doormat, that I put in and use initiative, and let others have their say too. It's also to check group dynamics, to roster effective shifts apprently.
I get to meet the people I'll be working with for the test beforehand too, which is great, means I won't totally pull into my shell, like I tend to do first time meeting new people.
It can't be a harder job than my last place, at least the people need to call me for this instead of me harassing them! I also get to help them with choosing the best option for them, which aparently is something I am good at.
Full training is also provided, which - unlike my last job - means I won't have to totally wing it. That really pissed me off. Given a sheet with the script, half an hour to think through it, and listen to other callers do their bit, and then stuck on the phones.
And as I mentioned before, the customers will want, or at least need to speak with me.
The interview on Friday was pretty basic too. Just a typing speed test. (I clocked nearly double their requested speed, 30wpm, I did 58 with 95% Accuracy!) and a test on how well I know Microsoft Word and Outlook. I did pretty well (75% and 80% respectively) considering that it was a version of Word I have never seen/used before, I think it was ME or NT. And I've only previously used O'Look Express. Outlook has a whole calendar/diary function as well as the Email, and is used in networks/offices for planning meetings etc. Express is only an email service.
There was a Role Play on Friday too, actually on the phone, using a mock-up of the database I will be using. I did pretty well, seeing as I was using the database for the first time too. I only made on mistake, and that is something I will be trained for anyhow. It's not a big deal, and they were very happy with how I went as it was.
Anyways, I have to leave in just over half an hour, and although I'm already dressed, I want to grab some food and do a few other things before I go.
I'll let you know how it goes when I hear from them!
