| Ryan Honl, a commissioned Army officer who led a parachute infantry platoon during Desert Storm in 1991 and a graduate of West Point Military Academy, has created a successful career over the past decade in the field of ophthalmic pharmaceutical sales. A Leading District Sales Manager For Vistakon Ryan Honl currently serves as District Sales Manager in charge of ophthalmic pharmaceuticals for contact lens supplier VISTAKON PHARMACEUTICALS, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. Since 2004, Ryan Honl has overseen 10 sales representatives who together cover 14 states. Ryan Honl’s district has been honored as the top district for overall sales in ’05, out of six in the nation. In ’06, Ryan Honl received the Johnson & Johnson Global Standards of Leadership Award. Working His Way Up Ladder At Santen Prior to Vistakon, Ryan Honl worked from ’03 to ’04 as District Sales Manager in charge of ophthalmic pharmaceuticals for SANTEN, INC. At this point in his career, Ryan Honl’s responsibilities included managing a team of nine sales reps. Ryan Honl’s achievements with Santen include hitting a 115% sales quota and completing a REACH management course. Ryan Honl made the shift to Vistakon when Santen was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in ’04. Ryan Honl worked his way up the ranks at Santen with two previous positions. In ’02, he was named Sales Training Manager in the ophthalmic pharmaceuticals division. Working with the Director of Sales Training, Ryan Honl assisted in the training of Santen’s national sales forceâ€"some 64 sales reps in all. Ryan Honl first joined Santen as a Specialty Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, a position he held from ’00 to ’02. As sales rep, Ryan Honl managed approximately 200 accounts. During the two years, Ryan Honl was honored as Sales Representative of the Quarter for the Southeast Region during two consecutive quarters in ’01, and for achieving the highest market share in the sales force for a Santen product during one quarter in ’02. Rising Star In Pharmaceutical Sales Field Ryan Honl started his pharmaceuticals career in ’99 when he served as Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for WARNER CHILCOTT, a supplier of women’s healthcare and dermatology pharmaceuticals. Placed in charge of nearly 200 accounts, Ryan Honl managed to move an underperforming territory to the top 50% of market share within six months of joining the firm. Military Training Delivers Experience Ryan Honl enlisted in the U.S. ARMY directly out of high school. At age 18, he participated in Desert Shield/Storm in the Corps of Engineers, serving in Saudi Arabia and Iraq. He was later appointed by Secretary of Defense to attend West Point Military Academy. During his nearly 10-year military career, Ryan Honl completed a course in French at the French Defense Department Language School for foreign officers at Rochefort Sur Mer, France, and studied at the French Military Academy for one semester. He also speaks Mandarin Chinese. A Variety Of Outside Interests In this free time, Ryan Honl practices judo, volunteers at a local homeless shelter and teaches Sunday school. A dog lover, Ryan Honl is especially partial to German shepherds and huskies, but he also appreciates the complexities of cats and fish. He has traveled in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Ryan Honl lives in Valparaiso, Ind., with his wife and two daughters.
