In our class we are learning about Dr. Seuss, and how he uses silly words. He writes books where the words end in the same sounds, like in the book "Hop on Pop". My teacher says these belong to "word families." We are only in first grade and we are learning about word families and how we can change the beginning sounds of words that end in -at to make new words. My teacher calls these onsets and rimes.
Today was really fun. Our teacher made us green eggs and ham and she read the Dr. Seuss book "Green Eggs and Ham" to us too. The green eggs looked really yucky, but I really liked the book. I can't wait until tomorrow so she can read another book to us and we can learn more word families so we can start to read books ourselves!
