Dear Councilmen Ashford; I want to make you aware of the absolutely deplorable conditions of some the alleys and areas of the area in which I live and which you represent. There are alleys in the greater old Polish neighborhood there are littered with trash bags and not just one but piles of trash bags. Solid Waste does not seem to be checking the alleys after the change over to the sidewalk set out and it is apparent that the residents of the locations are simply not going to clean the mess up. Some of the pictured locations are unoccupied residences. This is simply incredible that the city would allow this to continue week after week after week and then have the audacity to put Toledo Pride signs, BAH! Clean the messes up and enforce the rules then we can talk about pride, but the images are not those of a pride filled neighborhood. I wrote to Solid Waste about alleys with trash bags on the ground, still, and asked if anyone was checking up on the alleys, the answer is apparent from the images. It just never seems to end. |

I posed a question to Solid Waste, the mayors office and the Public Services office; The e-mail was sent on Sunday 12-03-06 "More bags are set out and trash day is when? To be specific 15** Lagrange and another on the same side about two houses both have trash bags out on the sidewalk. Why is this allowed to continue? Do you have trash bags out on the sidewalks where you live? My guess is no, so why do you allow it to continue here? Where are the rules, as printed out and delivered to us? It's December and we still no official city rules." And the response is...................... |

It is simply amazing to me that this continues, week after week after week.

This request came across the wires. Seems that the cities IT deparment is blocking access to the blog, so.....................the people that need to see it can't. Just makes ya go....wow!!!!! I forwarded a whole lotta images of the trash piles and maybe Santa can bring the gift of seeing the site to those in City Hall.... "Hello; Your IT department should unblock the site as the general public is seeing it and commenting. Attached at the pics and from now I will include your office in e-mails sent to Solid Waste and others. "Yes- you're exactly the type of constant complainer I refer to! What have you done to make Toledo better? Yours from Toledo- an All-America City! Carty Finkbeiner Mayor" |

While the City posts signs about pride, the snow flakes, gently cover the trash piles. Until spring they sit and like the plants that bloom in the spring so too shall they.
