Blink182 announced today that they are to go on an 'indefinite hiatus' or quite simply split up. I was quite disappointed as I didn't make the effort which I was supposed to and see them last year on their winter tour. It seems easy to say now but I kinda had a feeling that a split after the latest album was inevitable from reading the various interviews they did.
After Enema of the state came out, they exploded and were everywhere and I kinda went off the band in search of something new to indulge in.
Then 'Feeling this' came out late 2003/early 2004 I recall(?). And I guess it was that song that made me rediscover Blink182. 'I miss you' is probably on my list somewhere of all time favourite songs too.
Many people are too cynical about music and bands like Blink182, but they were one of those bands that made good music. They knew they weren't making any political statements or changing the musical landscape. They were probably responsible for getting so many kids into punk music and beyond in the late 90's and even now.

The weekend is over as quickly as it started... Only another four days till friday. Wooo!! Well....
I better not listen to the Northstar 'Pollyanna' album too much this week otherwise i'll rinse it and get tired of it too quickly just like i did to the Open Hand album and the Black Maria album. I heard the Static Lullaby album too this weekend and it's very different to the first one on Ferret. I'd say it sounds somewhat more mellower or even matured whereas many will probably say it sounds like they sold out.
I heard Art Brut this weekend too. Some track called 'formed a band'. Simple and infectious. It worked for me. They're on fierce panda records and i checked to see if my mate's band Le Neon were still on their roster. No trace.. which is a shame. Which also reminds me that i have to call him some time, not e-mail.
OHHH MYYY GAWDDD!!! I wanna hear those Alice In Chains tracks that Maynard sang wih the rest of AIC for that Tsunami concert. Somebody must have bootlegged the show! *Dribble Dribble!*
Mark 'Old Man' Coleman got owned at the latest Pride event on the weekend by that supposed 'one trick pony' Mirko Crocop. No surprises there. So many fights I still need to see from that event. Jeez....
I found that I have to exchange my PSP as it's got some dead pixels and it randomly crashes.
Music that got me through the weekend:
Northstar: Pollyanna
A Change of Pace: An offer you can't refuse
Rufus Wainwright:Want one
A Static Lullaby:Faso Latido
65 Days of Static:The fall of math
Isis:Oceanic Remixes
The Roots:Organix
The Game: Documentary
Quote of the weekend:
This is what some moronic stupid fuck of a kid said to me:
'As for sparta, they can blow my goats. they were the people who stopped ATD-i being all it could be. LONG LIVE CEDRIC AND OMAR.'
Really no joke.

When Friday calls so quickly

It's friday again already! Damn, the week has gone so quick again.
Anyway I heard the new queens of the stone age album and i have to say that i am a tad disappointed overall. But i'm sure it's gonna be a grower. There is one track that doesn't fit on the album completely. Also it sounds like mark lanegan is back doing some vocals for this album despite leaving last year.
So Mahmut mahmut!!! You're coming over to visit in late June or July. If you're reading this then give me the exact date as I still wanna go back to NYC before the fares bump up. You would love it out there too. I''l be in s'pore in May too so pop down there as well! It shouldn't be too expensive from where you are.
I got my PSP too yesterday but I didn't get any games or a memory stick yet so I have to make do with playing about with the setting the time and date. SAD SAD SAD!!!

Last night I plugged in my i-pod and listened to the 65days of static album the fall of math. A weird blend of aphex twin, aereogramme, mogwai and a touch of sigur ros even. Nice night time music.
Queens of the stone age tickets go on sale tomorrow morning. I betcha I won't be able to get a ticket. Its at such an ickle venue too!!!
Well I did get tickets to see the band in their best line up with Nick Oliveiri, Mark Lanegan and David Grohl at the smallish but biggish mean fiddler. Ah HA HA!!!!
Saw meet the fockers last night and t'was funny indeedy. I can't think of anything else to write at the moment..... errrrr.... I perfected the fingerboard kickflip and nearly got a 360 flip nailed.

Yesterday, i went to the gym for the first time since the first week or maybe even the last week in november of 2004. It felt good goddamnit but my arms and back ache today. Its all for the greater good anyway.
well.... i've been listening to a lot of my chemical romance's latest on the ipod. I totally appreciate the guitar intro to Thank you for the venom'.
I totally love the fact that some guitar technique is being written into songs again as opposed to the de-tuned finger-bar compositions of say korn or disturbed. eughh...
I'm also still annoyed that Head Automatica had to cancel yet again. Shall I get my refund or wait for yet another rescheduled date. Always happens... When I got tickets to Glassjaw about two years ago they cancelled twice. But it can't be helped. He didn't chose to be born with crohns disease. get well soon man.
Another thing that's left me drooling is the preview some new QOTSA songs. ya ya! The first preview 'little sister' sounds like what Josh once told me which was his songs are written to a polka beat and he has indeed made polka cool.
I borrowed fight club the game from work. it's a bit samey samey and i'm glad i borowed it first because there is no way i would buy it.
Can't wait to watch 'million dollar baby' sometime. Rohan doesn't have time for Clint Eastwood anymore since we studied the spaghetti westerns and unforgiven. I bet he'll watch it in a couple of months and go yeah its a wicked film.
Something i didn't think would be playing was 'who wants to be a millionaire' with a AI Chris Tarrant. I spent about an hour and a half playing the game with Stef and Rohan in his front room. Stef *bless his soul* only got questions up to about £1,000 right. Rohan was headstrong as usual insisting that is guesses had a better chance over my unsure but correct guess.
I got emailed a Mensa test at work today which has 33 questions written in code. It said that only two mensa members were able to complete it and that if you got 23 you were a genius. I got 21 so far so i'm two away from being a genius. I'll be a demi god when i get to 33!
