After writing the Neighborhoods Department directly the car wash at Central and Detroit is clean.

It is very refreshing to have such a quick response and it goes a long way to a good feeling that has not been around for some time.

neighbor "Numerous complaints" and that's the way it is Sep 11th, 2006 7:41:54 am - Subscribe
E-mail came across the wires from a city department telling that the "numerous complaints" I have sent it are being handled.

Funny when a citizen brings problems forward that they are complaining. Sure, it can be called a complaint but the follow up e-mail I got speaks words about our city management.

One response was that it would be wonderful if people followed the rules but people do not obey traffic laws either.

I know that all too well as I have seen my share of drivers with clear ignorance of traffic laws, those that completely fail to grasp the law that we stop at red lights and stop signs and not speed to be the light and cheat death for another day.

My response to this member of city management was that we all want a better city and with education and enforcement the goal of a cleaner and better looking city will be gained. But the current attitudes by some, is that's the way it is. Baloney, it does not have to be that way. And we want to give our managers a pay raise?

I have lived in the city for over 6 years and not one time has any information about solid waste rules be sent through the mail or handed out execpt when a call was placed and an city employee came out.

Where is the education? Where is the public employees involvement beyond being part of the system, where is the management of the city?

neighbor On going e-mail discussions Sep 22nd, 2006 5:57:32 pm - Subscribe
I have been exchanging e-mails with departments at city hall and it is starting to become clear that as the old saying goes, people do not like change.

I reported some trash at locations, one of which is on Airport Highway. This location had loose corrugated card board on and near the curb line.

I made reference to a Tarta bus stop as a landmark and did not state the trash was at the bus stop but merely the bus stop.

So, Solid Waste forwards it to the Neighborhoods Department and then I get an e-mail from Manager Frederick advising me that I am not to report non solid waste issues to Solid Waste, which I did not.

I reported trash near a bus stop and used the bus stop as a land mark and reported it to Solid Waste. The manager of sold waste advised in e-mail that her department is responsible for trash near the curb line and right of ways.

And so the circus music is cued again and the merry-go-round spins.

And I get a request from the Neighborhoods Department manager for a sit down meeting to which I declined for the same reason as I declined the offer of a sit down meeting with Solid Waste.

Just do the job you were appointed too and I will continue to report, as a citizen, problems I see wrong.
