Thoughts about the celibate priesthood? As young seminarians (11-17 year olds), we were ignorant or insecure about our sexuality. I was a late bloomer when I got ordained. In my late twenties, my sexuality bloomed. Sex would not have been a problem since, this as I witnessed it could be had through clandestine relations, or the do-it-yourself way among priests.
Falling in love, its need for open and normal relationship, was a problem. Apart from sex is the need to have a family-- a right recognized by the UN Declaration of Rights.
As it is, the celibate priesthood is the most frustrating career in life.
