A heart to heart

Mood: procrastinating
Song: Samson-Regina Spektor
I told my heart today
to play it safe and keep away
from dangerous alleys and memory lane
Alas it was not to be,
as i thought of her by five to three,
I caught my heart's attention,
and called it back in line,
pouting it returned as if the fault were mine
I put my heart upon the shelf,
but it fell upon my sleeve
and splashed it's way in my thoughts
and turned my hopes to dreams
I found a box with several locks
and put my heart inside,
but soon it claimed it would behave
and in silence would reside
no later than the final word
I found myself decieved
my heart did not return in silence,
but reminded me of she
I fought back with thoughts of work,
but found my fight was weak
For literary classics, their opposition meek.
As many marvels as shakespear wove,
the rug stayed beneath my feet,
As delightful as stories are,
their presence i do not seek
Truly treasures, both new and old,
their history above disdain,
but against her beauty within,
could they truly hope to tame?
So, a heart to heart with my heart to start,
a comprise be made,
if it can give me a fighting chance,
my feelings i'll conceed
