Alright,

Seems the continuing press black-out of the situation in the gulf hasn't affected the media in Russia, just the media in the United States. But this could eventually backfire because according to the Russian media (Pravda/Articulo 7) the out-pouring of oil is not coming just from 1 area ALONE but from 18 DIFFERENT SITES!
According to the Russian scientist {who spear-headed the report from first -hand examination of the Gulf at the request of the Administration} he forwarded his report to the Russian Prime Minister afterward.

The Gulf seabed has been "broken beyond repair" and the largest seepage, being only 11 miles away from the original site, has been losing 2 million gallons of oil per day.
The Russians, having had such problems before, are recommending using a nuclear detonation to seal the original well. They themselves used 5 devices to shut down their own oil/gas wells in the Gulf between 1966 and 1981. Only 1 failed. There is a 1/5 chance the attempt wouldn't seal the well, but it's a risk that has to be considered.

The Russians are also worried that the chemical dispersant being used in the area is going to have a long term effect as it eventually gets picked up into the atmosphere and clouds and carried onto the land, falling as toxic rain, killing every plant-form in its wake and poisoning water reservoirs relied on by populations of animals/humans alike. Eventually the planetary cost overall will be unimaginable, so the serious question has to be, which is more important? Cheap oil at any cost; even to Human life, or saving the entire planet from an eventual slow death? I think the Russians are rightly concerned, 18 different leaks are too much to just ignore.
If not stopped, it will take 30 years to destroy the Atlantic Ocean, etc. as the leaks continue unabated. So..there ya have it.
Looks like we're all doomed.

Update > The compromised sea floor is said to be more than 100 ft. long and widening. The detonation scenario is being prepared in Canada at CFB Suffield, Alberta. A definite nuclear device. Despite the decision to attempt this (since July 7th) some geo-chemists have expressed their concerns that the eventual detonation might ignite the Methane in the Gulf. A very explosive event, indeed.

For anyone who happens to be 200 miles within the Gulf region right now... do yourself a big favor and leave. A decision has been made to stop this event by blowing up a nuclear bomb but nobody knows what the consequences will be...

Hey ya all,

A lot has happened since my last post (Feb.), so I'll try to update everyone... well, since the family lost its main source of income due to losing a job in early January, Fate managed to step in temporarily and save us for roughly 4 months. Thereafter, I had to regress and go back onto OW. Having a roof over our heads and food in our stomaches was my main priority. I still used the local food bank but only when I seriously needed to.

The stumbling economy here in the Ottawa Valley is still in tatters and trying to secure another job even with experienced work backgrounds to boot is a very disheartening task at best. Despite what the politicians may be saying about the economy, the stark reality is quite different behind the scenes. They're just not telling anybody about it. Being on the very bottom of the totem pole in this crazy mess looks very un-rosy and dismal. So let's ante that up and ratchet up the scorecard.

Question- Just how many job postings are there for the Valley? Given this to anyone off-the-cuff, I believe very few can seriously answer this one; not because they can't, but because they truly just-don't-know. But hey, I do! And why is that, you wonder? I check the local listings practically every day. And not just the local paper but those listed on the various search engines. There are 5 search engines that cover the Valley overall; two overlap but basically all cover the various categories for jobs/careers.
On the higher end of the spectrum there are only 22 job postings on the western side of the valley;on the opposite side, 6.
Because of the current season, there are more jobs now available in the City than anywhere else, coming in at 54 positions. On the opposite end of the valley, things are lower- only 17.
The lowest listings were those from Renfrew.Kiiji. 4 on one side; 5 on the other.

Right in the middle, there is only one dismal listing for my area. A real non-starter because the previous owners of the business abandoned the Valley when they couldn't make their new venture (a restaurant) work.
So they put their property up for sale. But nobody wanted their failure so they've tried to recreate themselves by opening a 'new establishment' and soliciting resume's for work positions. But that didn't work either.
The problem for these people is that they're from Ottawa-Gatinaeu; city folk, and they've betted that there are suitable 'people', like themselves to run their business for them.
Unfortunately, there is another problem with this...there are no ethnic minorities who dwell in the Valley like themselves; Vietnemese/Punjabi. There aren't any substantial minorities except for the local native reserve folks, the Algonquins.
You see the odd one or two in the city but that's about it. Everyone else is your basic white, christian city/farmer folk.
I guess that they realized this when they first tried to open..their menu was completely foreign to everyone. Had they resorted to the same fare as the other local sites in the area, they may have succeeded.

Despite all the postings though, not having a driver's licence is detrimental as well plus I was out out of the work-force for a loong time. I took up the job as a stay- at -home mom. My mother-in-law used to rebuke me for even 'thinking' of getting a job outside the house. No way Hose'! Women belonged in the home; that way they couldn't earn an independant living in case they wanted 'out' of their lives and break up their families. It was an Old-World thinking that drove this.
So, I bowed to her wishes. Boy, did I miss a lot!
Since having my one-day job every week, and becoming a regular taxpayer again, I've re-learned a lot about how the world actually works behind the scenes. And despite my gains, there's a lot of pussy-footing going on behind closed doors. It's really a tiger-eats-dingo world out there...and as long as the tiger gets what he wants... the dingo's usually have to suffer, adapt or die. The luckier ones who smart it out get better...they move from the Valley altogether!
I've considered moving as well, but since I've succeeded adapting to my varying circumstances every month, I'm not so easily a push-over by the overlord tiger's of the region. I've actually opened a bold new doorway for myself... and so far, it looks like there's a pot-of-gold at the end of my Rainbow!
Yeah...so, as it is... don't believe the wily Tiger's who tell of 'good fortune's' of the Economy... it's just not true. The Dingo's are slowly smartening up to their tactics and they'd better be prepared... there's a Revolution brewing on their Horizon..~
