3600 jigsaw puzzle pieces of me
sometimes I don't show
all or very much of the picture
sometimes I am here only in
the bits I feel confident with
in front of you and your open eyes
fragments of melody and lyric
I rest my heart in
if you disapprove, then where
where ought my heart to sleep?
and if I am - and I often am -
letting my sadness carry me off
in words, spoken or otherwise
where am I to turn
when my heart has a voice?
and I am yours, as you are mine
but you do talk circles around me.
how can the scientist understand?
