Aung San Suu Kyi has been elected to the parliament of Myanmar! In 1990 her party the National League for Democracy (NLD) won 82% of seats in Burma's only free election. However the Military rulers refused to hand over power.
It's marvelous that Myanmar's President Thein Sein has allowed fair elections to occur. As US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "Even the most repressive regimes can reform, and even the most closed societies can open."
It's so exciting that Suu Kyi, and 43 other NLD candidates will finally become members of parliament!
