On Sunday morning I had the privilege of attending the meeting at Kaniva corps. Kaniva is a town of 740 people halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne. Due to holidays there were only six of us there yet it was a great meeting led by my friends Captains Lynn & David Boughton. David preached very well about faith from Acts 10. It was lovely to see these really good corps officers in action! Kaniva corps is very special to me because of my family connection. It is where I was dedicated and was my corps for four years before my parents entered Officer Training College. My Grandmother, Mavis, also entered College from Kaniva corps almost 60 years ago. My Great Grandmother, Eva Dalling, was also an officer for a short time before serving as an envoy with her husband Fred Vivian at the Kaniva corps. Eva's father was instrumental in starting the Kaniva and Broughton corps in the 1880s. What a great privilege to follow in the footsteps of these faithful Salvationists! I kept driving to Melbourne and attended a larger church service in the evening. I will blog later this week about the guest preacher who is an absolutely incredible God-inspired planetshaker! |
