Walter Kaufman noted the tragic world view. I believe the sheer experience of existence-- no matter how brief, e.g. early death-- is well worth the appreciation of life in the world.

In some ways, small or great, each of us can also claim life's success such as in rearing a well-knit family, carving a professional niche or achieving a feat in some field of life-- business, religion, science, sports, etc.

Personally. I claim discovering "the pearl of great price"-- Buddhalike awakening to consciousness of Tao-Source-God along childlike relationship taught by the historical mystic of Nazareth.
