Seven longings Jul 6th, 2006 2:27:35 am - Subscribe

A while back I wrote that people want three things, regard, interaction, and help.

My sister in law went to see a famous speaker named Mike Bickle. He figures that people want seven things, only he didn't call them wants, he called them longings of the human heart. Cassandra told me, and now I'm relating it to you in my own words, so hopefully his meaning won't be mangled too badly: He said that people screw it up in two ways. One is that they deny the longing and bury it / destroy it, and the other is that they pursue vehicles for fulfilling their longings that were never capable of being what we need them to be.

The seven longings related to me by Cassandra are:

1. To be enjoyed
2. To be fascinated / entertained
3. To be beautiful
4. To have Greatness
5. To have intimacy
6. To have significance
7. To have whole-heartedness (I think this means to be gung-ho, not of two minds, in the paths we pursue- to be completely committed, convinced, in the programs we carry out... )

I was very interested in what Cassandra had to say. Mike Bickle preaches on learning the LOVE of the Lord more. He claims that passionately pursued, knowledge of the Lord cannot be a hair or a shadow near boring, but instead; fulfills all the longings which are hardwired into us; and that these very desires were placed in us to bring us to pursue a fuller understanding of God, and relationship with God.

SO...
is God simply the best thing that can be, and we pursue him day and night because there is nothing better,
or is he an entity, capable of... capable of...
you know...

regarding us
interacting with us
and helping us...

I honestly hope (and believe) the latter.
