Pushing those that need a push week after week after week

A rhetorical question comes to mind quite often; Why do I need to push so hard to get matters resolved. Matters that have been the way they are for so long. I guess the answer lies therein; the problem have been there for so long that they are become part of the norm and not noticed. Change remains the same; as in change changes. But seemingly not here in Toledo, Ohio...it is the same thing day and in day out.

A trash can appeared at the bus stop near the corner of Central and Secor. It is obvious that this was not a city trash can as the can is a red plastic type and not the wrought iron type the city places out in the downtown area. It is very rewarding to the see the can there. Thanks to whom ever. ![]()

Same mountain, small mountain of trash in a new year

Reported a mound of trash and household debris in an alley of the 3000 block of Auburn to the cracker jack right on the ball Immediate Call City Hall Assignment e-mail address and ......well good thing I didn't hold my breath. The report was sent 12/26/06 and 1/3/07 the mound of trash is still sitting there. Nice follow up Neighborhoods Department that fancy new system is working almost the old system which was working as well as Model T with a flat tire. Is it just me or are the city leaders, some not all, dysfunctional unless pushed and pushed and pushed about something?

Trashing in the new year
Dec 31st, 2006 10:15:01 pm - Subscribe |
I try to be optomistic that the new year will bring change and hope for change. But reading the e-mail I see a read receipt from a city department today, someone is reading mail on Sunday at city hall? It reminded that just yesterday, about a week after the new rules were handed out in the neighborhood, that people are still refusing to abide by the rules or simply just do not care, as I saw and reported trash bags on the sidewalk on day after trash day. But soon the new year will be here and there is also hope for change. So, long 2006

The city council members work for the citizens! I am a citizen so how about some answers?
Dec 29th, 2006 7:19:24 am - Subscribe |
I found this Blade article via the Glass City Jungle blog and posed my question below to the City Council. I am expecting some reply to the question but will I get one? Probably not if past history proves correct. From: neighborhoodconcerns To: Ashford, Michael Subject: Well, if the City Council works for the people Date: Thu, 28 Dec 2006 19:24:05 -0500 Then this citizen would the people that work for the citizens to do some about the never ending messes at city bus stops. You want pictures? http://www.aeonity.com/neighbor "The resulting alliance between the city's executive and legislative leadership set the council's agenda and prevented ordinances from getting the appropriate level of debate, said Councilman Michael Ashford." "Carty says, 'It's my way or the highway,'•" Mr. Ashford said. "Carty forgets that we don't work for Carty. We work for citizens." The silence on this simple issue is stunning from the council chambers. Absolutely stunning....the silence and the mess continues week after week after week....
