Looking forward

Having thanked the city departments involved it might appear that there would be no need to maintain this blog.

I thought about that and have decided that it will not be taken down or removed.

There are other areas of the city need attention to motivate the leadership to act in a more proactive manner and not in a reactive manner.

Driving around the city in different areas over the weekend I noticed that still on Saturday there are places where there is liter and trash and outright garbage on the ground in plain sight. Driving down the Anthony Wayne Trail before the Zoo I could not helps but notice in an alley large piles of trash and debris piled high. Does nobody else see this?

Is this the look of a city that one wants?

I lived on the east coast for the better part of my life and would travel to New Your City and a city with as many people there was no trash in the alleys and on the streets. In some of the blighted areas there was but the areas were a small part of the total city.

The streets, and not just west side, but the lower east side and the working class neighborhoods were clean and tidey.

Why can't we have the same here?

As I have commented in e-mails to varied city departments and departmental heads, it's all about leadership.

If the leadership lets rules and regulations go unaddressed and fails to enforce and adhere to the rules and regulations how can the citizens be expected to take the rules and regulations as being meaningful.

There is no easy fix but there can be a fix. Enforce the rules.

If me as a citizen can spend a few moments while driving see these areas why cannot the fore persons and city employees not see them and report them. I put this question/comment to our leadership and to date I have not had any response.

Pride does not come from signs and talk. Pride comes from inside. Pride comes from wanting better and I am confident that the citizens of this city want better for the city. But with the current mindset it would seem that there is no place but down.

Well, that is not true. Lift our heads and look up to a better view of OUR city. Don't settle for less than that.

Make the city departments aware that we want better. Speak up about the conditions that you see and don't settle for the line, "that's the way it is."

It does not have to be the way it is, it can and will be better.
