![]() Article explains how Canonical Links Help Transfer Page Rank & Link Juice. What are Canonical Tags? Canonical spelled CON-AUT-ICAL is simply rel="canonical" tag that you place in your meta keywords area or near your meta description tags that defines the url that is supposed to be where the content of the page resides. So if you have a page that is domain.com/product-abc and if you have people sending in with paramater tag you can end up with multiple URL's having that same exact contact being displayed you can use the ref="canonical" tag to tell all those other version of the URL that NO this is the right version of the URL. This is that we want indexed by the search engines. There are many ways a search engine can see a page, and there are many ways that a person can link to you on a certain page. Another example is. Well you get the hint. All of these URL's are unique, but all point to the same content. Using the rel="canonical" tag can save you the grief of search engines not indexing you the way you would like to be indexed. For the most part search engines have gotten smarter and will evaluate your website as being domain.com or www.domain.com but I would advise you as an SEO to play it safe and add the canonical tag inside of your pages. Confused? Give this slide a try, perhaps it will better explain visually for you So all and all canonical tags are great to have on your site on every page that you have the main source for that content. Every where else you may have duplicate content of the same thing make sure that canonical has point to the original. Keep in mind that doing rel="canonical" from one domain to another does work, and in that case if it is passing link juice. That makes this whole topic very interesting. How How Canonical Links Help Transfer Page Rank & Link Juice Well most of you are probably asking yourself, well can a canonical tag transfer link juice from one URL to an another? The answer is sort of. A 301 redirect will do this for you not problem, but will a canonical link? It was stated to me long ago that a client has a yahoo merchant account that did not allow 301 redirects, and the only thing that could be use was a canonical tag and it worked as I was told it passed over everything amazingly. Keep in mind though, and this comes back to my answer of sort of, this was a long time ago and things have changed since then. In search engines, everything is a moving target and it's up to use to always do our research before doing our implementation. So with that in mind page rank can be in theory transfered and so can link juice. Currently Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask all support the open Canonical Link Tag, many more search engines are to follow this need. External Links Google Matt Cutts Discusses Canonical Links |

Entry explains how to Convert Ogg Theora using FireFox.![]() This entry will be rather simple. The problem that most of us have is how to play ogg theora in the Firefox browers. If your like me you have used many pieces of software to create an Ogg Theora with an extension theora.ogv which is rather strange, but what we are shooting for is a simple .ogv that we can implement in our HTML 5 video player. Well I stumbled upon a website called FireFogg.org what it will do is require you to have Firefox and to upload the video that you wish to convert to Ogg Theora to their local server. Once done, the video that was uploaded will then be converted to .ogv External links: Firefogg - video encoding and uploading for Firefox |

![]() Orbit Downloader known for downloading, video, music, and streaming media from Myspace, YouTube, Imeem, Pandora, Rapidshare, support RTMP contains Adware. I recently did a scan on my computer using Microsoft's Security Essentials, when I received an alert. It stated that Adware:Win32/Open Candy was detected, the alert level was low, status active, and the recommended action was to remove. So what's funny is that Orbit Downloader has Awards from websites like Softpedia, Baixaki, Nota Softonic, Vist Files, ITshareware, Download.HR all stating that it's adware, spyware, and virus free. Well I care to differ. Do not download Orbit Downloader, unless you are interested in some adware. Alert stated: Category: Adware Description: This program delivers potentially unwanted advertisements to your computer. Recommended action: Permit this detected item only if you trust the program or the software publisher. Security Essentials detected programs that may compromise your privacy or damage your computer. You can still access the files that these programs use without removing them (not recommended). To access these files, select the Allow action and click Apply actions. Firefox Running Slow Connecting to Advertisements.I figured I would post this question that a friend sent to me, hoping that it would help others on the net with similar issues. The questions that I received was:![]() User Question July 6 at 3:18pm I need a professional opinion. Recently my firefox browser has been running slow as s*it while on the net, while I surf from site to site. At the bottom left where it says "connecting to..." it always gets stuck on ads. Ad.click, ad.biz etc... WTH is wrong with my machine? Ive only had it for a couple of months. Ive researched a little bit and it says most ads run off Java script and apparantly thats not good, and it slows down stuff. Is this normal? Are there some good remedies? Holler. Ok seems simple enough. Here is a break down of what needs to be done so that hopefully this situation can be resolved. Keep in mind that Firefox has become more of a bloated browser ever since 3.0.
I am more than sure that the reason Firefox is Running Slow and says connecting to those advertisements is because of the issues above. You were recommended to remove javascript. Give Noscript a javascript killer a try. It basically removes JavaScript, Java and Flash unless you add them to you're trusted sites. Good luck and happy browsing. |
