(This is another entry from my old blog)
Along with 27 other members of the Visionaries session of cadets, I signed my Officer's Covenant today! I was excited to give my whole life for the service of God and the salvation of souls! It was a privilege to share this significant day with Commissioners James and Carolyn Knaggs, the training college officers, and members of cabinet. Their passion for God and faithful service in The Salvation Army are such an inspiration and encouragement to me! I promised:
to love, trust, and serve God supremely all my days;
to live to win souls and make their salvation the first purpose of my life;
to care for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, love the unlovable, and befriend those who have no friends;
to maintain the doctrines and principles of The Salvation Army and, by God's grace to prove myself a worthy officer.
May God use me and the other Visionaries to love and transform many lives!
'God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven. Dear friends, since God loved us this much, we must love each other.' 1 John 4:9-11
