There is a cultural gap between the historical Jesus and the Christian Church during and after the Roman Era.
Jesus, faithful to the Law, adhered to strict monotheism till his crucifixion (No iota of the Law shall be changed; My God cry on the cross). The last of Jesus' apostles and direct witnesses lived only till about 90CE.
The year of the Fathers of the Church, gentile apologists of Jesus' life, started about 90 CE when a rich variety of gentile perceptions about Jesus arose, including Gnosticism. The 325 CE Council of Niceae declaring Jesus God created the definitive separation of what is history and faith in Jesus.
